Chapter 1: The Kidnapping

Chapter Text

"Liko, you have a visitor," the janitor said, oblivious to the young man's motives. Liko's small smile fell, as she wasn't expecting any visitors. "Nice to meet you, young lady. I trust that you are Liko?" the young man asked. Liko nodded. She was confused. Who was this person? She decided to voice her question by saying, "Yes, I'm Liko, but who are you?" The young man stepped closer, pulling out a small envelope from his suit and handing it to Liko. The young man spoke again, "Your grandmother sent me here to deliver this letter to you." Liko took the envelope and looked at it. The envelope was white with a green wax seal on it. "Grandma sent this? She never sends me letters. Plus, this guy seems strange..." Liko thought. The young man studied her expression. Liko opened her mouth to speak, but the young man cut her off, sensing her suspicion, "Your grandmother said that you'd feel suspicious. She also mentioned to me that it is very important that you bring your pendant along." Sprigatito, the green cat Pokémon in Liko's arms, hissed at the young man. "That's not very nice of you, Sprigatito," Liko gently scolded. Sprigatito's ears fell slightly, and it let out a disappointed meow. Liko looked back at the young man and forced a smile. "I'll go get ready. Please wait here," she said, walking past him. As she walked past him, Sprigatito looked back at him. It made eye contact with the young man, and it gave him a dirty look.

Once Liko returned to her dorm room, she immediately stopped smiling. A fearful look came to her face. "Oh no, no, no! Something is very wrong! Who is that guy?! Since when does Grandma send letters to me?!" Liko's mind was racing. Sprigatito's eyes followed her anxious pacing. Liko stopped and looked at Sprigatito. "Telling me to bring the pendant is too suspicious!" she said out loud. She picked up the pendant's box and looked at it. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door, which startled her into dropping the box. She quickly got on the ground, put the pendant on, and put her backpack on. She tried to open the window to escape, but it was jammed. All of the color drained from her face. The young man's voice called out from the other side of the door, "Miss Liko?" Liko, in a voice that wasn't quite able to hide her panic, said, "I'm almost ready!" She realized there was no way out. The young man, realizing what she was trying to do, barged in. "You've had plenty of time to get ready," he said. Liko backed against the wall. "What do you want?!" she asked in a terrified voice. The young man walked closer, speaking calmly, "I just need you to come with me without a fight. Make sure you bring the pendant, too." Liko realized that the safest option was to go with him. She lowered her head. "Fine," she said in a defeated voice. The young man gestured for Liko to follow, which she did.

The walk was terrifying for Liko. She glanced at the young man, trying to figure out how hostile he was. He didn't seem all that aggressive. Eventually, they left the building and approached a man and a woman. "Master Amethio, do you have the girl?" the woman said. Liko glanced at the young man again. "So his name is Amethio..." she noted to herself in her head. Amethio turned to Liko and spoke, "Return your Sprigatito to its Poké Ball." Liko reluctantly did as she was told. Amethio pulled out a Poké Ball of his own and tossed it into the air. Corviknight, a large, dark purple bird, came out of it. Shortly after Corviknight came out, the man and the woman threw their own Poké Balls in the air, revealing two gray Pokémon called Skarmory that resembled a bird. The man and woman mounted each Skarmory, while Amethio approached his Corviknight. "Miss Liko, come here," he said. Liko walked over to him. He lowered himself to her height and spoke quietly so only she could hear, "Are you able to get onto Corviknight on your own?" Liko shook her head. "In that case, I'll help you," he responded, already helping her up onto it. Once he got her on, he climbed on behind her. Due to Corviknight's back not having much room, Amethio's chest was pressed against Liko's back. "Hold on tight," Amethio said quietly before both of the Skarmory and Corviknight took off.
