A Critical Time

Summary:

A unedited rant about perception and identity. Short, simple and off the top of my head.

Work Text:

The world is a place full of gray. Depending on the role you have in someone else’s life you’ll receive a distinct perspective on who they are. You don’t have to believe it yourself but there are gaps in people’s perception on you based on your combined reactions to each other. Even your perception of yourself is bias. Doesn’t matter if you love or hate yourself you’ll never be able to give away the full picture. That’s why people use multiple accounts of and incident. You’ll need a large group to understand what’s general fact to erase bias. If fifty people say this person was nice but another five say they were rude we can come to the conclusion that they were a generally nice person. Maybe they weren’t good but nice at the very least.

All of this being said to ask the question who are you? What are you? What are you to other people, yourself, close friends and family? I’d say I’m open to interpretation. I’m open to the notion that people can hate me with no real reason behind their hate but I refuse to entertain it. I am a being willing to change and adapt to a gray world as it becomes more clear to me. Ultimately I can say in the most simplest terms that I am alive.

You should acknowledge this too. You should acknowledge that you are alive and can mold how that group of people see you. If you want to be known for being kind be kind until it’s truly who you are. If you want to be known for your work show people your talents. Be open to their many options but know when and what to take to heart. In that average fifty something years you’re alive know that you can leave an impression with intention. The good, the bad, and the ugly is all apart of the experience.
