Chapter Text

You were top of your English class, something you were quite proud of. So it wasn't particularly uncommon for someone to ask for you to tutor them, which you didn't mind most of the time.

So it's not a surprise when someone comes into Class 4 looking for you.

"_________?" You looked up, as usual, watching a boy walk over to your desk near the back of the class. A boy. Kageyama. You mentally curse yourself as your friend jabs her elbow into your side, giving you a smirk. You try to jab her back, but miss.

You scrambled to collect all your papers. "Uh, hi. Kageyama." You attempt to be smooth and lean on your desk, eventually having to retract your hands to wipe your sweat off. You thought you were over this guy, but perhaps you were wrong. Very, very  wrong. "Did- Did you need something?" You can't even look him in the eyes. This is apparently very funny to your friends, eho are holding back their laughter from behind him.

"Please help me study! I need to go to Tokyo." Intense. He was almost yelling.

...Is this really the same guy you were practically fangirling over in Junior High? He looked so nervous, you kinda felt bad.

But Kageyama? Needing a tutor? You knew he wasn't exactly top of his class but c'mon! This was the Kageyama Tobio. King of the Court. Genius Setter. No way he wasn't passing, right?/p> "Y-yeah! I'm free after school if you want to-" Smooth. "I have volleyball. How's this weekend?" He was quieter now. More monotone.

"This wEekend?!" Voice crack. Nice. You heard your friends laughing and felt yourself turning red at the thought of spending time with him. Alone. Still, you can be professional. It's not like you're in love with him, it's just a dumb crush, this is just nerves. It would be rude to deny anyone help, especially when they need it as bad as he does.

"I mean, yeah. This weekend is cool." You leaned on your desk again. "You know the big library? The one with two floors? We could meet up there on Saturday."

"Yes! Thank you." And back to being intense, all this eye contact was getting uncomfortable. Was he always like this?

He turned to walk away but you felt your friend jab you in the side, urging you to keep talking. "Uh- Kageyama?" You managed to stammer out.

"Yes?" He was by the door now.

"...Nothing, never mind."
