Chapter Text

The titanic corpse lay limply on the floor of the tram station, nothing but a shell of its former glory. A lone machine, the scourge of hell, looked at the destruction it had caused in its fight against the titan. A door rose from the ground behind it, signaling the end of the Layer of Lust. The machine stepped forward, watching as the door opened and beckoned it further into the depths of hell.

-------------------------------------

It had been falling for a while now. Much longer than usual. Something was wrong. The air was dark, but the machine’s optical sensors took care of the darkness most of the time. As it looked down, all it could see was black, but it knew it had fallen over a mile since it went into the elevator. Its gyroscopes were starting to restabilize, so it knew it was getting closer to the ground. It put itself into a stable position, and hit the ground.

The floorboards were sticky with a viscous, black substance. The air was different here, and the temperature was cooler, according to its internal sensors. It looked around and noticed the lack of terminals that usually greeted it. Something was wrong. The machine had a sneaking suspicion that it was no longer in hell.

A noise sounded in the distance, not dissimilar to the sound of the benevolent elevators that guide it through hell. It stood up, and started to walk towards the noise, its finger never leaving the trigger of its gun. The machine was not made for stealth, but it tried nevertheless to be as quiet as possible. The black liquid seeping from the floor certainly did not help with this.

Its ocular sensor suddenly flashed red, warning it of danger a split second before blackened claws slashed out at it from the darkness. The creature, now fully in the light, resembled an enlarged anthropomorphic strawberry, a fruit that the steel creature recognized from its data banks, though it had never seen in real life. The fruit was covered in the same black substance that was in the floor. Its eyes were enflamed, black liquid seeping from its eyelids. The machine threw four coins into the air, aimed, and was slammed to the ground by the creature before it shot. The creature pinned the machine down, and raised its arm, about to slash it in half. The machine looked around for what it expected to be the last time, and the creature struck.

-------------------------------------

Everything was dark, and the floor was cold. The machine was alive, but in critical condition. It did not know how long it had been unconscious, and had no way of knowing. It looked around, but its ocular sensors had been all but destroyed, leaving it almost blind. It looked at its legs and saw they had been torn off in the fight, making it immobile. It had been more one-sided than most of its fights, and the fight was not in the machine’s favor. This left the machine to wonder, why was it alive?

Footsteps could be heard, getting closer and closer to the room the machine was in. The machine raised its gun, and pointed it at the walking flower that had just entered the room.

"Oh wow! You're awake! I thought for sure Sprout had, uhhhm, killed you."

The machine looked at the plant with a seemingly blank expression

"Can you not talk? That's fine, I guess. One of my friends doesn't talk very well, but he is a mime."
The metal creature kept staring. This thing was clearly not a threat at the moment, and even if it was ,the machine was not in good enough condition to fight.

It lowered the gun and put it on it’s back, the gun morphing into one of the machine’s wings. The flower came closer to the machine, and sat down as the doors to the room closed. It was apparent to the machine that the noise it had heard previously had came from this elevator it was sitting in.

"I should probably introduce myself! I'm Dandy! This place used to be where I worked and lived, but after the show was canceled, it kinda went downhill..."

"..."

"Anyway, I am here collecting this!" Dandy said as he held up a jar of the black liquid.  "This is ichor, and it is what gives us toons life! The humans used it to make us! "

"Well now that I've introduced myself, lets see who you are!"

Dandy looked at the machine, being careful not to damage it, and lifted up its arm.

"Ah! A serial code! It says here you are 'v-1.'"

V-1 pulled its arm away from Dandy, still not trusting it completely. The elevator door opened, and the flower stood up.

"You should be safe in here, I'll be right back"

The machine laid its head on the cool ground, and drifted off to sleep.
