Chapter Text
Jouno had awoken to the sound of rising, unstable breathing, and a slowly increasing heartrate that seemed to jump —whenever the lightning crackled in the sky, and the thunderous booms made the window panes shake— and it was quite frankly getting on his nerves.
"Tecchou, your breathing is irritating, calm it down." Jouno was annoyed to say the least, he was peacefully sleeping, before he woke up to all of this.
"Tecchou, so help me‐" Jouno had sat up now, unable to simply lay there and listen to this any longer than he needed to. Begrudgingly, he slowly opened his eyes —the curtains were left open and the moonlight that was able to peak through the clouds and shone into their bedroom, illuminating it, (albeit being faint), quite well— and was met with a sight, he didn't quite frankly expect.
Tecchou lay there, drenched in sweat, eyes shut tightly, and breathing gradually rising in speed, going faster and faster after each exhale it seemed.
"Tch- Wake up idiot." Jouno scoffed, playing down his concern, and replacing it with something he didnt want to accept, that something was worry.
However Jounos words seem to have done very little in terms of help, and Tecchou curled in on himself, hands covering his ears and pulling at his hair, he was miserable in the nightmare of his, and Jouno wasn't sure on what to do.
This was the first time this had happened, ever, and they'd been dating for over a year and a half—
—Tecchou shot up in bed next to Jouno, shoulders hunched forward, seemingly disoriented, and struggling to breathe. His eyes were empty looking, and they seemed to be looking of into the distance, even though he was simply staring at his hands(which were shaking).
TECCHOU POV:
(Thoughts)
I can't breath, everything is fuzzy, it hurts, why, no , make it stop—
3RD PERSON POV:
Tecchou jerked sideways, the contact on his arm startling him, and he fell out of bed onto the floor, hitting the ground with a thump.
Tecchou had sat up instantly, blinking his eyes rapidly and trying to bring himself to the present, but it was all blurry, and hard to focus, he felt so dizzy and his eyes burned... was Tecchou was crying?
He was. It wasn't much no, but it was a shock to the sadist that was still sat on the bed, he had never seen Tecchou break character.
Not once, he was always calm, conservative(sorta) and weird. But this? This hit like a bullet through the chest.
Jouno had pulled his hand away the second Trcchou hand tensed , but he had still fallen, and Jouno could tell that even now, he was not fully there with him in the present.
"Tecchou, breathe." Jouno had climbed out of bed, and was now sat next to the brown headed hunting dog on the floor.
But he wasn't, he couldn't, his lungs wouldn't listen to him, and the lack of oxygen wasn't helping in the slightest.
"I- ca-nt." A sob broke through his throat, it hurt.
"Yes, you can, can i touch you?"
The best Tecchou could manage was a weak nod, but it was good enough for Jouno. As he scooped Tecchou into his hold, and leaned back into the wall, holding Tecchou head as close to his chest as he could.
"Match my breathing, you can do it, I've got you, you idiot." Jouno grabbed Tecchous one hand, and held it ontop of his chest(his heart), and closed his eyes, oh he didn't have a clue on what to do.
Tecchous sobs made his body shake, and muffling them was to no avail, so he shoved his face into Jounos chest.
Was it the best idea, probably not, but did he care? Not a fuck.
Jouno, surprisingly, was calm, and quite the whole time, like a rock he could lean on in a storm. He felt safe, and the thunderous booms of lightning seemed unable to reach him here.
Eventually, he started to attempt to match Jounos breathing, it was messy, and uneven, but it seemed to be working.
Jouno felt as Tecchous tense frame started to go limp, and heard as his breathing gradually slowed down.
After what felt like an eternity(and hour and a half) , Tecchou had calmed down again, breathing mostly normal, and frame lose.
———
Jouno opened his eyes slowly, and glanced down at his boyfriend.
"You wanna talk about it?"
"...No"
"You sure? You seemed pretty out of it."
"Yeah..."
Jouno sighed softly, he knew he wasn't going to get anything out of this big oaf of his.
"Wanna go back to bed?"
"Mhm..."
"Alright, let's go."
Slowly Tecchou got up, and soon after, Jouno followed. He lead Tecchou to the bed, and lay down first, opening his arms slightly, signaling for Tecchou to join him, which Tecchou did.
He had climbed into bed, and immediately tucked away into Jouno hold, face in his chest and arms around his waist, Tecchou felt calm, and safe, and that's all he wanted to care about right now.
"We can speak about this tomorrow, it's late, so try and sleep peacefully now okay?"
"Okay..."
"Night Saigiku. Love you..." Tecchous response was soft, and Jouno would have missed it, if not for his upgraded hearing.
"Goodnight Suehiro."
And then softer.
"Love you too, idiot."
