Chapter Text
Kim Dokja got on the train after work, for the first time in a while, he was excited. Han Sooyoung had promised to buy him drinks if he helped her with her book. Kim Dokja still shudders when he thinks about that day. He pulled out his phone to check the time, but there was a notification from Yoo Joonghyuk's twitter that caught his eye instead.

Kim Dokja was disappointed as he read the tweet, it had been a ritual of his to watch Yoo Joonghyuk's streams after work, but more than his disappointment, he was worried. If he had to cancel a stream so suddenly that must mean there was an emergency, right?
Kim Dokja arrived at the bar him and Han Sooyoung were supposed to meet at when he got a text.

Kim Dokja felt his blood pressure rise so he shut off his phone and put it back in his pocket. He was already here anyway, might as well have a beer or two.
He walked up to the bar, sat on one of the stools, and ordered a beer. He was still huffing over Han Sooyoung canceling their plans at the very last minute.
Two beers in and he felt himself start to relax, the anger from Han Sooyoung not showing up is gone now.
Just as he was about to order another beer someone sat down next to him. Kim Dokja glanced at the man, he was wearing a black coat that accentuated his fit form, so he looked up to see if the man had a face to match the body and it was none other than Yoo Joonghyuk. Kim Dokja's brain short-circuited. The Yoo Joonghyuk had just sat next to him. He cringed as he realized he was still wearing his work clothes. Fuck, he must've looked tired and old, especially to this Adonis of a man.
Yoo Joonghyuk must've felt Kim Dokja's gaze because he looked down at him. Kim Dokja felt himself heat up. "What is it?" Dokja had to suppress a shiver at the sound of Yoo Joonghyuk's voice. This was unreal.
"Oh, uh…nothing!" Kim Dokja responded, he was a master of deflection after all. "It's just…you look familiar." Trying to play it off like he wasn't his biggest fan literally ever.
Yoo Joonghyuk was silent, just staring at Kim Dokja. He couldn't handle the look so he quickly ordered a strong drink, Kim Dokja would need it if he was going to survive this night.
"I'm a streamer, you might've seen me online." Yoo Joonghyuk finally responded, ordering a drink himself.
"Ah~ that's probably it!" Kim Dokja said as he took a sip of the drink. As soon as the alcohol hit his tongue he felt his head get hazier. This was just what he needed. "What's your name?"
"Yoo Joonghyuk."
"Yes, yes! I've heard of you. The video game streamer, right?" Kim Dokja tried to stop himself from speaking, but for some reason he couldn't stop talking or lying. "I'm Kim Dokja, it's crazy to meet you here!"
"Hm." Joonghyuk hummed, taking a sip of his drink and not saying anything else. Was it obvious Kim Dokja was lying? Was he catching onto him? He felt naked in front of Yoo Joonghyuk.
"What are you doing here?" Kim Dokja asked, he was unable to shut up right now.
"I wanted a drink."
"Hah, are you always so curt?"
"Usually."
After another short reply Kim Dokja finally managed to keep quiet, he was disappointed Yoo Joonghyuk seemed so uninterested in having a conversation with him, but it made sense. Kim Dokja had a perfectly ordinary personality with a below average face, there was no way he could've caught the attention of the Yoo Joonghyuk.
30 minutes go by without another word said between them, Kim Dokja felt embarrassed. Maybe he tried too hard to talk to Yoo Joonghyuk? Maybe he ruined his chances to talk to him again?
He sighed, paid the bartender, and stood up. Ready to leave.
"What do you do?" Yoo Joonghyuk questioned, his voice was a little raspy from the alcohol.
"Excuse me?" Kim Dokja asked, his confusion evident in his tone.
"Your job. What is it?" He clarified, finishing his drink.
"Oh, uh…I work at a video game company." Dokja responded, flustered by the sudden curiosity.
Yoo Joonghyuk's lips pursed, it seemed like he was taking in this information. Kim Dokja just stood there awkwardly, waiting to see if Yoo Joonghyuk would say anything else or if this would be the end of their chance encounter.
"You aren't leaving yet, are you?" Yoo Joonghyuk asked, though it sounded more like he was interrogating Kim Dokja.
"Aw, do you want me to keep you company the rest of the night, Yoo Joonghyuk?" Yoo Joonghyuk glared at that. Kim Dokja couldn't believe it. He teased the Yoo Joonghyuk, what the fuck was wrong with him? He's been fantasizing about meeting him since he was a teenager and now—by some miracle—he's met him and he seems interested in him and he teases him?
"I didn't think you were going to leave this early." Yoo Joonghyuk responded through gritted teeth. It was basically an admittance that he did want Kim Dokja to stay.
"Maybe I won't." What the hell was Kim Dokja saying? Was he flirting? He didn't know, he's never flirted with anyone before.
He sat back down, Yoo Joonghyuk looked less tense when he did. "Can I buy you a drink?" Joonghyuk asked, Kim Dokja couldn't help but grin. Maybe Han Sooyoung not being able to make it would be the best thing that ever happened to him.
