Work Text:

Recently, mob and teru had been spending more time together, pinning after each other in their own odd way. From gifts way so specific it’s almost creepy, to a movie date; which, teru was currently getting ready for.

He was trying to act cool, but he could feel the anxiety pooling in his stomach as he adjusted his hair a millimeter. He felt like if he didn’t look absolutely perfect, mob would spit in his face and walk out—despite how idiotic of an idea that is. To teru, this was life or death, so much so that he didn’t even notice he still had 4 hours until even the pre-movie ads were going to play.

Once he finished, he looked up at the clock and was stunned by the time. I mean, who gets ready 4 hours before they were supposed to leave?! And how was he supposed to stay flawless until then? He was nauseous just thinking about it. Or maybe thats just the anxiety of going on a date with mob, who’s to say.

After the initial shock wore off, he sat down on his bed with shaky shoulders and sweaty palms. He wiped his hands on his pants and took a deep breath. ‘It will be fine’ he told himself, ‘it’s only mob’ …’oh god it’s mob!!’ Then he buried his face in his hands; he’d realized he would have to spend a whole 2 hours in a dim room with his biggest crush ever—aka, mob. How was he supposed to survive this.

————————TIME SKIP————————

It had been a while, and it was now just about 50 minutes before the movie. He hurried down the stairs, buttoning his shirt and trying not to stumble over his feet. As he opened the door to his building, he noticed the outside was a stinging cold, nipping at whatever skin teru left exposed (like his hands and face). He realized he had completely forgotten about the weather, and it was too late to grab a coat or gloves. Tonight was gonna be a cold one. He made it to the curb just in time to catch a cab, and before he knew it he was at the theater! He sat down for a moment to shuffle through his bag and make sure he had everything while waiting for mob.

Soon enough, mob showed up. It was like a breath of fresh air. Just the sight of him made terus heart soar, and for a moment, forget all about the cold or the anxiety. It was like the world had slowed to the perfect shot of mob. He was adorable, even when wearing such casual clothes. It brought a love-sick smile to his face. He soon crashed back on earth once mob spoke;

“Hey teru. Am I late?”

He froze. He knew exactly what he was going to say, he was gonna look so cool—but now, his brain went blank. All he could manage was “n-no! You’re early actually!” Then after a moment, “That means we can get snacks!”

He smiled ever so slightly, which only warmed terus heart more. “I’d love snacks.”

They went inside, where mob tucked his scarf away in his bag and teru almost let out a sigh of relief at how warm it was—though, he didn’t. His only goal by the end of the night was to make sure mob has a good time. As long as mob was happy, so was he.

They went up to the counter, and waited for a worker. Soon, a teenager—barely a few years older than them—approached in the theater worker uniform.

“Hi! We’d like a large popcorn with extra butter, and I’ll have skittles and sweet tarts, plus a medium drink” then, he turned his head to mob, a smile on his face “what do you want, mob?”

He hummed “I’ll just have M&Ms.”

“Aw, come on, mob!”

“I didn’t bring a ton of money with me, and I’m not much one for candy—“

“Two slushies! One blueberry, one dragon fruit” he suddenly requested. He didn’t know what got into him, but he felt like he should.

Eventually—after much chat, and many thanks—they entered the theater. It was dark, and nearly full except their 2 empty seats and a few no-shows. It was just before the ads started, which was perfect for them. Teru led mob to their seats, almost dropping his stuff many times from his slippery palms. They sat down and watched as the ads started.

As the movie went on, mob slowly leaned against the arm rest, making teru more and more flustered—though, that didn’t mean mob was paying attention to him, he was very much locked on the movie, which kinda annoyed teru but whatever. He ‘yawned’ and stretched, resting his arm around mob, warranting a startled jump and a gradual but sweet relax into the touch. It took everything in teru to not burst into flames or blush profusely in that moment. They were only about an hour into this movie, so he had another hour of this. If he could stay here forever, he would.

He slowly felt sleepy, but luckily managed to stay awake until the end of the movie. Once it ended, he got up with mob. They threw their trash away, and sat in the lobby for a bit, teru just listened to mob go on about the movie like a love-sick pup, not hearing a word he was saying.

It’s not that he didn’t want to listen, but how could he with this cute boy in front of him? Mob was mesmerizing, in both looks and power, so it was very hard not to get distracted by that face of his. Once mob finished, teru fell back to earth, and spoke suddenly after a long moment of silence.

“Would you like me to walk you home? It wouldn’t be safe to walk home alone at this hour.”

“Sure, teru! I’d love to spend more time together.” He said with a smile as he got up and grabbed terus hand. Mob was going to be the death of him. He didn’t even hesitate! Terus hands were sweaty, to the point they were wetter than if he had washed his hands, yet mob held his hand anyway!

He pulled him along, and they looked around the beautifully lit city and pretty sunset. They were almost tempted to stay out longer, but it was already 10 pm and they had school tomorrow. Plus, mobs parents would be terribly worried. So, teru walked mob home, arms linked, like a gentleman.

By the time they stopped outside mobs house, the sun had gone down, and it was nearing 11:30. Mob and teru stopped outside mobs house just on the sidewalk in front of it—the cool breeze in their hair, the smell of soon rain in the wind, and both their faces red (which was TOTALLY from the cold.) as teru let go of mob, facing him.

“I had a good time, mob.”

“Me too, teru…” he said quietly as he looked away, making a face that was between deep in thought and lying. It made teru nervous until—

Warm. A burst of sudden joy and butterflies hit him as mob leaned up and kissed him. Slowly, teru relaxed, and butterflies turned to bliss as they melted into it. It was really barely a minute, but it felt like a life time of love and warmth. Like they were suddenly in a spring field with cherry blossoms and flowers.

“Good night, teru.”

“…g-good night, mob.”
