Chapter Text
Queen Aleena and Prince Sonic:
Longclaw:
Tom and Maddie Wachowski:
On another Planet.
"Hurry up! Hurry up, mama!" A young 3-year-old hedgehog shouted as he zoomed towards the garden.
"Sonic, wait! I'm not as fast as you are," His mother, Aleena, said.
They arrived at a small hill, where she could see a field of sunflowers, their bright yellow petals blooming and spreading a sweet aroma.
"They're blooming, mama!" They're blooming!" Sonic shouted with joy as his mother's eyes sparkled in awe.
She smiled as she looked at the flowers, "Yes, yes, they are."
Sonic rushed and hugged his mother.
Soon, Sonic zoomed around the field as Aleena sat on the hill, watching her son from afar.
Sonic curled himself into a ball and jumped straight into Aleena's arms. He uncurled himself before giggling and putting a sunflower on Aleena's head.
"Pretty like you," Sonic said.
Aleena giggled.
Suddenly, she saw her royal advisor, a giant owl named Longclaw, fighting against a group of red echidnas with her spear.
Longclaw noticed them and shouted, "Your Majesty! They are after you!"
Aleena soon noticed more echidnas approaching her and her son.
"Sonic, cover your ears!" She ordered as she held Sonic close to her.
She emitted a loud sound wave that forced the echidnas to stop and cover their ears. Saving her time to run away with her son in her arms.
She ran as fast as she could back to the palace, keeping an eye out for echidnas approaching them.
Unfortunately, an echidna was able to shoot an arrow towards Aleena's abdomen, making her fall to the ground.
"Mama?" Sonic asked with concern as he stood up and saw his wounded mother.
"Listen, Sonic. I can't keep you here any longer. Those monsters will stop at nothing to get what they want," Aleena said before she grabbed a ring and tossed it to open a portal towards another place.
"This world is on the far side of the universe. You should be safe there," Aleena said.
"But, what about you? I don't want to leave without you," Sonic protested.
"I'll be okay, Sonic," Aleena assured him as she saw more echidnas approaching.
Aleena took off her necklace and put it around Sonic's neck, "Never forget that no matter where you are, I'll always be here with you."
Sonic sobbed as he looked at the necklace.
"Now, go!" Aleena ordered.
"There she is! Get her!" the echidnas shouted.
Sonic ran towards the portal as fast as he could. He turned back, horrified as he saw the echidnas stab Aleena.
"NO! MAMA!" Sonic cried as he ran back towards the portal.
"Goodbye...Sonic..." Aleena said weakly.
"NOO!" Sonic screamed, but before he could approach Aleena, the portal disappeared. Leaving him alone in the woods.
Sonic tried to catch his breath. He stood silent as he tried to process everything that had just happened.
His kingdom was under attack.
He was sent to a different world.
His mother was...
Sonic fell to his knees before he began to cry.
...
A married couple was seen camping near the woods with their pet dog.
"How's the bonfire, Tom?" Maddie asked as she took out a bag of sausages and a can of chili.
"Almost...there..." Tom replied as he struggled to get the put on the fire.
Eventually, the fire began to appear, causing Tom to cough from the smoke, "See! I did it!"
Maddie sighed.
Suddenly, she heard sounds of whimpering echoing from the woods. Their dog, Ozzie, also heard the noises and began to bark towards the woods.
"Ozzie! Ozzie, calm down!" Tom shouted.
"Wait, Tom!" Maddie stopped him.
"Maddie?"
"You prepare the chili dogs, I'll be back soon."
"W-Where are you going?"
"I have a feeling that there's someone who needs help," Maddie said before she went into the forest.
She followed the whimpering echoes towards a small log on the ground. She couldn't see his face, but she could tell it was something different about him.
"Hey, little one," Maddie whispered.
Sonic heard her voice, peeked out to see her, and quickly hid his face in the log.
"Hey. It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you," Maddie assured him as she offered her hand.
Sonic hesitated before staring into her eyes, expressing nothing but sincerity and warmth. He slowly came out from hiding behind the log, letting Maddie see him close.
Her eyes widened as he looked at his features. He was nothing like anything she had seen before, and yet, he looked beautiful in her eyes.
The blue creature reached for her hand as he sobbed.
"There, there, little one. It's okay," Maddie whispered.
Sonic put his tiny hand on Maddie's, which was able to calm him down a bit.
"Are you lost, little one?" Maddie asked.
Sonic stood silent, but he nodded.
Maddie sighed and smiled, realizing he could understand her, "Do you have a name?"
He nodded again.
"My name is Maddie. What's yours?"
"...S-Sonic..."
"Sonic? Sonic!" Maddie repeated.
Later:
Tom was heating the chilli with the bonfire before Ozzie began to bark again as soon as he saw Maddie approaching them.
"Maddie?" Tom asked.
"Tom, I would like you to meet someone," Maddie said as she showed him Sonic, who was carried in her arms.
Tom's eyes widened at the sight of the creature, "Maddie? What is it?"
"Tom! It's not a what, it's a who!" Maddie said, annoyed, "Forgive him, Sweetie. Tom can be a knucklehead at times."
"Hey!" Tom said, annoyed.
"Anyway, Tom, this is Sonic. Sonic, this is my husband, Tom," Maddie presented them to each other.
"H-Hi," Sonic greeted nervously.
"Um. Hi?" Tom replied.
Maddie put Sonic down towards a nearby log, letting him sit in there.
"So, Sonic, what were you doing in the woods?" Tom asked.
Sonic began to sob.
Tom quickly approached him and whispered, "Hey, it's okay, you can trust us."
Maddie gave Sonic a tissue, which the latter used to blow his nose.
Sonic turned to both humans. He hesitated a bit before he began to speak up, "...Mama...Sent me...We were...being attacked...They...h-hurt...h-hurt...h-her..."
The couple's eyes widened with horror and heartbreak at Sonic's story.
Maddie hugged Sonic close as she began to sob, "...I-I'm so sorry, Sonic,"
"Me too," Tom said before he joined in their hug.
They continued to hug Sonic as they let him blow off steam. Sonic's cries echoed through the night as it created sound waves that could almost make someone's ears bleed.
Tom and Maddie were probably the strongest individuals to resist such loud cries.
After Sonic had calmed down, the couple invited him to their campout.
Tom offered Sonic a chili dog, the blue hedgehog hesitated at first before he took a small bite of it.
His eyes widened as the taste hit his tongue.
He likes it.
He LOVED it.
"Sonic?" Tom asked before the former quickly began to finish his chili dog.
"THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED!" Sonic shouted before he began to zoom around the campout.
This took the couple by surprise, realizing how fast Sonic is.
Before Ozzie quickly followed Sonic, with the intent of playing tag with him.
"Wow. He's one little speedster," Tom commented.
Maddie giggled, "He sure is."
After dinner, the couple and Sonic got inside the camping tent as it was time for them to go to sleep.
However, Maddie noticed that Sonic wasn't sleeping as he held the blanket near him.
"Sonic?" Maddie asked.
"Maddie? I-I can't sleep," Sonic admitted.
Maddie approached him.
"Mama, usually sings for me before I sleep..."
"Would you like me to sing for you?" Maddie suggested.
Sonic nodded, "...Please."
Song: You'll Be In My Heart (Christina Perri cover) {From Tarzan}
Maddie:
Come, stop your cryin', it'll be alright
Just take my hand, hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don't you cry
For one so small, you seem so strong
My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm
This bond between us can't be broken
I will be here, don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on, now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart always
Soon, Sonic fell asleep in Maddie's arms.
She smiled as she held her son close.
