Summary:

Fake flowers aren't supposed to wilt, are they?... So why is it wilting...

Aka, kalim angst, takes place after Jamil's overblot

Chapter Text

"I'm not babysitting you anymore." Jamil had stated coldly "all I'm willing to do is cook, figure the rest out on your own"

Kalim had stood there, frozen. No help.. After all those years with assistance in every task, he was left to fend for himself.

The following days he attempted to dress himself and do his makeup. He tried his best from what he had seen Jamil do, but he couldn't replicate it.

His hair ended up messy, buttons askew by one slot each, and he had to buy slip on shoes because he couldn't tie his shoes right and kept falling in the halls.

Each day he'd forget his pencil, or his book, or his phone. He just couldn't keep track of everything. It was so tiring..

Carrying his bag that was still slightly open due to having to shove everything into it for class, Kalim accidentally bumped into someone. He stumbled and tipped, falling onto his face. He quickly scrambled for his bag and got back up.

"I'm really sorry!" He cried with a guilty expression, eye bags evident due to the sleep he's lost lately and lack of makeup skills.

"Hey, it's all fine Kali-kun!" A fresh citrusy voice cooked with a smile, phone on one hand.

Cater. Thank god it was just Cater. Kalim sighed before turning to leave. "Gotta hurry to class! Sorry I can't talk right now!" Kalim said before running off.

He looked... More tired than usual, Cater noted. He understood... I mean, he always kinda figured Kalim couldn't be happy forever, no one could. Either way, class was about to start. And being sad wouldn't change when the bell would ring.

Kalim barely made it to class on time, but he managed to sit just seconds before the bell and got off with a small scolding from Trein. Just twenty minutes before the end of class, he ended up falling asleep.

His dream was pretty nice. He was a girl. And he was going on a hike with Jade. And after that he was going to a party with Cater and Lilia. Then... Jamil praised him. Said he was doing a good job being independent.

He awoke to a flick to the forehead from the heartslabyul housewarden's dainty pointer finger. "Asim. I'd advise you wake up. Class has ended. "

Kalim shot up and looked around at the empty classroom. "S-sorry! Thank you first waking me up, Riddle!" He thanked, sitting up to collect his stuff for the next class. He tried to not think too hard about the end of his dream... Or the girl part...

He rushed off to his next class, thanking Riddle again.

____

He barely made it through his next class, his eyes straining in an attempt to read the book, but he just couldn't tell what was going on. All the words jumbled up in his head.. And ultimately, he knew he'd have to find the book online and put it on text to speech later.

Then finally it was lunch. His saving grace. Who to sit with...

Lilia was sitting with the rest of Diasomnia as usual, Cater was at a table with Trey and Riddle, leaning against Trey affectionately.

And Jamil was sitting with... Octavinelle?

Either way, sitting with Jamil was off limits, the table Cater was at seemed... Kinda private. And Lilia was with his dorm. He looked around for somewhere to sit. He didn't have the energy to put on his signature smile and try to fit into a group just to sit with people.

Thats when he saw Lilia has seen him and was waving him over, having seen the boy's lost expression.

Kalim ran over to the Diasomnia table, taking a seat next to Lilia. On one side of the table was Lilia, and now Kalim by his side and on the other side was Malleus in the middle, and Sebek and Silver on either side of him, facing Lilia.

"Hello Kalim! It's good to see you!" Lilia greeted "boys, I'm sure you know my dear friend Kalim" he smiled

Kalim smiled awkwardly at the Diasomnia housewarden and his two retainers.

"Haha, thanks for letting me sit with you Lilia" Kalim scratches the back of his neck awkwardly.
