Chapter Text

The first time Troy came to the Kingfisher, it was absolutely against his will,  incredibly awkward and devastatingly miserable. Well, he was a recently cheated on and dumped, disgraced and traded, completely alone and hated by his new -and old- teammates, closeted hockey player who was forced to go to a gay bar by his weird europian captain. So it was bound to go horribly, but it only got worse when he found out who owned the said gay bar; Scott Hunter.

The Scott Hunter who Troy had the biggest crush on all through out his Juniors career, and by some miracle ended up hooking up with in his rookie year.

Troy hadn’t thought about that in a long time until that evening. He didn’t let himself think about a lot of things, afraid that there would be someone who could somehow read his mind. Troy had been afraid of many things, and he wasn’t proud of who he was. But that first night in Kingfisher, when he had to face Hunter and Eric Bennet (that was another story) with Ilya Rozanov, he actually believed, for the first time since he decided to try, that he could change, be… better.

So he was thankful, to Ilya mostly, but also to Scott, who was nothing but kind to him even after he had been an asshole all this time.

And now, three years later, he had been in Kingfisher countless times, he was out and had the best boyfriend ever, he had a team he could call family, and Dallas Kent was in jail. He had come a long way since that November and he was grateful. He hadn’t thought about his past as often and focused on his future, the one he was building with the love of his life.

He was dreaming about said future when someone called for the group loudly, “Who wants more shots!?”

It was Ilya’s birthday and they were obviously celebrating in Kingfisher with all of Ilya’s friends present, which equaled a very big group of people.

Holmberg didn’t wait for anyone’s response. “All of you are getting shots, it’s on Roz!”

Troy snorted, “Are you sure Roz should be drinking more shots? He isn’t in his twenties anymore, you know.”

Ilya’s face turned sour with betrayal as he turned around to glare at Troy. “Take that back, I am very young.”

”How old are you today, again?” he mocked Ilya, who he knew for a fact was very upset about turning 32.

”I knew this day would come.” Hunter chirped from the end of the table. “How does it feel Rozanov?”

”He really has been waiting for this day.” Kip laughed.

Before Ilya could snark back, Holmy turned up with a tray with too many shots. “Fuck yeah.” Troy murmured as he took two for him and Harris, who chuckled at his eagerness. He had been waiting to get drunk the whole season, and he wasn’t ashamed to say he had been excited for this party solely for the alcohol.

“To Ilya and his ancientness!” Cliff Marlow cheered and everyone laughed before throwing back their shots.

”You are the same age as me Marly. Shut the fuck up.”

”Last I checked, I was thirty one.” Cliff mocked.

“Which is a lot younger than thirty two.” Troy said. Ilya turned like he was going to say something but instead he just looked at Troy with something like… pride? Troy knew he wasn’t the most social guy when they first met and Ilya kind of took him under his wing, forcing himself onto a role more of a big brothers than a captains. And Troy was forever grateful to him, but it didn’t mean Ilya’s constant comments about his “small little baby lost puppy” didn’t annoy him to hell.

“Look at him making friends.” he cooed “Bonding over their shared jealousy of me.”

Shane snorted next to him and shot a look at Troy like he was apologizing for his husband, something he had to do quite often.

Cliff just rolled his eyes and continued his conversation with Wyatt. Ilya looked surprised at his lack of response but Troy knew he wasn’t going to say anything. Because, well, they kind of bonded over something other than their “jealousy of Ilya” a long time ago. Something they didn’t talk about until last year when Cliff came out to them as bisexual and Troy congratulated him after while they were having a smoke outside of Kingfisher, something no other player did but Troy also didn’t smoke often and didn’t consider himself addicted so it was alright. It was.

The thought made him want to have a smoke. Would Harris come outside with him if he asked? They could make out against Ilya’s shiny red car.  Or maybe he could drag Harris to their truck and suck him off in the back.

“I want to play a game.” Ilya said with enough volume to get everyone on the table’s attention, if not everyone at the bar’s. ”In honor of my youth.”

The rookies, who weren’t exactly rookies anymore, all shouted affirmations while Ryan grumbled something about being too old for this. Troy smiled, he wanted to play a game. Maybe he was a bit drunk, huh.

”We should play never have I ever. I want to know juicy secrets about all of you.” LaPointe cheered.

“You already know our juicy secret.” Shane laughed, but Lapointe just waved his hand. “You’re old news Hollanov-“

“Stop calling us that.” Shane interrupted, like it was a reflex to correct it, even though it never worked in the last two years.

“I want juicyer. Like what Eric fucking Bennett was doing in the eighties.”

”I was a kid, kid.” Eric mumbled. “But you don’t want to know about the nineties.” To which Kyle laughed loudly. Troy may have known what Eric Bennett was doing in the nineties, as he was his biggest fan.

”I like this idea.” Harris said. He was so handsome. “The birthday boy should start.”

”Fantastic idea, Harris, my favorite Centaur.” Ilya clapped his hands. “Never have I ever-“ he stopped to think for a second, Troy already knew he was going to target his husband. “came out as gay to a guy after sleeping with him.”

“Ilya!” Shane yelled as everyone cackled. Fucking Rozanov. Troy took a shot as Harris kept laughing at him. He couldn’t even make fun of Shane, Troy thought sadly.

“I knew you were alike!” Ilya mocked. “Did he do it while you were in bed too?”

”I acted shocked.” Harris said solemnly and Troy made an offended noise. “Shut up, it’s Hollzy’s turn.”

Shane smiled thankfully at Troy. “Never have I ever, got drunk the night before a morning practice.”

”Shane! I thought you were on my side!” Troy said before taking another shot, thankfully along with quite a lot of others.

You get drunk before practice?” he asked with shock. “And you let him?” He turned to his husband with a raised eyebrow.

”Just once, right after he came to Ottawa.”

”And he said that I had one pass to fuck up and I used it.”

“So he doesn’t know about two months ago when we-“

”Shut up Young.” Troy exclaimed. Okay, maybe he hadn’t been waiting for this night that long.

Thankfully, the next few rounds he didn’t have to drink, but it was funny to watch Shane drink when Kip said “Never have I ever had sex with a woman.”

Then it was Wyatt’s turn. “Never have I ever had sex with someone famous.”

Troy sighed as he reached for another shot.

“Do we count as famous?” Shane asked but Ilya was already downing his shot.

“I think you do.” Wyatt said. “I mean, professional athletes are famous, right?” Everyone agreed and Troy cringed at the thought.

“I mean,” he said. “They are definitely famous.” The First Husbands of Hockey were known by not only hockey fans but by everyone who had access to social media.

”Ah, don’t be modest. I don’t follow hockey but I had heard about you, Boy-Band Barrett.” Fabian chuckled and Troy grimaced at his old nickname from Toronto.  “Ugh, I forgot about that.”

“Okay.” Wyatt grinned. “Hockey players are famous, drink up boys.”

“Fuck yeah.” Harris said as he bumped his shoulder to Troys and clinked his glass with Ilya before taking his shot. Troy tried not to look at Hunter or Marlow (again, another story) as he took his shot, who were also drinking with a few others as well. So maybe people wouldn’t ask questions, Troy hoped.

”Barrett?!” Bood yelled, great. “You hooked up with someone famous?”

”Why are you only surprised by me?” Troy narrowed his eyes, but Bood only raised an eyebrow like he wanted to say ‘come on’. Troy huffed. He could talk about Adrian, he supposed. Harris, Shane and Ilya already knew.

“Didn’t you hear? They called him Boy-Band Barrett. Of course he hooked up with celebrities.” Young joked.

”I dated one actually.” Troy said, he was maybe, kind of, enjoying the shock on his friends’ faces.

“Troy used to have very bad type in men.” Ilya said with utmost seriousness. “He is very lucky he-“ he stopped to think for the word but didn’t have to wait long. “-Bagged Harris.” Shane finished the sentence and made Harris chuckle.

“I dated Adrian Dela Cruz. He cheated on me.” he explained.

“No way!” Wyatt exclaimed.

“When exactly did you date him?” Cliff asked and Troy rolled his eyes. Like he didn’t literally have sex with married women. The redeemed asshole wasn’t a good look on everyone, in Troy’s expert opinion of course.

“2018 and 2019.” he replied.

“And the asshole cheated for a year!” Ilya continued the story. “When he came to Ottawa he was like kicked puppy. That’s why he got along with Chiron better than he did with Dillon.”

”That’s because I once told Dillon I thought he was the zamboni driver.” Troy mumbled, he was a little ashamed.

”I remember that.” Evan said. “Dillon got so mad and Barrett said Oh, sorry are you just his boyfriend?.” Troy grimaced, now he was ashamed.

“Wait, so you were throwing around homophobic shit while your boyfriend was watching?” Luca asked. “That’s fucked up, dude.”

”I wasn’t.” Troy started, “I mean I was throwing around homophobic shit -sorry, again- but Adrian never watched my games.”

”You dated for two years and he never came to your games? Celebrities watch games all the time, it wouldn’t be suspicious, right?” Kip wondered.

“No, he didn’t see any of my games, like not in person, not on TV, not on social media. He didn’t really like hockey.” Troy was confused about his friends shocked faces, they knew not everyone in the world was a hockey fan, right? Harris squeezed his hand and Troy smiled at him, again, he was confused but whatever, he was holding Harris’ hand.

”Dude, he never saw you play? What the fuck.” Bood said. Harris’ hands were always so warm…

”He didn’t like hockey? It’s not a big deal, he had bigger red flags like sleeping with other men. I mean, Fab doesn’t like hockey either.” Troy replied, still not getting the point, it was like they wanted his ex to see the Asshole Troy, as Ilya dubbed it.

”But I watched every video of him on youtube, Troy. I hate hockey, but I love my boyfriend.”

Well, oh.

Whatever. He shrugged.

Shane snorted. “Well, we’re clearly more upset about it than Troy.”

”Hunter got his boyfriend to watch him and won his first and only cup, so of course he is more sad about it.” Ilya drawled.

”Shut up Rozanov.”

”It was one hell of a cup, though.” Kyle patted Scott’s shoulder.

”Never have I ever won less than two cups!” Troy said, eager to continue the game.

”That doesn’t even make sense grammatically!”, ”Fuck you Barrett.” Young and Bood yelled at the same time.

They continued with progressively worse, and funnier questions. Troy already knew too much about his teammates private lives thanks to Ilya, so he wasn’t as surprised by the things he learned as the others.

“Never have I ever heard a chirp so bad that I threw my gloves.” Luca said, which, first of all, was unfair to the non hockey players on the table. And second of all, weirdly made Troy stop to think. It was weird because there had never been a game where Troy didn’t got in a fight until he was traded, but Troy couldn’t actually remember a time where he was the one to get offended enough to start the fight. He looked around to see everyone take a shot.

“What’s the worst thing you guys have heard?” Kyle asked the group and again, Troy tried to think of something that angered him but couldn’t. Not that he didn’t hear anything on ice, but nothing actually bothered him. He always thought it was unnecessary to react to something said on ice because they were only said to make you react. So why would you react and give them what they wanted?

“Ugh, everything I’ve heard the year after I came out. I’m surprised I didn’t drop the gloves more often.” Scott said with a roll of his eyes.

”God, same. After we were outed, I was trying to play hockey and try to actively calm myself every time.” Shane shook his head tiredly. “Ilya never had the same sense. It was hard to watch him fight every game.

After their admissions, some heads turned to him, probably waiting for an input. “Hockey players aren’t really creative, are they?” Troy shrugged. “I don’t think I ever got angry, maybe just exasperated.” he said just to receive unbelieving looks.

”But you fought all the time?” Luca asked.

”Well, yeah. But I never started one. I mean you hear pretty annoying things, but no one really talked about my mom or some shit.” Nobody talked about moms in hockey, one of the two unwritten rules of the game.

Thinking back about the reactions he got after coming out, he snorted. “I remember Kent telling me I was probably sucking Roz’s dick and Roz punched him. I thought you were mad about being accused of being gay.” he addressed Ilya.

Ilya laughed. “Only thing I was mad about is being accused of being gay for you.”

Troy let out an offended gasp.

“Liar.” Bood said. “You defended him. And then kept talking about how no one could talk that way about your friend.” The rookies cooed mockingly and Ilya glared. “Clearly, Barrett doesn’t even care.”

”I do care. I just go by a different tactic then you. Like, whenever someone calls me a cocksucker, I say “Oh my god stop asking, you’re not my type.” And they go crazy every single time.”

“When we were in Toronto, there was a game where Troy got punched like four times. On the third, the guy said “Just stay down Barrett. Aren’t you tired?” and Troy said “That’s what your wife keeps saying too!” The guys laughed about it for a week.” Wyatt said and Troy giggled at the memory, the only good thing about being closeted was being able to say shit like that.

”They don’t buy that anymore.” He pouted.

Hayden sighed. “Is the reason your wife keeps getting pregnant, to have a reason not to come to your games and avoid humiliation?”  he quoted a familiar sentence. “That one made me drop the gloves.” He glared at Troy.

“Oh! That was me? Man, I don’t remember you ever hitting me.” Troy replied, trying to keep the cheek minimum.

You know I support you right? I mean, polyamory is not for me, but I think you’re very brave for wanting your wife to be satisfied.” This time, the quote came from Shane. “I didn’t even see Comeau move before you hit the ground.”

”Yeah… I remember that one. I didn’t expect him to react that much.”

“His wife cheated on him with a woman.” Shane informed them. “It was kind of a sore spot.” Troy stifled his laugh with a cough.

“I’m not even surprised Troy called it out. It’s his accidental gaydar” Harris smirked, making Troy huff.

Luckily, there weren’t any more stories of him getting beat up on camera and the game continued.

“Never have I ever had a threesome.” Scott said and, in Troy’s opinion, too many drank.

“No, because-“ Ilya started but Troy cut him off with an eye roll.

“Because Shane has a no threesome rule, we know.”

Kyle giggled with the rest of the table “How exactly do you know?”

”Because they like using me to make each other jealous as foreplay.” Troy breathed out tiredly. Troy wasn’t actually complaining, because Harris also got jealous and, well… Troy wasnt complaining.

“We do not!”

”Is revenge, Barrett. For outing us.”

”Can we let that go, please?”

”I thought I outed them?” Pike muttered under his breath.

”You did.” Ryan said curtly. “He just started the rumor.”

“I didn’t mean to! And I kept apologizing. I already promised to name my first born after four different people. I don’t know what else can I do to redeem myself.”

“That’s gonna be inconvenient.” Harris said and Troy felt himself blush at the thought that Harris was casually thinking of Troy’s future child as theirs. He hoped they would have Harris’ eyes… And smile… And everything else…

“Did you figure it out then? Before anyone else?” Scott asked and Troy shook his head.

“Nah, I was just being a bitch.”

”I told you, he actually has a weirdly good gaydar.” Harris informed everyone.

”I do not.”

“He helped me figure out I was bi.” Luca said and Troy turned to look at him with surprise.

”Dude, I didn’t even know you were until you came out to us.”

Luca just laughed. “Do you remember when we were watching the Olympics? We were watching the swimming finals and you said ‘what do you think of number three?’  and I was like ‘whaaat’ ?”

Luca kept laughing between his sentences. “You said I looked like I had opinions about him.” he said. “I thought, oh my god I do have opinions about him!”

”I was talking about his technique! Did you not swim when you were younger?”

”Well, you helped me realize what I liked about swimming the most. And I hooked up with him, thanks to your gaydar, even if it’s only accidental.”

”You’re welcome, I guess.”

”So he’s your celebrity?” Harris asked, referring to the question about famous hook ups.

”Yeah,” Luca sighed. “I wonder if he’s drinking when he plays Never Have I Ever.

”I wonder if Dela Cruz is drinking!” Lapointe jumped in.

”I’m sure he hooked up with other celebrities in Hollywood.” Young said.

“What if they said ‘Never have I ever had sex with a professional hockey player’?”

Before anyone could comment Ilya cheered loudly, “I like that question! Never Have I Ever had sex with a professional Hockey player!”

Oh no.

Kyle and Kip clicked their glasses together as Fabian was mumbling about unfairness. Troy glanced at Cliff and Scott and saw Cliff raising his eyebrows at him in question. Hunter was already taking his shot, drunk fucking asshole. To be honest, Troy was also drunk enough to not care about any consequences of his actions, so he just shrugged at Marlow before reaching for a shot and saw him do the same.

Unlike all the other rounds, there was a deep silence on the table while everyone gaped at someone with open mouths.

“I’m pretty sure that’s more people than it should’ve been.”

”MARLY! How do I not know about this?” Ilya yelled.

“You’re kidding me!” Kip asked his husband with excitement. Even Bennett was surprised, mumbling something to Hunter that sounded suspiciously like “no fucking way you fucking slut.”

Troy glanced at Harris and saw him looking back at him with a raised eyebrow. He looked amused, kind of. So Troy relaxed a little.

“I want explanations!” LaPointe screamed. “This is incredible! Fantastic! Better plot twist than the ones in Cruz’s show!” He winked at Troy.

”I also would like explanations.” Carter Vaughn said excitedly.

“Stop.” Shane said. “Don’t out anyone.” Hollander and his pure heart.

Troy looked at the two and cringed again. Maybe he shouldn’t have drank, but then he would feel like he was lying. “Well,” he started, talking slower than normal, because of the alcohol or stress he didn’t know. “Troy-“ Shane started but Troy shook his head. “I’m not going to out anyone.”

Everyone being wasted made it easier to start his story, maybe a litte too easy.

”I had a shitty life and a good gaydar.”

”I thought you only had an accidental gaydar.” Kyle mocked him.

”It is accidental. But it worked.” Troy squinted his eyes at him, what the hell, he was going all out.

”For example, my gay awakening was Eric Bennett.” He said.

Ilya almost fell out of his chair laughing. “Oh my god.” Wyatt mumbled, he was wiping his tears, this story was going to be hard for him, Troy thought.

Bennett was looking horrified. “I was thirteen, shut up.” Troy said as he pulled Ilya back on his chair.

“You really have a type Troy!” Kip laughed looking between Harris and Eric. Kyle looked at Troy with mock anger. “Back off Barrett, he’s too old for you.”

“Damn.” he heard Cliff snort. Okay maybe that wasn’t the best place to start the story.

”Again, I was thirteen and he was cool, okay.”

Even Eric seemed to find it funny now. “I remember we played together before I retired. Scott was fighting Kent in front if me for saying some slur. You came up and just stared at me like a lost puppy.” he laughed. People should really stop with the lost puppy thing. “I remember thinking who’s that weird kid.”

Hunter, who had been laughing until now, sobered up quickly. “You had a crush on him!?” When-“

”No!” Troy cut him. “If all of you stop and let me continue.” he said and Shane patted his leg. “Sorry, Troy. Continue your incredible story please.”

”Thank you.” Troy cleared his throat. “So, I had a very shitty life and good gaydar right? I wasn’t panicking because I had a crush on Bennett, I was panicking because I didn’t want to defend Kent, but I couldn’t go against him.” Troy stopped himself there, no one needed to know what went on in Toronto, not even Wyatt and Ryan knew what exactly was going on in those night outs.

”You also had good taste!” Kyle raised his glass at Troy and he chuckled.

”I didn’t have a crush on Bennett then, because in my rookie year I kind of had a crush on-“ he grimaced, he didn’t know whose reaction he was more scared of; Kip’s, Harris’ or Ilya’s.

”Is it Rozanov?” Holmberg not very silently whispered to Young, “I bet it’s Rozanov.”

”Scott-“ he tried to finish his sentence but was cut off by Ilya’s gasp ”-Hunter.”

“Oh my god.” Harris whispered as everyone glanced at the empty glass in front of Hunter. “And you didn’t tell me?”

”It never came up?” Troy tried. Then there was a silence as Troy waited for everyone to put two and two together.

“What the fuck!” Vaughn yelled as he looked back and forth between the empty glasses in front of Scott and him.

“Are you shitting me?”

”And you didn’t tell me!” Kip exclaimed at Scott.

”Love, I was surprised when he came out.”

”Wait, wait, wait.” Cliff shouted. “I’m gonna need it spelled out.”

”Hunter had sex with a twenty year old.” Ilya grunted.

“I was an adult, Ilya. And he really isn’t as old as you think he is.” Troy sighed.

”How did that even happen?” Luca asked. “Does being called slurs turn you on?” he asked Scott and Troy felt his face burn, he did not call anyone a slur. He continued before anyone could say anything else.

”The game Bennett just mentioned. I saw him at the parking lot after the game and went to apologize-“

”You never apologized to me after you called me a gay little crybaby.” Pike said.

”Are you gay, Hayden? We talked about this, it’s the accidental gaydar.”

“He once apologized to me too!” Shane told Ilya excitedly.

”So then what happened? He apologized, and…?” Kyle asked Scott, clapping his hands like an excited kid.

Scott sighed. “I told him it was alright, and to get better friends. He said he didn’t have a choice, he didn’t even have a license and Kent was driving him home. So I offered a ride.”

Ilya, Harris and Kyle burst out laughing at the same time. Troy closed his eyes and banged his head against the wall.

”I offered to drive him home.”

”Nah, I think ride is more accurate.” Troy chuckled without opening his eyes. The tequila was making it harder to feel shame by the second.

”Barrett!” Scott yelled.

“That is what he said then too.” he murmured and Harris laughed even harder, “Troy! I can’t believe I’m just finding this out.”

Troy turned his head to the side without lifting it off the wall to face his boyfriend, “Remember when you asked me where I learned to-“ he couldn’t get the rest out because Ilya clapped his hand on Troy’s mouth.

“No details, Barrett. Nobody wants to know about old man Hunter’s sex life.”

”I do! You know what he’s talking about don’t you?” Kip asked and Scott nodded, just a little uncertain.

“You learned how to give head from Scott fucking Hunter?” Cliff yelled and the table froze again. Ugh, he knew being very talented would come back to bite him in the ass. How did Marlow even figure out what it was this fast? Troy had many talents.

“Marlow, I swear to god if you’re saying what I think you’re saying,-“

”Dude! You’re ruining my story!” Troy hissed.

”No. Fucking. Way.” Wyatt choked between laughs. Cliff, to his credit, was looking a little sheepish.

You tell them.” Troy huffed, crossing his arms.

“Oh please, I didn’t ruin your story. I made it interesting. Stop whining.” Cliff rolled his eyes.

”Now, that’s not what he said then.”  Troy whispered to Harris. Maybe not whispered because The Rookies actually started to cry with laughter and Ilya tried to stand up while pointing his finger at Marlow while Shane was holding him back physically. “You’re dead, Marlow.”

Harris leaned down to his ear and actually whispered, “You’re going to whine quite a lot tonight.” Troy felt himself shiver as he looked at Harris. He knew he wasn’t actually mad and Troy was always excited about jealous Harris.

”Sit down, Ilya. You can beat him up next season. I’ll make edits.” Harris could be scary, Troy licked his lips. “Go on Troy, finish your story.”

Ilya sat down but continued to grumble under his breath, Troy made out the words “fucking asshole”, “murder” and “my brother”. He really hoped he was the brother, the thought made him smile a little.

“It was the allstars in 2016? I think. Our rooms-”

Shane gasped. “Oh no.” He really wasn’t going to finish the story like this. “We were on the same floor.” he continued. “My room was literally next to Marlow’s”

”Sorry Hollzy, but you probably had sex when I was sharing a wall with you on roadies. You can’t complain.” Troy knew for a fact that they had sex when he was in the room nexr door, unfortunately.

“No, no. You don’t understand. We were next door.” he pointed at himself and Ilya, then to Troy and Marlow. Then it dawned on him. “Eww.”

“That’s the most horrifying thing ever.” Marlow said with disgust.

Bood was wheezing now. “Finish the story of how you fucked Roz’s best friend while they were in the next room please.”

”I do not want to listen this story.” Ilya spat. “Or I will kill him.”

”You didn’t want to kill Hunter! Or Drover!” Cliff threw his hands up in exasperation.

”Harris is nice man. And Hunter is old gentleman. I know you aren’t. Fucking bastard.”

”Ilya.” Troy shook his head in mock pity. “Neither Harris or Hunter are nice or gentlemanly.”

Ilya looked for the first time in his life, horrified as he made a noise from the back of this throat. Young and Holmberg spat their drinks out at the same time but continued to howl with laughter like nothing happened. “I knew you were my favorite, Barrett.”

“I knew you were my favorite, Harris!”

“Maybe you shouldn’t forward your story that much, sweetheart.” Harris said softly.

”You’ll forward the story later! Now we want to know what happened at that Allstars.” Kyle said.

”They had a fight on ice.” Shane said suddenly. “I remember Ilya had to pull Marly back.”

”Why did you even fight at Allstars?” Ryan shook his head disappointedly.

”We technically first fought on the last game before Allstars, I don’t even remember why.”

”You told me to stop sucking off the commissioner to get more ice time because it was spoiling the game’s fun.”

”Oh. Sorry?” Troy cringed.

”Yeah, I would’ve hit you too.” Pike snorted.

”You could if you were in Allstars.” Troy snapped and instantly clapped a hand over his mouth. “Shit, sorry.”

”I love it when The Asshole comes out.” Ilya smirket at Hayden.

”No you don’t.”

”I do when it’s against him.”

Pike was going to retort but Troy cut him off.

”Anyway. Our rooms were next to each other. And he was listening to some shitty band on full volume.”

”They are not shitty.”

”And I was still angry. So I knocked on his door to tell him to cut it off.”

”Then we were kind of screaming in the midle of the corridor so I pulled him in.”

“And we started making out against the door.”

”I didn’t know I was bi until that moment.”

This time Troy joined the laugh. He passed another napkin to Wyatt who kept crying with laughter.

”Wait, important question.” Kip leaned over to ask. “Did you think, “oh I like men” before or after you kissed.”

Cliff cleared his throat uncomfortably, “After- after he left.” he muttered.

“Troy’s so gay it’s contagious.” Young said between cackles and Bood hit him on the back of his head, even though he was also laughing.

“At least my girlfriend didn’t turn out to be a lesbian.” Troy huffed.

“That’s Holmy, bitch!”

”You son of a bitch!” Holmberg made a move to throw himself to Young but Bood pulled him back. “Don’t fight kids, you never know what will come next.”

“Or who.” Evan said and they high fived while they chucked.

“I can’t believe Barrett knew about Marlow being bisexual before he did.”

“I can’t believe he continued to be a homophobic asshole after sleeping with two players.”

”I told you, shitty life and good gaydar. I think the only one I missed was Ryan. I literally had a heart attack when you came out.” He told Ryan, that was probably one of the most stressful moments of his life, which was saying something.

”Good.” Fabian narrowed his eyes. Troy rolled his eyes. “I’m not attracted to every gay, Fab.”

“Sure.” Fabian said sweetly. “I’m surprised Harris isn’t jealous.

”I came out when I was fifteen. You know we’ve lived very different lives than these hockey players.” Harris shrugged and Kyle laughed. “Thank god.”

Troy turned to Harris to pout. “You’re not jealous?”

Harris raised an eyebrow “Do you want me to be jealous?”

“No.” Troy shrugged, but he did. Harris just smiled. “Did you finish your story, baby?”

”One last thing.” Troy said.

“Oh god, please let this story be over.” Wyatt mumbled.

”I thought about asking Ilya for Shane’s number when we first met.” Troy then stood up from his chair and started to walk to the exit without waiting to see Ilya’s reaction, dragging a cackling Harris along with him.

”I already called an uber.” Harris said in a low voice once they were outside and Troy saw the car slowing down. Harris was jealous, he thought giddily.
