Chapter Text
The outside of the Playtime Factory was quiet, as it had been in 10 years since the Hour of Joy, not that most people, outside the few surviving upper management of Playtime, knew, as far as the public was concerned, the facility was simply shut down, and the rumors of all the workers and orphans going missing were just that, rumors.
But the Upper management knew otherwise, and for 10 years had been planning to take back the facility from the projects, and start again, and finally, the plan was setting into motion.
Inside the facility, the toys, the kids, the victims of Playtime's experiments, lived in peace. After the Hour of Joy there was some initial infighting as the toys figured out how to live now that they were free. After a while it was decided by the Bigger Bodies that keeping peace was their best option, they knew they couldn't leave, couldn't live in society as they were, nor did they want to. So they worked together, pooling resources to feed all the toys and keep them as safe and as happy as they could be.
For 10 years that is how they lived, the Bigger Bodied toys took charge, watching over the rest of the kids, managing their resources and rations, doing their best to keep everyone comfortable and keep fighting to a minimum. each Bigger Body had their own area that they lived in and watched over, but all of them, including the minis, were free to roam the entire facility. Except for the Orphan rooms, during the Hour of Joy, the Prototype moved the Orphans into the lowest floor, and put them into stasis, where they remain currently, waiting until the day that they are forgotten by everyone outside, where they might have a chance to rejoin society. But tonight, the normally empty lot of Playtime, is lit up, as dozens of cars and trucks pull in.
— Prototype —
The Prototype moved quickly through the highway tunnels, the highway was built years ago to make traveling around the facility easier, faster, and more convenient for the Bigger Bodies, as well as everyone else, catwalks build into the walls where for the mini critters, and the main tunnel for the Bigger ones, so they didn't risk crushing anyone on accident, the tunnels were also large enough for even Bron, the largest of the Bigger Bodies, to fit through.
And tonight, moving quickly was going to be important.
The Doctor was the first to notice the activity in the lot, through the cameras watching the entrance, he then sent Huggy to check it out, since his and Kissy's territory was right next to the entrance. Huggy confirmed the suspicions, there were a lot of people entering the lot, and now the upper level was being cleared out, and that is what Prototype is coming to check out.
Prototype slowed as he neared the crossroad to the Game Station, Mommy long legs and Daddy long leg's area, Mommy was waiting in the entrance, with Kissy and Poppy.
"What is the situation?" Prototype asked as he came to a stop in front of the three.
"Everyone upstairs but Huggy is here, in the Game Station, he's checking for anyone else who might still be up there," Poppy replied, sitting on Kissy's shoulder, one hand gently resting on Kissy's head comfortingly. Kissy was shifting side to side nervously, worried for her friend.
Mommy long legs hummed, shifting slightly in a sway, almost matching Kissy's, but hers was more energetic, wanting to go back and help the mini critters in the Game Station, "Daddy is making sure all the kids are settled, we don't have enough beds set up for all of them, since the moved down here so fast, but that shouldn't take long"
"For now, until we know why they are here, we need to be ready to leave quickly," Prototype took a step down the highway, leading towards the factory level, "its is best if you move further down, to Save Haven, and block all entrances to the Game Station."
Mommy stopped swaying, blinking, "… they won't go this far, would they? if we just block the entrances of the Game Station to the Factory they shouldn't go further."
"They might, we don't know yet," Prototype told her, "we don't know who they are, they could be the ones who where not there."
Poppy and Kissy exchanged glances with each other before looking back at Prototype, Kissy holding her arms over her chest even more nervously, Poppy hesitantly asked, "… shouldn't we wait and see what they do? before we block off anything?"
"I will go up and assess," Prototype hissed, "for now, it will be smart to move to Save Haven, and be ready to take the evacuation tunnel. turn off the train, once everyone is out." He didn't wait around to hear their reply, continuing down the highway to the factory.
Mommy, Kissy, and Poppy stayed put for a few more seconds, watching Prototype vanish down the tunnel and exchanged looks with each other, before they turned back into the Game Station, to start moving everyone down to Safe Haven, Mommy first went to Daddy Long Legs, to inform him of the situation, and to set up groups to start blocking the entrances to the Game Station.
Prototype continued until he reached the end of the tunnel, pushing open the wall to step into the factory, it had been a long time since he came all the way up here, not only because his area was in the labs, almost at the bottom of the facility, but because he never needed to come up here, the two highest levels were, comparatively, the smallest areas, and there were 5 Bigger Bodies sharing the space, making it the most protected part of the facility besides the Doctors labs, but being the most protected wouldn't mean anything if he was right about this, which he was very sure he was.
He silently moved through the factory, having to go slow or squeeze through the small hallways, this was another reason he didn't come up here often, it was not built for anything much larger than a human to move through easily, but he managed. he didn't call out, or make any noise other that the quiet jingle of bells and the taps of his spider legs against the floor.
Prototype found Huggy near the entrance, in the circular room Huggy used to stand in when the factory was still ran by humans, and even from here he could hear the noises of humans and equipment outside, it sounded like a lot more people than he had hopped.
Huggy turned his head to look over at the Prototype as he crouched through the hall to join him, his spider legs carefully maneuvering his large body into the slightly more open space where Huggy is, once he was clear of the hall he stood up fully and turned to face the door where the noises were coming from. the two stayed silent, listening to the noise, that was thankfully staying outside.
It was hard to make out anything being said, even with Prototype's sharp hearing, but they could hear a lot of yelling, orders, huge engines roaring, and what sounded like marching. Definitely not random visitors.
The two stayed there for a few more minuets, listening to the sounds outside, waiting to see if anything came in, nothing did, yet. Prototype turned to face Huggy, voice as quiet as he could make it, "everyone clear?"
Huggy nodded at him, turning to face the door again for another second before starting to head back the way the Prototype came. Prototype shifted out of the way so Huggy could go first, he glanced at a camera in the room, watching it as the red light blinked at him, he then turned and followed Huggy, exiting as quietly as he had came in. the two continued back through the factory, taking a slightly different route to check every spot that a critter might be hiding, while most of the critters were content with the way the Bigger Bodies handled things, some didn't, and created small fracture groups that lived separately from everyone else, they usually kept to themselves but Prototype still hoped that all of them had moved down the facility.
It wasn't long before he and Huggy reached the entrance to the highway, they paused there, listening again, for any signs of critters, or something entering the building. The Prototype internally debating what to do, he hoped he was wrong, if the group of humans outside were trying to capture the facility or not, there was still the possibility it could just be a random group, but from what they had heard at the entrance, it was unlikely that group was safe. Prototype moved first, opening the highway door and waiting for Huggy to come in, then he moved to the wall, to the supports, when building the highway tunnels they knew this day could come, where the humans that weren't there for the Hour of Joy came back to capture them all again, so they built the entrances of the tunnel to be collapsible.
Prototype gripped the support, glancing over at Huggy, Huggy was holding the other support, watching him as well, Prototype nodded and pulled the support, the support crumpled and pulled on the mechanism hidden above them to start collapsing the tunnel, he heard Huggy pulling the other as well, then he ran down the tunnel before it collapsed on top of them, he felt a thump on his back and spared a glance back to see what that was, Huggy had jumped onto his spider like abdomen and was holding on, since the Prototype was faster, Prototype returned his focus to running down the collapsing tunnel to the Game Station.
It didn't take him long to reach the Game Station, the tunnel settling behind them a dozen meters away from the crossroad into the game station, each section of tunnel was collapsible, but it was build to stop at each crossroad, so the entire thing wouldn't give out if one section collapsed, as the Prototype slowed down to catch his breath Huggy slid off his back and hurried into the Game Station, Prototype followed him.
Inside the Game station the others were panicking, having felt the rumbling of the collapsing tunnel, Mommy and Daddy long legs were doing their best to comfort the mini critters, while also still trying to get as many onto the train with the supplies to move down to the Safe Haven as they could. Poppy and Kissy were pacing near the highway tunnel, pausing as Huggy and Prototype entered.
"Thank goodness your both ok! what happened?" Poppy asked as she followed Kissy, who rushed over to Huggy, checking him over to make sure he wasn't hurt.
"The tunnel to the Factory is collapsed, there are many outside, waiting to come inside," Prototype replied to Poppy, stepping closer to her.
Poppy hums unhappily, looking out at the tunnel, fiddling with her hair, "… So this is it?"
Prototype tilts his head with a click, then slowly lowers down, his front set of legs stretching forward to bring his torso down so he can offer his hand to Poppy. Poppy hesitates before stepping into his hand, holding on to one of his clawed fingers. Prototype slowly lifts back up, twisting to place Poppy down on his back, "No, we will leave, before they reach us."
Poppy settled in a seam between his torso and abdomen, sighing, "… what are we going to do once we leave?"
The Prototype was quiet for a moment, walking over to help Mommy and Daddy long legs gather the children, finally replying "we will figure that out, once we are safe."
"… Ok… your right" Poppy sighs again, staying quiet for now as she watches the others herd the critters towards the train. Huggy and Kissy walk ahead of the Prototype and join Mommy and Daddy, Huggy starts picking up boxes of supplies to put on the train, while Kissy starts scooping up stray critters. Prototype helps as well, using his spider legs to gently steer the critters towards the train, while also picking up a box as well.
Poppy fiddles with her hair again, Prototype makes a mental notes to ask her how shes feeling later, once they are in Safe Haven with a lot of walls between them and the people up top.
A crackle of static bursts out from a speaker next to one of the cameras, catching everyone's attention, Prototype's head snaps around to look up at the camera.
"I thought I would just let you know, you will have guests arriving shortly," Doctor Harley Sawyer spoke through the speaker, sounding bored, with just an hint of amusement, he wasn't worried for himself, he knew that Playtime wouldn't kill him, they needed him, him and his intellect, but he had to do his job as security for the toys, "oh, and they are, heavily, armed."
Poppy stiffened on Prototypes back, clutching her hair that she had been fiddling with, "H-How long do we have? until they get here?"
"Hm, at the pace they are moving, and how many entrances have been blocked already, I'd say about 20 minutes," the Doctor mused.
Prototype made a ticking sound as he tilted his head slightly, pulling up his view of the cameras, sure enough, he spotted a large group of humans moving through the factory, there were at least 15 of them, and more coming in, and they were armed. He set down the box he was carrying then carefully plucked Poppy off his back and set her down as well, flicking through the cameras, looking at all entrances to the Game Station, the groups of critters sent out to block them had already blocked most of them, all but one so far, the large hole that had been dug out to let the larger toys up to the Factory before the tunnels had been built.
"Get everyone down to Save Haven quickly. I will hold them off, for as long as I can," he said, glancing over at the others, "I will block the train tunnel behind me."
Poppy started to protest, then cut herself off, trying to think of how to reply before sighing, "be safe, please."
"I will." Prototype turns and starts running towards the hole up to the factory.
— Poppy —
After Prototype left, Poppy started to help by guiding the terrified critters to the train station, she couldn't see much from the ground, being the same size as the little toys, but she could see Mommy, Daddy, Huggy and Kissy hurrying around, grabbing as many boxes of materials as they could get onto the train.
"The train is launching! please step away from the tracks," Mommy said after a few more minutes, once they had loaded as many boxes and critters onto the train as they could fit, climbing out of the front of the train and quickly shooing the critters away, "follow Daddy through the highway tunnel to Safe Haven."
The crowd of remaining critters started to follow Daddy Long Legs as he lead them to the tunnel, Poppy looked around, moving through the crowd and to the side to get out of the group, looking for Kissy, it didn't take long before Kissy scooped her up and settled her on her shoulder, once Poppy was settled she looked over at Mommy and Huggy, who had hopped off the train station, following the group of critters.
"Is that everyone?" Poppy asked as Mommy and Huggy joined her and Kissy.
"Yes, at least what we can get," Mommy replied, glancing around the room once more time, "… I know we won't be able to come back… I'm… going to miss this place."
Huggy made a low growl in agreement, even with all the bad memories, they had made a home here, all of them, it was terrifying to have to leave, even if they had prepared for this day to come, because the only thing they couldn't prepare for, was what was going to happen once they left, where would they go? where would they live? how would they stay safe, Poppy was scared, of they unknown, but she was more scared of what would happen to them all if the company captured them.
"… I am to… but we will find another home, one even better than this," Poppy proclaimed, trying to reassure the others.
Mommy took a steading breath, then lead the others into the tunnel behind the critters, some of the critters had climbed up to the catwalks, but most of them hadn't bothered and were running behind Daddy, once in the tunnel Mommy stopped, Huggy and Kissy also stopped.
"Kissy, Poppy, you two go ahead, yell at us when you are cleared of the collapse range, Huggy and me will wait here to collapse it," Mommy said to Kissy and Poppy, Huggy nodded and took a step towards one of the supports.
Poppy argued, "we can't leave you! we'll all go together," she was going to say more but Kissy made a quiet noise, catching her attention, Poppy blinked up at Kissy, had she missed a conversation?
"We won't be able to tell when all the critters are clear of the tunnel, and Daddy can't yell loud enough for us to be able to hear him here, Kissy and Huggy can hear each other, so at one of them needs to follow to let the other know up here when the tunnel is clear," Mommy explained, "and, sorry Kissy, but Huggy has better grip strength, so it has to be me and Huggy here and you and Kissy down there."
Poppy argued again, "but what if the tunnel collapses too fast? what if you can't make it in time?"
"we won't go down this tunnel, or at least I won't, I know I'm not fast enough to outrun it," Mommy said, calm, she had already planned for this, "as soon as the tunnel is triggered I will go through the train tunnel, and I'll help the Smiling Critters unload the train and move everything down to Safe Haven."
Poppy tried to keep auguring, but Kissy patted her head, stepping back from the other two, ready to turn around, Poppy sighed, slumping once she realized she won't be able to talk them out of this, "… alright, we'll see you soon"
"see you soon," Mommy responded, then made a shooing motion at them, "now go."
Kissy turned and started following the group of critters and Daddy.
— 1 hour later —
The rest of the trip down to Safe Haven was uneventful, there were several rumbles, the collapse of the tunnel from Play Care to the Game Station, and another rumble 10 minutes after the first that Poppy hoped was the train tunnel to Play Care collapsing, witch meant they should be safe for now.
Safe Haven was crowded, critters from all over the facility, both higher and lower, were still arriving, the main room of Safe Haven was blocked off so all the Bigger Bodies can have a meeting, while all the Critters settled outside in the caves, sorting materials that they would need, and what they could leave behind.
Poppy paced the main room, waiting for everyone to arrive, Doey, Mommy, and Daddy were helping the critters and moving the last of the materials from the top three floors with the help of the Smiling Critters crew, other than Catnap, who was pacing with Poppy, he was worried for Prototype, who hadn't shown up yet, Poppy hadn't even heard if Mommy and Huggy saw him after they felt the second tunnel collapsing, they only knew if was the train tunnel because the Doctor had confirmed it, as well as confirming he saw Prototype running down the train tunnel.
Speaking of the Doctor he was leaning against the wall in his main robot body, watching Poppy and Catnap pace, he hadn't said anything yet, witch was surprising, normally he loved to rant, maybe he was just enjoying watching every toy in the facility panic and running around.
Huggy and Kissy were sat in one of the tents, resting against each other as they waited.
Poppy got tired of pacing after a while, sighing and walking over to join Kissy and Huggy, Kissy patted the ground between her and Huggy, shifting slightly so Poppy can join, Poppy happily settled in-between them, leaning against Kissy.
"… I hope Ollie is ok," Poppy whispered, she knew Prototype hated being called Ollie, but no matter how long its been, or what he looked like, she would always see him as her little brother, she just had to careful not to call him Ollie around him, otherwise they would fight.
Kissy chirred softly in response, she hoped he was ok as well.
A few minutes later, Doey, Mommy and Daddy, and the Smiling Critters crew stepped in, closing the door behind them so the little's couldn't eavesdrop on them, Poppy perked up and stood up as Kissy and Huggy did, Kissy scooped her and deposited Poppy on her shoulder, walking out of the tent with Huggy to join the rest.
"Have you seen Ol- Prototype yet?" Poppy asked hopefully.
Doey sighed, stretching an arm to pull down a table from a ledge above them, setting it up for them all to gather at, and for Doey to put the List on the table for all of them to see, "not yet… Doctor? have you seen him?"
The Doctor's screen rolled its eye, pushing off the wall and walking over to join the rest, "no, but there are lots of routes through Play Care without cameras."
Doey hummed, waiting as everyone present settled around the table, "well… we need to get started of the List, we can catch him up when he gets here."
Catnap grumble-growled unhappily, but settled next to DogDay, DogDay gently patted his shoulder in an attempt to comfort
"so… what do we need to do?" Picky Piggy asked, fiddling with one of Hoppy's ears, they were all nervous in their own way, and dealing with the stress their own way as well.
Doey made a clearing through noise, he didn't need to, he didn't have a throat, but it was just habit, he lifted up the List, it was one of the Prototypes ideas, for if they even needed to leave the facility, as well as the exit tunnel, witch was next to Safe Haven, that was why they all had to meet up here, Doey looks through the list, it was short, just a few procedures and notes on what to take, and things to look into before leaving, he picked the first thing on the list, "first is moving everyone to the exit tunnel."
"Which we are already working on," Mommy said.
"How long until everyone gets here?" Poppy asks Mommy and Daddy, since the two had been doing the most with gathering all the critters so far.
Daddy Long Legs spook before Mommy could, "an hour at least, maybe more if we want to do a deep search for everyone."
Doey thought for a moment, "so at least 4 hours, we want to get as many as we can," he looked up from the list to look at Mommy and Daddy, "would you and Mommy work on that?"
"Yes," Mommy nodded enthusiastically, Daddy also nodded.
"Alright, what about Miss Delight? and Lilly?" Doey said, mentally checking off everyone that wasn't a mini critter, there were a few other animalistic bigger toys, like Boxy, Yarnaby, Pianosaurus, PJ, and Bunzo, but Doctor had long ago claimed them under his protection, and they had already been brought up when Doctor had come up from his labs.
"Miss Delight was looking for all the critters and clearing out Play Care," DogDay said, still gently petting Catnap.
"And we will pick up Lilly along the way, we have to search her area anyways," Mommy said, shifting slightly, wanting to go look for all the little kids, but staying for the rest of the meeting, Daddy Long Legs pats her hands in support, he wanted to go to.
"Ok, good… what about Bron?" Doey asked, Bron moved areas every so often so no one Bigger Body had claimed him under their protection, plus Bron was sometimes conscious, even though he couldn't talk, he was all the toys best supply of food, he still felt bad about having to tear open his stomach to fill theirs, but as far as they could tell, Bron couldn't feel it, or at least they hopped he couldn't.
The Doctor finally spoke up, "already patching him up, he'll be good to move in an hour"
Doey blinked, but shook off his surprise, "ok, speaking of, Doc, have you got everything you need?"
The Doctor sighed, knowing Doey was talking about his body parts, "also working on it."
Doey looked back at the list, so that was the first thing covered, getting everyone moved, moving on to the next part of the list, "ok… and we are getting as many materials as we can get… including the Poppy Gel and medical supplies… but we need something to carry everything in."
Huggy made a quiet screech, his version of talking, Kissy responded as well, making her own noise in agreement to whatever Huggy said.
"Do you guys have something in mind already?" Poppy asked, looking between the two.
Huggy nods, hands moving up and down like he wanted to grab something that wasn't there.
"Great! ok, if you need anything we don't have here to build whatever you need, just let us know and I'll find it," Doey told them.
Kickin Chicken made a coughing noise to get their attention, "um, is there anything we can help with?"
Doey though for a moment, Poppy spoke up before he could think of something, "scouts, could you set up a scouting group? so we know where the intruders are, and to find a route outside, the humans are probably patrolling, looking for us escaping."
Crafty Corn perked up, hopping in place, "we can do that! Right guys?"
The other Smiling Critters all spoke in agreement at once, Catnap huffed a small cloud of red smoke, sitting up.
Doey smiled at their enthusiasm, but his smile faded when he looked at the last thing on the List, "ok… ok, just one more thing then… the… the Orphans."
The room turned quiet for a while, everyone thinking and having their own reactions, Poppy knew they would have to figure that out before they left, she had just hopped that they would be able to help the Orphans on their own time, once they were sure the kids could leave and have a place to do, right now? She had no idea what to do.
Doctor spoke first, after a good minute of silence passed, "well, unless you want the company to get them back, you should kill them."
Poppy jolted, as well as almost everyone present,"what?? No!"
Kissy hissed, fur fluffing up in agitation, Huggy for once was the one who calmed her down, putting his hand on her shoulder, he was also puffed up in agitation, but fighting wasn't going to help right now.
Doey glared at the Doctor, "absolutely not, we are not doing that."
DogDay spoke up for the rest of the Smiling Critters, who were so shocked they didn't even make a noise, just staring at the Doctor, "why would you even think that?? we can take them with us."
The Doctor rolled his eye, scoffing, "and how do you propose we do that? we are low on food as it is, and none of it is fit for human consumption, how are you planning to take them all with us? Unless you think we can wait another few weeks for them to fully wake up and be physically able to move and keep up, as well as be able to feed them, which again, we cannot, it is infeasible to bring them with us. Besides, what would your plan be for if that idiotic plan even works, and we do get them out and don't get captured, what then? If you let them go they will tell others, no matter how much they promise they won't, and Playtime will simply capture them again once they go back into civilization anyways. So the best option is to put them out of there misery."
The room was quiet again for a long moment, Doey hesitantly spoke up, "… no, we are not going to kill them…" He sighed, putting his hand on his face like he was pinching his nose, "but you are right… we can't take them with us… not yet…"
Poppy blurted out, still in shock of the Doctor suggestion, "we can't just leave them to get taken!"
"We won't, we won't," Doey reassured her, "… we just… can we hide them? move them deeper or somewhere else the company won't be able to find them?"
The Doctor though that over, "hm… that is definitely a interesting idea, unfortunately, it won't work, there is no where in this facility that they won't look once they take it over, and moving them will cause the same issues as taking them with us, if they wake up they will need food we do not have. So again, they only way you can keep them out of Playtime's hands, is to kill them."
"No," a harsh glitching voice spoke from the entrance of the room, Poppy jumped and spun around, lighting up as Prototype steps in, she was always surprised how quietly he can move into a space without others noticing, "we will make them think we did."
Doey also lights up, moving to the side to give Prototype room to join them at the table, "Prototype! we were worried."
Poppy watched him walk over, frowning slightly at the weird lopsided way he walked over, she knew how he normally moved, she had spent many days and nights riding on his back, the gentle rocking of his steps was soothing, she loved to join him on patrols, and usually ended up falling asleep. So she could easily see that he was moving strangely, he was lurching forward every time he walked, it took Poppy a moment to spot what was wrong, his front left claw was folded up, forcing him to walk on the knuckle joint of his leg, she couldn't see from her current angle what was causing it, she hopped down from Kissy's shoulder, "are you alright? what happened? … your leg-"
Catnap seemed to notice as well, getting up fully and hurrying over to his friend, waiting for Prototype to pause so he could slip under the leg that was injured to support him, once his leg is suspended Poppy can easily make out what was wrong with his leg, the joint of his claw was heavily damaged, and the muscles and wires attaching the claw to the leg were severed and dangling, she winced, that has got to hurt, but it also made her worried, what kind of weapons where those humans carrying that could do that to him?
"I will function" Prototype interrupted Poppy before she could continue, carefully lowering himself to a sit once at the table, shifting slow enough so Catnap could move out of the way, but he didn't take his leg off of Catnap's back.
Doctor's eye squinted at Prototype, in skepticism or something similar, Poppy doesn't spend enough time around him to know, "oh? and how do you suggest we "pretend" to kill the orphans?"
The Prototype shifted slightly, legs moving to better hold him up, he wasn't fully sitting, just squatting close to the ground, getting up from a full lay, where his belly was flat against the ground, was difficult, "bury them, without waking them up, they need no help, and can stay asleep, for as long as we need"
The Doctor scoffs, holding his arms over his chest, "you will have to be careful then, bury them too much, and you'll crush them, bury them too shallow? and Playtime will find them."
"I know you can figure that out" Prototype says, then waves a clawed hand dismissively, ignoring the Doctors sputtering protests to being assigned that task, he turns his torso to look at Doey, "have you gone over the list"
Doey nods, putting the list down on the table, since they didn't need it anymore, "yes, the orphans was the last thing we had to figure out."
"good," Prototype replies.
"We just need at least 5 hours to make sure everyone gets here and ready, then we should be good the leave," Doey says.
The Prototype hums, "then I will make sure we have 5 hours."
"But right now," Poppy says quickly as Prototype starts move to stand up, "you need to rest, and get that leg treated."
"I will function," Prototype says again, slowly standing up anyways, shifting slightly to lean more weight on his right side, so Catnap wouldn't get squished.
"She's right," Doey says, stepping closer to Prototype, hands slightly up, ready to catch or support him if he lost balance, "you get some rest, at least for a few hours, with the tunnels collapsed they shouldn't be able to get down here for a while, hopefully until we get out."
Catnap hum-growls in agreement, blinking up at his friend, expressing pleading with him to rest.
Prototype doesn't move for a few seconds, finally he vents out a sigh, "… fine, only for now."
Mommy claps her hands excitedly, already stood up and ready to get to work, "great! lets go!"
— Prototype —
Everyone starts moving, heading for the door to start their tasks, Kissy starts to head over to scoop Poppy, but stops when Poppy motions to her to go ahead, Kissy watches Poppy start heading over to the medic room, then she follows Huggy out.
Prototype waits until everyone is out of the way before he finally lets Catnap lead him over to one of the side rooms and into a nest that's just big enough to support him, once he is settled down Catnap starts raiding the other remaining nests, adding to the one Prototype is in. Prototype watches his friend build the nest to support his bulky body and the injured leg, then Catnap climbs in and settles in a loaf against his friends side, head resting on one of Prototype's legs, eyes going dark as he settles.
Prototype gently starts petting Catnaps back, listening to him purr, he was tired, but was still too worked up to fully rest right now, his head jerks around with a few clicks, looking up at the door, hearing footsteps, little footsteps, Poppy enters, holding a bag, he is quiet as she comes over to the nest and offers him the bag.
"Here, for your leg," she says.
Prototype hesitates for a few moments before carefully plucking the bag from her hands, checking its contents, it was a med pack, with bandages and a small sewing kit and bottles of various substances, and a container of healing Poppy Gel, he hums, looking down at Poppy.
"Thank you," he replies, pulling out the Poppy Gel first, popping it open to apply to his joint.
Poppy smiles, "your welcome… rest well," she hesitates, like she wanted to say more, but doesn't, instead just giving an awkward wave before turning to head back out to help the others where she could.
Prototype watches her leave, then goes back to tending his leg, using the sewing kit to stitch the broken ligaments back to their place, then once he's satisfied he wraps it up with the bandages, just to keep it in place. Then he finally settles to rest, torso twisting around to lay onto of his spider back, propping his head up on onto of his arms, venting deeply before turning off his eye, and letting his mind drift.
