Jay hcs
-Jay sometimes sends out small sparks of electricity when he sneezes. Has the kitten sneezes of the group, especially Rogue.
-Pre-merge, he would wear an orange scarf (like his movie counterpart) when he got a cold.
-Collects random things he finds. (He has an entire drawer dedicated to the stuff he has collected.)
-Loves sour food.
-Wii and Kahoot music plays in his head all day, and he will hum along to it sometimes.
-He has ADHD. I'm sorry for him but argue with the wall.
-He can't sleep or do something in silence. Silence is too loud for him, and it makes him think bad things, that's why he always talks.
-He hates seeing someone sad, he feels like he’s the one to blame for it.
-In the first seasons he had straight hair and no freckles because he hates how curly his hair is and his freckles, so he hides them. But one time Nya saw him and she really liked it so he doesn't do that anymore.
-Cole was his best friend since grade school.
-He was pulled out of school by his parents in junior high because of horrible bullying.
-He's actually good at lying and acting but doesn't use it because he doesn't like it and it makes him remember his dad.
-When he gets upset, his powers mess with the electricity, and he doesn't notice. Nya's the only one who knows how to calm him down when that happens. If he gets a panic attack, he can affect the weather in the area and cause thunderstorms. Coincidentally, he’s also afraid of loud storms, which doesn’t help panic attacks. (Yeah, these two kinda add fuel to the fire, or lightning, I guess.) Also the team calls this thundercrying when it happens.
- Jay sometimes stays up replaying old battles in his head, thinking of what he could've done better.
-He hides his fear of being replaced behind overconfidence. "They can't get rid of me!" sounds a lot better than "Please don't leave me.”
-He gets... oddly sentimental when he sees Rain, he always prepares a cup to collect the rainwater, he doesn't know when this hobby started, but it always makes him miss Nya... somehow.
- Sometimes, when he's spending time with the Ninja, his chest aches- like he's missing people he can't name.
-There's a familiar sense of friendship he can't shake. Sometimes, when he sees the others bickering, he gets deja vu so strong it makes his head hurt.
-He keeps a notebook of random memories that come back to him- dreams, flashbacks, anything. He calls it "Project me".
- He's scared of remembering everything... but even more scared of forgetting forever.
-Sometimes he’ll accidentally say things like "Nya would love this" or "Cole's probably hungry again” and then pause... confused why those names always give him a feeling of deja vu.
-Jay doesn't like looking at reflections. Every time he does, he feels like the person in the mirror knows something he doesn't.
His eyes were tri-colored when he was little. (4-11) essentially his left eye was blue, his right eye was brown, and there was a yellow overlay on the top half of both of his irises. Other ppl described it as “his eyes just aspired to be a rainbow or smth” No, i do not think about this a lot.
-When he’s overwhelmed or really tired, he can’t see humans for some reason and they all appear as silhouettes with white eyes. He gravitates to Lloyd unknowingly during this because Lloyd isn’t dominantly human and he can still see his face, along with Wu and Zane/pixal.
-He’s really lightweight, not reason for concern light, but anyone on the team can pick him up really easily. (I personally don’t see it as an ED (eating disorder) but the possible angst of it might make me change my mind) It has gotten to worrying levels for Rogue though, since he’s a lot more independent but doesn’t eat as much. He wears padding under his clothes to make him look less skinny.
-He will stay outside on the bounty to protect it from lightning strikes (maybe canon since they used my boy like a LIGHTNING ROD) but he'll stay out too long and get lost in thought or sick from the rain and Nya, Lloyd, and Kai have learned this and watch for when his hair is too staticky bc it indicates when he's sick.
-One time on a mission, Jay hijacked a vending machine once for a bag of chips. It triggered six alarms and a self-destruct sequence. He got this memory back and still defends the decision, despite not remembering the taste of the chips. (“They were limited edition and about to stop being marketed, you don’t understand.”)
-Jay can actually charge his devices on his own, though he doesn’t trust himself enough to not crispy up the tablet or whatever it is (he actually got his switch 2 to display an infinite battery symbol, now it never runs out of battery and he brags abt it to everyone WAY TOO MUCH for someone who doesn't even know how they did it) but he'll always stay near Zane for internet/wi-fi (bonus: Kai told jay to do the infinity charge thing for his phone but jay accidentally fried it; Kai still hasn't forgiven him)
-He is of the ‘barely a person’ category in the morning. Kai, Cole and Zane are the ‘annoying morning people’ group, Nya is in the ‘absolutely not a morning person’ class, and Lloyd is also in the marginally alive category with Jay.
-adding on to the previous one, Lloyd and Jay have multiple times, but on separate occasions, come trudging out of their room in full oni/dragon form, made a cup of instant coffee, and just laid down on the couch. Lloyd has a mock therapy session on his own, and Jay will literally just zap on the tv until he wakes up.
-The lightning chicken from s11 kinda just became a cat, like an aggressive cat, for jay since he can't be hurt too much by it. It's laid on his lap while he was sleeping, and Kai swears to the FSM that he heard it purring on jay once.
-After seeing that Sora copied his glider in s3 pt1, Jay made a prototype for a new version that he could move around more freely with. Since he got his memories back/getting them back, he hasn’t finished it, but they look like Murder drone wings.
-One time him and cole tried seeing how long it would take for a fork to explode in the microwave, trusting his “instincts" to tell him when to stop it at the perfect time (the microwave exploded all over the kitchen)
-Actually, he did this with Kai too, and Kai actually did stop it at the right time.
-Weirdly good at all video games, like Steven he asian mode good at them (yes Steven he probably exists in the ninjago-verse) but has a love-hate relationship with hollow knight silksong because it’s the one game that’s really challenging for him but it’s so hard that he keeps dying to a minion enemy and losing all the rosaries. (The economy is in shambles and this was basically a vent hc for me, I mean, I could see it happening to him)
-Because of almost turning into a snake, he has a really hard time regulating his temperature. In the winter, the rest of the ninja team draws straws for who has to take care of Jay. (Well, Jay also throws a fit because everyone has to know that he’s sick. Note: A bit OOC, I know, but I like this anyway)
- Also because of the snake drama (and the author not letting Jay just exist and be happy), he has a pair of snake fangs. Post-merge and shattering his soul, though, he got a pair of wolf canines. (Soooo the carpet would like you to think that his teeth kinda resemble murder drones except for the gigahumongous expanding goliath-sized mouth, so.. um, yeah! Please think that, I think it’s a cool take on snake and wolf traits!)
Lightning elemental genetics!!
(Read for amazing super duper-fantastical medical inaccuracies!!)
-They all have generally fluffy, but not necessarily curly, hair. The hair color genes usually don't overpower the hair (hair would be naturally white if no genes stopped this.) Their genetic makeup tends to make them look thinner, and have whiter skin even if their parents have dark skin.
(Contrary, earth can make an individual have darker skin no matter their race/ethnicity.)
-Lightning elementals have a generally slim build and if they were to swap elements for some reason, their muscle would be much more prominent. While rare, some with stronger power can have a weaker constitution, aka their legs.
Sometimes this only lasts for childhood, but this leads to weaker endurance and stamina while running. This deficit in strength due to the fact true potential and pure forms can levitate. (I apply this to Jay, when he said he was bad at running as a kid, I thought of this and actually this is why this genetics board got created)
-Anxiety/ADHD are also fairly common to inherit.
