This Mortal Realm
Hey, is it surprising
Their silhouettes are fleeting
Hey, please understand
Everyone comes, and everyone goes
The world’s only constant, is that people adapt
Just passing through, even love will expire
Then give way to heartbreak
Experience should lead to tolerance
Still passing through, building defenses
But undeniable, if given a chance
The cycle starts again
Have you moved on? Or do you yet linger?
Each fluttering butterfly
Is you isn’t it?
Some feelings are indescribable
But I lost the “me” that existed while you lived
Your instructions, reminders, and qualities
Are now all precious keepsakes
But Dad, in truth
I still can’t face the world alone
Some people, some things
I just don’t want to let go
Mom sees you more often in her dreams
I guess you trust I can make my own way now
You didn’t leave behind much
But I am one of them
So, where has all the time gone?
In a blink, children grow up
Life gradually improves
Loved ones gradually leave
To live means to pass
There’ll be a welcoming light ahead
Even if tears are unavoidable
Someone will always take on the burden
Through each and every checkpoint
Hand in hand, side by side
Fate becomes intertwined
Blessed to be loved in this life
Dear, you must remember
Many people love you
Love this world
And everything that entails
Seeing radiant flowers through the tears
Just passing through, each brush of shoulders
Both an eternity, and an instant
You and I, we have both been let down
Just passing through, each iteration
In the end, if we’re lucky
Nothing will be owed
Life endlessly loops
Each person a beat
There’s no foretelling which beat will be last
Each life has a lens
In which souls are seen
It can be noticed, but not understood
Patiently gaze at the sky
Awaiting a bright sign
Then ascending the stairs
To open up the door
Seeing real galaxies
If I’m not only “me”
Then maybe I’ll see
The one I miss most
In this game called life
Some aim high, some follow the flow
Journeying then returning, learning then losing
Elevating then falling, fighting then repeating
Witness proudly honed blades
Declare epic loyalties
Passing through shared lifetimes
From total strangers to chosen brothers
My defeat, my fight, my tolerance, my obstinance
My fear, my mania, my struggle, my freedom
Let the baseless accusations congregate
And scream aloud as they whip about me
A destined to be forgotten name
A tethered eagle yearning freedom
A soldier who won’t surrender
Even heavily wounded, I will find the brightest star in the night sky
People have romanticized love and eternity
Even if each cycle is mere decades
For love, people willingly squander years
Enduring living, leaving, and vices alike
Each cycle spent upon these
Those who object must truly feel
Desolate within and
Completely abandoned
To find living
Such a waste
