Summary:

For as long as Beomgyu could remember, he had hated Soobin, and not only because of the way he acted. No, it was because Soobin took it upon himself to start copying everything Beomgyu did: his fashion sense, his humor, his music, the instruments he played, hell, even his friends. He hated Soobin. For as long as Beomgyu could remember, he had hated Soobin, and not only because of the way he acted. No, it was because Soobin took it upon himself to start copying everything Beomgyu did: his fashion sense, his humor, his music, the instruments he played, hell, even his friends.

Today was no different than any other day. Beomgyu’s group of friends, and Soobin, were all at lunch, eating whatever school food was served that day. Well, the rest of them were; Beomgyu and Soobin, on the other hand, were arguing about how Soobin took the last fruit cup.

“Okay, Beomgyu, you don’t even eat fruit. Why do you want it so bad?” Soobin yelled. “Because what if people think I’m a healthy person! I can attract more people that way!” Beomgyu whined. “Gosh, you’re such a slut” Soobin murmured. “What did you just call me?” Beomgyu said, getting up from his seat.

“You heard me. Don’t make me repeat myself” Soobin said, smirking while crossing his arms. “Woah, Gyu, sit down” Yeonjun said, grabbing Beomgyu’s arm and pulling him down.

“You’re so dead after school, Soobin,” Beomgyu said. “Sure, I’d like to see you try,” Soobin said, laughing.

Beomgyu furrowed his eyebrows, grabbed his open milk carton, and threw it at Soobin.

Soobin’s shirt was covered in milk. “Beomgyu, what the fuck is your problem! This was a limited edition shirt!” he said, grabbing napkins to try and save his shirt.

“My hand slipped” Beomgyu said sarcastically. Soobin grabbed an apple from Kai’s tray and threw it at Beomgyu.

“Oh god, not again” Taehyun whined. He grabbed his, Yeonjun’s, and Kai’s bags and placed them on the table behind theirs. “Let’s go before they take all our food” he said as the two others nodded.

Soobin and Beomgyu were throwing food at each other. “I hate you, Soobin!” Beomgyu said, grabbing Soobin’s hair. “Wow, Beomgyu, that really hurt,” Soobin said sarcastically, also grabbing Beomgyu’s hair.

“Ahem…” They both looked up to see their principal. They smiled at him and quickly sat down, fixing their hair and shirts.

"You both have caused four food fights this whole week," he said. "You're both going to lunch detention all week next week. No excuses. You two need to learn how to be good and respectful classmates!" He said, crossing his arms.

"But—"

"No! I've had it with both of you! You're both ruining the school's reputation with all this fighting!" He said before he left, leaving the two boys stunned. "Didn't think he would say that..." Beomgyu said quietly.

"It's ruined because of you, you know that, right?" Soobin said. "Oh sure, Soobin... it's all my fault! You're the one who always starts it!" Beomgyu said, picking off whatever food he had stuck in his shoulder-length hair.

The bell rang, and the two boys cleaned up their mess. Their three other friends went up to them. "So, what is it this time? Service hours?" Kai asked.

"Lunch detention for the whole week," Soobin groaned. "Why do you two always fight? Why can't we love each other like we used to?" Kai pouted. "Ew, I would never love someone like Soobin," Beomgyu said, crossing his arms.

"As if I would date someone like Beomgyu," Soobin said, grabbing his bag. Like Beomgyu’s, his bag was also covered in different pins and keychains. Beomgyu swore Soobin saw his and immediately bought the same pins.

"Come on, let’s get to math before you guys get extra detention," Yeonjun said, laughing.

The next Monday, during lunch, Soobin and Beomgyu had to eat lunch in the library. They sat opposite each other at the same table, their eyes glaring at each other.

"Stop breathing so loud," Beomgyu said, kicking Soobin under the table.

"Stop kicking me!" Soobin yelled, kicking the younger.

"Ow, Soobin! I’m wearing shorts, what the hell!" Beomgyu said, lifting his legs up to hug them.

"No one told you to wear those shorts, Beomgyu," Soobin groaned.

"I’m wearing them for myself and all my admirers."

Soobin scoffed, "As if you have admirers! Who would even want to see that?"

Soobin laughed. "What’s wrong with me?" Beomgyu said, sticking his tongue out at the older.

“Well for one your shorts are barely covering anything, and second you dress like a girl.. aren’t you a boy?” Soobin said, Beomgyu got up “What’s wrong with being a little feminine Soobin? Homophobe much?”

Beomgyu grabs his bag and sits down at a further table away from Soobin “Oh come on Beomgyu you know i’m not homophobic” Soobin groaned slouching in his chair

Soobin could see Beomgyu rolling his eyes. Beomgyu has always been a little feminine, not just by his outfits, but by his hair and the way he does his makeup. The only thing that made people realize he was a male was his voice

“Besides how could I be homophobic if i’m literally talking to Minjun?” Soobin added playing with the food in front of him “Weren’t you just hooking up with Yejoon?” Beomgyu asked

“So?” Beomgyu chuckled “Slut” He murmured “Your such a bitch Beomgyu” Soobin said slamming his hands on the table

“It’s not like i’m wrong” Beomgyu shrugged “Your literally just mad that you haven’t gotten laid in like.. ever!” Soobin laughed “I’d rather die a virgin than be known as the school whore”

Soobin flips off Beomgyu. "Oh, real mature, Soobin," Beomgyu said, crossing his arms. Soobin continued playing with his food while Beomgyu was too busy trying to find out what in his plate was edible.

Beomgyu sighed, "Why do you hate me?" he asked. Soobin looked up from his tray and at Beomgyu, who was looking away. "What?" Soobin asked.

"Are you really gonna make me repeat myself?" Beomgyu asked, still not looking at Soobin. Soobin got up and sat at Beomgyu’s table.

"I don’t hate you, but I also don’t like you," Soobin said. Beomgyu sighed and chuckled, "Okay, then why don’t you like me?"

"Why don’t you like me?" Soobin retorted, raising his eyebrow. "I asked first, dumbass," Beomgyu said, pouting.

They sit in silence for a bit before Soobin speaks up. “You’re just… too much. You're loud, you're obnoxious, you're stuck up, you think you’re better than everyone else, you call me a slut on a daily basis, you scare off all my hookups, and… for some random reason that I have no idea why… everyone likes you,” Soobin said quietly.

“They always go to you; if they have a problem, they find you; if they have drama, they go to you; if they want to know something about someone, they go to you; if they need someone to talk to and someone who’s a good friend, they go to you,” Soobin said, his face turning pink.

“You don’t like me because other people like me?” Beomgyu asked, leaning closer to Soobin. Soobin just looked away. “Gosh, shut up, Beomgyu!” The bell rang, and Soobin quickly grabbed his bag and left for his class.

Beomgyu was left alone to pick up his and Soobin’s mess. Beomgyu bit his lip and grabbed his messenger bag.
