Work Text:
Chance was curled up on their bed. Staring blankly at the wall, while they were holding their knees close. It was already past midnight, but they couldn’t sleep.
Suddenly, the door to the room opened. Chance didn’t have to look up to know who it was.
Itrapped stood in the doorframe, staring at Chance. His expression was full of worry. He finally moved to the bed, sitting on the edge at first.
“Hey. You alright?” Itrapped asked
Chance didn’t reply. Itrapped sighed quietly as he climbed onto the bed and laid next to them, wrapping his arms around them protectively. That’s when Chance’s facade broke.
“It all sucks” they murmured “I didn’t mean to do that. I felt bad when I did that. Why do they all look at me like that?” They continued “I-I don’t mean any harm.”
Itrapped played with a strand of their hair, while Chance was pouring out whatever negative thought was on their mind. Only once they finished he spoke up.
“You’re having a bad time, love. It’s expected you’d feel like everything is too overwhelming. Or too much.” He said softly “Maybe you just need a break?”
Chance went quiet for a moment, wiping tears off their face. They didn’t notice when they started to cry.
“I wish I could have a break. But you know it’s impossible” they said in response
“You can try at least. Focus on one thing and go for it.”
“But there’s so much of it…”
“You can do this. I’m sure” he whispered with a smile “Just bit by bit. Not all at once. Okay?” He added, guiding them to face him
Chance slowly flipped to their other side, now seeing ITrappeds face. His gaze concerned and caring, a gentle reassuring smile on his lips…it brought them some comfort.
“Don’t overwork yourself, okay?” He asked one more time
Chance nodded and smiled
“You’re an angel.” The muttered and sniffed once
“I’m far from an angel” Itrapped chuckled
“You are for me. I love you.” they replied
Itrapped’s hand went up to their face, cupping it.
“I love you too” he murmured, leaning closer to give them a kiss on their cheek.
They spent the next few minutes talking about nonsense before they both got stroked by exhaustion and went to sleep, Chance snuggling close to Itrapped, while he held them gently but protectively.
The night was peaceful.
