Chapter Text
Thunder clashed as the rain poured her anger outside the castle walls. Inside those walls, a woman scream in total horror as her midwife encouraged her to push. Sweat bled down her weary face as she kept pushing.
Her ladies in waiting all watched the uncharacteristic signs of pain and suffering on her face. But it'll all be worth it when she delivers her prince.
Her knuckles whitened as she gripped the velvet sheets in agony. Each scream is followed by a push and each breath is followed by tears, as she felt her body being violently torn.
"That's it, my lady. You're doing well," her midwife soothed. She felt lied to at that moment. The alien that lived inside her, the one that held her hostage and gambled her away, was stubborn. It hardly put in the effort to move after what felt like hours.
"It's alright my Lady. One final push now." She encouraged. And with one final agonizing push, she heard the cries of a baby.
She let go of a breath she didn't know she held as she slumped down into her silk sheets. The child's cries now echoed the dark walls of the chambers as the midwife held it close. The room was oddly silent. The thunder passed its arguments, the ladies in waiting didn't speak, and the midwife froze. Only the cries of the child continued as dread filled the midwife's face.
"Wh-what is it?" The woman asked in a weary tone. All she could pray in her mind was please let it not be a girl, please I've gambled away too much, let it not be a girl. Though, she was confident enough that it shouldn't be so. After all, a deal was a deal.
The midwife's lips trembled as she looked at the woman. "It...It's n-nothing."
"It has to be something or else you wouldn't be standing like a fool." The woman snapped.
"No, my lady. It is nothing. It has nothing. It's not a prince nor a princess. It. Has. nothing."
