Under Winter Light

Summary:

Midterms are approaching at U.A., and the pressure is on for Class 1-A. Between late-night studying and growing exhaustion, Yaoyorozu pushes herself to keep everything under control until Todoroki begins to notice. What starts as simple concern slowly turns into something softer, something neither of them quite understands yet.

Notes:

Hello everyone! You may have read this before this edit for which I am sorry if you enjoyed the fic but I have decided to turn this into a smaller one-shot. I originally planned on making this a multiple chapter work but I didn't plan it very well T-T. I will have an upcoming long chapter fic coming sometime this week or next so stay tuned and check my account for updates! This is sort-of incomplete since its such a shot notic one shot but still I do hope you enjoy this since it is my first fic.

Work Text:

Midterm season was coming up at U.A high and as always, the students were dreading it. The cold winter air didn't make it better for many students. Except Shouto Todoroki. He had been blessed with a fire quirk, granting him the ability to regulate his body temperature. Many students were envious. Todoroki walked into class on the cool December morning, taking his seat beside Momo Yaoyorozu. The sun happened to shine in through the window, casting a golden glow on her face. It illuminated her delicate features, her seemingly black eyes looked like chocolate in the light and her fair skin caught the sunlight, making it appear brighter. As Todoroki took in her appearance, he noticed the puzzled expression on her face. He spoke, "Yaoyorozu, you alright?"

She then looked up at him, her features softening slightly, letting out a small smile. "Yeah.. I'm just trying to figure out how I can fit all these studying sessions into my schedule." She sighs. "Midterms will be next month and I have study sessions planned with nine different people.. nine!"

Todoroki smirks, a sudden idea popping into his head but he saves it for later. "Why not have a group session with them? You've done them before haven't you?" He inquires.

"Well.. I wasn't sure if the others would want that and.." Yaoyorozu's voice gets quieter, "I'm too afraid to ask them."

Todoroki snickers quietly, "Well if you can't I could do it for you but.. you'll owe me one." He winks. Yaoyorozu raises and eyebrow and he just smiles. "Who are the nine people anyway?" Todoroki asks.

She begins listing them off the top of her head, "Kaminari, Ashido, Sero, Hagakure, Kirishima, Aoyama, Uraraka, and Ojiro."

Counting on his fingers, he pauses when she says the final name, "That's only eight, who's the other one?" Then he notices the way disgust flickered off her features and he quirks his eyebrow.

"Mineta." She adds.

He nodded as he understood. "Got it. So eight people." He specifies as he pulls out his phone and begins typing.

"What are you doing?" Yaoyorozu quizzed.

After typing for a moment longer, he replies straightforwardly, "I texted them to ask if a group study session would be fine with them." He then noticed her worried demeanor, "Is something wrong?" He asks.

Shaking her head, she responds, "No just…" she looks away nervously. "What if they say no?" Just then, Todoroki was suddenly flooded with notifications and he grins, showing her the messages from the group text. It's filled with messages like 'YES I WOULD LOVE TO!' and 'OF COURSE'. Her shoulders drop slightly as she releases a relieved sigh.

"So about the favor you owe me.." Todoroki starts, "Would you mind tutoring me too?" He asks with puppy-dog eyes. Yaoyorozu's eyebrows raise before she chuckles with a nod.

'Could the study session come any faster?' Todoroki found himself frequently wondering how much longer he'd have to wait. He glanced toward the clock again. Art was the one class that he didn't have with Yaoyorozu, it often made him realize how much he misses her presence. A moment later, the bell rings and he dashes out of the class. Jogging to the school's exit, he sees Yaoyorozu walking outside. Once he reaches the door and exits the building, he calls out to her, "Yaoyorozu!" She jerkily turns to face him. He stops in front of her, slightly panting. "Can I walk with you to the library?" He asks. She replies with a nod, along with her usual radiant smile. That was one of the things Todoroki admired most about her. The way her whole face would light up, even with one small smirk; along with how beautiful it was.

When they arrived at the library, they saw their peers waiting for them outside. "Yaomomo!!" a cheery voice shouts, appearing to be Ashido.

"Mina!" Yaoyorozu smiles as she runs to greet her. Suddenly she's pulled into an embrace for which she returns until she hears a whisper in her ear,

"Next time we're alone, we are talking about you and Todoroki." Mina murmurs. Yaoyorozu pulls away slightly and Mina just replies with a wink. She sighs, aware of her antics as she finally fully releases herself from the hug. She looks over to see Todoroki and the other boys conversing. Just then, two jolly girls appear from behind them, it's Hagakure and Uraraka.

"Hey girls!" Hagakure shouts, her sleeve waving at them. Uraraka giggles at her invisible efforts. The group chatter grows louder as everyone gathers by the library entrance, voices overlapping in excited blather.

“Midterms are gonna kill me,” Kaminari groans, slumping against Sero’s shoulder.

“You say that every time,” Sero replies flatly, though he’s smiling.

Ashido is practically vibrating with energy. “I'm so excited I love Yaomomo's study sessions!" she squeaks before starting again, "And I actually studied before hand this time! A little..For five minutes.." Ashido looks up with an awkward smile

“That does not reassure me,” Ojiro says politely, adjusting his bag.

Yaoyorozu steps forward, clapping her hands once to get everyone’s attention. “Thank you all for coming. I really appreciate it.”

“It’s no problem, Yaomomo!” Uraraka beams.

“Yeah! Group studying is way more fun anyway!” Hagakure adds, her uniform visibly floating as she bounces in place.

From the back, Aoyama dramatically appears, hand to his chest. “I have come to shine academically as well.”

There’s a brief pause.

“…Sure,” Sero says.

Todoroki stands slightly to the side, watching the group settle in. His eyes briefly flick toward Yaoyorozu, who already looks like she’s mentally organizing everyone into a schedule.

Then..

“HEY.”

Everyone turns.

Mineta jogs up late, slightly out of breath. “Wait, wait, I’m here! Don’t start without me!”

Ashido leans toward Uraraka. “Oh no.”

Ojiro quietly steps half a foot away. Even Kaminari looks like he regrets everything. Todoroki’s expression didn’t change, but the air around him noticeably drops a degree.

Yaoyorozu’s smile tightened just slightly. “Mineta… we were just about to go inside.”

“Perfect! I can sit right next to-”

“No,” several voices say at once.

Mineta blinks. “Huh?”

Yaoyorozu clears her throat, stepping forward with steady composure. “We will be assigning seats and study groups to ensure everyone stays focused.”

“That sounds boring,” Mineta mutters.

“It sounds necessary,” Todoroki says flatly.

Mineta glances up at him and immediately straightens. “Haha! Of course! Focus is great! Love focus!”

They finally head inside the library. The moment the doors close behind them, the noise level drops but only slightly.

Inside, Yaoyorozu quickly takes control, guiding everyone toward a large table section.

“Okay,” she begins, pulling out a notebook. “We’ll divide subjects. Kaminari, Sero, and Ashido, you’re working on math and basic theory.”

“Why do I always get math trauma,” Kaminari whines.

“Because you always cause math trauma,” Sero replies.

Ashido giggles. “This is gonna be fun!”

Yaoyorozu continues smoothly. “Uraraka, Hagakure, and Ojiro, you’ll focus on written responses and memorization.”

“Got it!” Uraraka says.

“I will memorize EVERYTHING,” Hagakure declares.

Aoyama poses. “And I?”

Yaoyorozu hesitates only slightly. “You… will be with.. yourself, reviewing literature summaries.”

Aoyama gasps like it’s an honor bestowed by royalty.

Then there’s Todoroki, he’s already looking at Yaoyorozu. Before she can assign him-

"I assume I’ll be with Yaoyorozu,” he says calmly.

She nearly drops her notebook.

Ashido’s head snaps up instantly. “OOOOH!”

“I mean..” Yaoyorozu starts quickly, “Yes, that would make sense, since we’ve already..um.. discussed studying together before-”

“That’s what they all say,” Kaminari whispers loudly.

“Quiet,” Sero says, elbowing him.

Mineta, from the far end of the table, squints. “Why do they get to study together?”

The temperature in the room drops again. Todoroki slowly turns his head.

Mineta immediately looks away. “Just asking! For academic reasons!”

Yaoyorozu coughs into her hand. “Let’s… begin.”

Within twenty minutes, the library has devolved into controlled chaos.

Kaminari has somehow started a “lightning memory trick” that is mostly just him yelling formulas, Sero is trying to tape him to the chair.

Ashido is drawing diagrams in neon pink ink that are “definitely helpful.”

Hagakure is whispering answers she found in a textbook while no one can see where she’s pointing.

Ojiro is the only one quietly, actually studying.

Meanwhile, At the corner table, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu were supposed to be studying literature. But Yaoyorozu is currently glaring at her notes, clearly frustrated.

“I don’t understand how they’re all so loud,” she murmurs.

Todoroki flips a page in his book. “They’re always like this.”

“That’s not very reassuring.”

Then Todoroki slides a small stack of neatly organized notes toward her.

Yaoyorozu blinks. “You already… summarized this?”

“Yes.”

“…When?”

“While they were arguing about seating.”

She stares at him for a second longer than necessary.

Then she exhales a small laugh. “You’re very efficient.”

“I had nothing else to do,” he replies, then adds after a moment, “You looked stressed.” That lands quietly between them.

Yaoyorozu looks down at the notes again, her expression softening. “Thank you.”

From across the library..

“THE ANSWER IS B, RIGHT?!” Kaminari shouts.

“IT’S NOT EVEN MULTIPLE CHOICE!” Sero yells back.

Yaoyorozu closes her eyes for one second.

“…They're giving me a migraine." She groans, massaging her temples.

Todoroki's expression turns sympathetic, "Are you alright?" He leans in slightly closer, looking at her with worry.

"Yeah…" She says with a sigh. Yaoyorozu reaches for her water bottle in her bag and then realizes she drank it all already. "Damn it!" She groans, dropping her head onto the table.

"Here." Todoroki says, offering her his water bottle. "Don't worry I didn't drink it yet."

She lifts her head up and a small warmth spreads across her face as she takes it, "Thank you, Todoroki." He just responds with a nod.

The next morning, Todoroki walks into class as usual and takes his seat beside Yaoyorozu. "Good morning Todoroki."

She greets him as he replies, "Morning."

Their usually animated classmates walk in chirpy as ever. "I think I'm ready for class today!" Mina declares.

"Yeah! Yaoyorozu's study session helped me a lot!" Yaoyorozu's eyes light up as she breathes in a small gasp. Todoroki notices and smiles to himself.

"Did I really help you guys?" Yaoyorozu questions. Her peers nod excitedly. She looks away to hide her wide smile. Turning back to them she says, "I'm glad."

After the students return to their seats, Todoroki points out, "You were a good teacher, Yaoyorozu."

Yaoyorozu freezes momentarily then looks up at Todoroki, "You think so?" She hides her smile that's slowly forcing its way upon her face. Todoroki nods. Then he catches parts of their classmates' conversation.

"Can we talk about how cute Todomomo was yesterday?!" Ashido chirps quietly as they whisper about. 'Todomomo?' He thinks to himself. 'What the hell could that mean?' Todoroki listens longer into their conversation.

"I know right!?" Hagakure squeals, "They were so cute while studying and when I spied on them.." her voice gets lower, "I saw him lend her his water bottle!" The others erupt into quiet cheeps.

"Seriously?!" Kaminari asks. He lets out some weird noise before falling off his chair, causing laughter from the class. "Haha, very funny." He says in a sarcastic but fake-angry voice.

Jirou, who had been listening to the conversation quietly, occasionally pitching in, decided to talk to Yaoyorozu, who is very engaged in her book. She doesn't even notice when Jirou approaches until her book is pulled away from her. "Hey!" She nearly accuses before realizing it's her best friend and her smile returns. "Oh hey Kyoka!" Yaoyorozu addresses.

"Hey Yaomomo." Jirou says with a grin before cupping her hand to whisper in her ear, "Have you heard them?"

"Heard who?" Yaoyorozu raises an eyebrow.

"Your..shippers." She giggles but Yaoyorozu just lets out a confused: 'huh'. Jirou begins to explain, "Everyone's saying you and Todoroki are super cute together."

Yaoyorozu suddenly chokes on air and her face turns a bright shade of rose. "Excuse me?"

She grins again, "You heard me."

"That's.. that's ridiculous. I don't know what you're talking about." She glances away.

"If you say so." Jirou says before returning to the group.

Todoroki notices her flushed expression and turns worried."Yaoyorozu? Are you okay? Are you feeling feverish." He stands up and approaches her.

She just turns her face away and nods, "Mhm, perfectly fine."

He raises an eyebrow but decides to drop it, "Okay then." Then he comes to a realization that he forgot to ask her, "Oh yeah, would you mind tutoring me again?"

A soft hum escaped her lips. "You need me to tutor you?" She asks, "Todoroki, you were doing better than me in our last studying session."

He glances to the side, trying to make up an excuse, "Well there's still some things I don't quite understand and I would be grateful for your help. If you don't want to it's fine-"

Yaoyorozu cuts him off, "Of course! I would love to! I just wasn't sure if you were serious or not.." She chuckles quietly.

Todoroki smiles, "Thank you." He says thankfully.

A pause.

"May I have your number?" He requests politely.

Yaoyorozu freezes and nearly chokes again. "Excuse me?"

"For the tutoring info." He adds.

She lets out a sigh of relief before saying, "Of course." She pulls out a piece of paper and a pencil and begins writing in that usual perfect hand writing. Folding it up neatly, she writes "XO, Momo" and hands the paper to him.

He raises an eyebrow, "XO, Momo?" he reads aloud.

She nods with a smile, "I write that on all letters to my friends. Even if it's small." It had no romantic intent in truth but when she realizes how Todoroki may have taken it her cheeks turn a light pink.

"Oh. Thanks." He says before stuffing the note in his pocket. "I'll text you after school to make sure you get my number as well."

Yaoyorozu smiles, "Okay!"

Yaoyorozu plops down on her large bed, entangling herself in soft woven blankets. Just then, her phone dings with a text in which she reads aloud quietly, "Hello. This is Todoroki." After giggling softly she types a reply, "Hii Todoroki!"

Meanwhile, Todoroki is sitting at his desk tapping his foot anxiously as he waits for a reply. Once his phone dings with a text he smiles and reads it. He types out another response, "Can I call you?" He's answered with a call and he quickly accepts it. "Hi Yaoyorozu." he says calmly.

"Hi Todoroki!" She says merrily, "What did you need?

"Could you tutor me today?" He asks hopefully.

You could hear the smile in her voice as she responds, "Of course, where would you like to meet?"

"Hmm.." He thinks for a moment, "You pick."

"Ooh, this is hard.. there is this new cafe that opened up near my house and I've been dying to try it!"

"Sounds good." He says, "Goodbye Yaoyorozu."

"Goodbye Todoroki." She says before hanging up.

After freshening up a bit and putting all of her books together, she heads out the door and begins her walk to the cafe. As she arrives, she sees a familiar red and white haired boy from afar. "Todoroki? How are you here before me?!"

His expression remains stoic as he says flatly, "I came right after you hung up."

She's a bit surprised by his answer but she remains composed. "Well shall we head in?" He nods and opens the door, holding it for her. She smiles and bows slightly to thank him. He grins slightly before following her inside.

At the counter, Yaoyorozu looks at the large menu on the wall, considering the decisions. She looks over and sees Todoroki already heading to order, "Hey, have you already decided?" She calls to him. He turns and looks at her, simply nodding before continuing. She jogs lightly after him, "Rude.." she whispers, looking back at the menu.

"I'll have a black coffee please." He says before glancing at Yaoyorozu, "And you?"

She thinks again before deciding, "A warm matcha latte and a croissant."

The barista nods, "Will you be paying sir?" She asks him, Todoroki nods.

Yaoyorozu looks startled, "What? Why are you paying for me?"

"Because I'm paying you back."

"For what?"

"Agreeing to tutor me."

"Oh.. well you didn't have to..

The barista butts in, "Wait you guys aren't a couple?" she asks with a confused expression.

Yaoyorozu's face turns red as she sprawls her hands out in front of her, "No! It's not like that!" Todoroki just smiles and watches her flustered state, making eye contact with the cashier who just smirks.

"Okay then. I'll be back with your items, you can have a seat." The barista instructed. They both nod and have a seat at a small booth by a window overlooking the small pond nearby.

After a few minutes of comforting silence, the barista arrives with their items and places them down gently on the table, "Here you go, have a good day." She smiles and winks before heading off. Todoroki just smirks and sees Yaoyorozu looking away awkwardly.

Just then, they see a familiar looking pair of a happy electric boy and a calm purple haired girl.

"Is that.." Todoroki starts.

"It's Kyouka!" Yaoyorozu exclaims quietly, "And Kaminari.." She says with less enthusiasm.

"What are they doing here together?" Todoroki asks curiously.

"I'm not sure.." Yaoyorozu responds. She then looks at Todoroki, "Disguise yourself!" she whispers while she takes her hair down from her traditionally spiky ponytail and puts on a pair of expensive-looking sunglasses.

Todoroki looks confused but complies, also putting on a pair of casual sunglasses and a bucket hat (One he carries around to avoid recognition from the public). They both stare intently at the mysterious duo. Todoroki knew that they were friends but he would've never expected them to finally go on a date.

They take a seat at a table right across from them. Jirou looks over at the strange people staring at them. "Is something wrong Kyouka?" Kaminari asks her.

"Those people are.. staring." She says gesturing to them. "Do you need something?" She asks them kindly. They quickly turn away and pretend nothing happened. Yaoyorozu takes a sip of her latte with shaky hands as Todoroki stares at her, his glasses discretely conceal where his mismatched eyes linger. "Weirdos.." Jirou says quietly.

"OH MY GOD!" Kaminari shouts before apologizing to the cafe-goers. "Look!" he says quietly, pointing to the half and half hair poking out from Todoroki's cap.

"Holy shit.." Jirou says, standing up and heading over to them. She pulls the hat off Todoroki's head and is met with red and white hair.

"Damnit.." Todoroki breathes out, admitting defeat. "Caught me." He smirks, holding out his hands in mock surrender. Jirou glances at the woman and gets closer to her face before gently pulling off her sunglasses. "Oh my gosh.. Yaomomo, what are you doing here? With.. him?"

Yaoyorozu sighs, "We were about to begin studying until you two walked in so.. we decided to spy on you.. It was all my idea! Don't blame Todoroki."

"Jirou." Todoroki calls, "Could I ask you the same thing? Why are you here with Kaminari?"

Her face turns beet red "I..err.. uh."

Todoroki smirks.

"Uh..we're hanging out..as friends." Kaminari murmurs.

"Uh huh.. as friends. So you two are such good friends you're on first name basis?" Todoroki interrogates.

Kaminari freezes. "Uh.." He looks around and sees that their coffees have been delivered to their table. "We uhm.. We gotta go!"

"See ya Yaomomo." Jirou says before grabbing her drink with Kaminari and heading out of the cafe doors.

Yaoyorozu lets out a sigh of relief now that the interaction is over. "You really didn't let them get out of that easily." She snickers quietly.

Todoroki smiles and nods. He sighs before saying, "So shall we finally get to studying?" He asks. She smiles as she reaches into her backpack for the books.

A few hours later, the sun is setting, casting a pink-orange glow in the cafe. Yaoyorozu yawns, stretching her arms out. "Tired?" Todoroki asks.

Yaoyorozu nods, "I'll manage."

"If you're too tired we can stop."

"No it's fine."

"Yaoyorozu." He said more firmly. "You look tired, you haven't even eaten dinner yet ,and the suns setting. You're probably starving." As if on cue, her stomach grumbles.

She looks away, visibly flustered.

"Lets get some food." He offers, "Real food. Not just snacks."

Her eyes light up, "Really?"

He nods, "Let's go."

They head out of the cafe and begin walking side by side, their hands occasionally brushing with each step. "I heard there's this good hibachi spot just down the road. Want to go?" He asks.

"For real?" She says brightly. "I've always wanted to try hibachi!" Todoroki smiles at her excitement as they continue walking.

Soon after they arrive, they get seated quickly with good service. They were seated around a wide metal grill, the surface already warm beneath them. Ingredients were laid out neatly in front of the chef: rice, vegetables, and thinly sliced meat. Each arranged with precise order.

The chef greeted them with a confident smile before immediately getting to work. A rapid rhythm of knives against the cutting board filled the air, sharp and controlled. Vegetables were chopped in seconds, sliding onto the heated surface with a loud sizzle.

Yaoyorozu blinked as a small burst of flame suddenly rose from the grill. “Oh!”

The chef calmly continued as if nothing had happened, flipping shrimp through the air and catching them perfectly.

Todoroki watched in silence, his eyes occasionally drifting to Yaoyorozu.

Yaoyorozu let out a small laugh before she could stop herself. “This is so exciting!”

The grill hissed steadily as the smell of cooked food filled the air, warm and comforting against the fading evening outside.

They watch a the chef creates an 'Onion Volcano'. Rings of onion stacked on top of each other, fire emerging from the top. Yaoyorozu gasps, "Woah!" Todoroki smiles at her amusement.

The onion rings burned steadily at the top of the “volcano,” a controlled flame flickering upward before dying down with a soft hiss. A few quiet cheers rose from the table as the chef moved on without pause, cracking an egg against the grill with practiced precision.

Yaoyorozu leaned forward slightly, clearly invested. “How do they manage to time everything so perfectly?” she murmured more to herself than anyone else.

“Practice,” Todoroki answered simply.

She glanced at him. “Of course you’d say that.”

He tilted his head slightly. “It’s usually the correct answer.”

That earned her a quiet laugh again, softer this time, like she wasn’t fully aware she was doing it.

The chef began separating portions of rice on the grill, the spatula moving so quickly it almost blurred. Steam rose in short bursts, carrying the smell of soy sauce and butter through the air. When he flicked a piece of shrimp into the air, it landed perfectly on a plate with a dramatic flourish.

Yaoyorozu clapped lightly before realizing she had done it. Her hands paused mid-air, and she lowered them quickly, clearing her throat.

“…That was impressive,” she said, slightly more composed.

Todoroki watched her for a moment. “You seem to like this.”

“I do,” she admitted, then corrected herself quickly, “I mean…it’s very interesting. The coordination required is remarkable.”

He hummed faintly, as if accepting both answers.

A few minutes later, the chef began dividing the food onto plates, sliding portions neatly toward each person. The grill cooled slightly, the sizzling fading into a soft warmth.

Yaoyorozu looked down at her plate, then back up. “This was a good idea,” she said quietly.

Todoroki nodded once. “You looked like you needed it.”

That made her pause for a fraction of a second.

“…I suppose I did,” she allowed.

She picked up her chopsticks, then added more softly, “Thank you for suggesting it.”

Todoroki looked at her briefly before returning his gaze to his food. “You’re welcome.”

For a moment, the conversation didn’t continue. It wasn’t awkward, just calm, filled with the last warmth of the grill and the fading glow of evening outside.

After finishing their food they begin to head out. Yaoyorozu catches the sight of soft white flakes falling from the sky through the glass door. "Snow!" She exclaims before speeding up her pace and walking out the door, not aware it just shut right in Todoroki's face. He emerges with a big red mark on his face.

Yaoyorozu turns and gasps, coming to the realization of what she did, "Oh my god! Did I do that? I'm so so sorry!" She apologizes empathetically. She jogs up to him and stares at his slightly injured face, unaware of their closeness. Her breath comes out as a faint cloud as she gently touches his face and he winces. "Are you alright?" She asks, worried.

"I'm fine Yaoyorozu." He snickers quietly.

"Are you sure?" She questions. He gives a reassuring nod. She sighs, "I'm sorry Todoroki, I should've been more aware of my surroundings-" She rambles off, turning away her glance.

He cuts her off, then gently takes her by the arms and turns her toward him. "I told you I'm fine."

"But.." She sighs, deciding not to push. They remain there for a split second, his hands on her arms, holding her in place, and the snow gently falling on the two of them.

He lets go of her but continues facing her, "Would you like me to walk you home?"

She thinks for a moment before smirking, "Can we do one thing first?" He raises an eyebrow but she grabs him by the wrist and drags him to follow.

“Just wait…” She crouched down, and from her back, she began materializing a sled from the lipids in her body, the structure taking shape piece by piece. Todoroki instinctively glanced away, giving her privacy though a faint warm rose to his cheeks.

"Done!" She says brightly, holding up a sled big enough to fit two people. "Can you sled with me?" She asks with puppy-dog eyes.

With a grin, he nods, "Sure."

She jumps up and down with glee as she sets down the sled and angles it. "Front or back?" She asks.

"Back." He says, waiting for her to climb in first. He settles in behind her, and the position was a little awkward, her back pressed lightly against his chest. He quickly looked away, trying to focus on anything else.

Then, quieter, he asked near her ear, “Is it bad that I’m afraid of heights?”

She felt a shiver run through her at his voice, but she let out a small giggle. “It’ll be fine. Just hold onto me.”

He hesitated for only a moment before wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his forehead lightly against her shoulder.

"Ready?"

"Mhm"

She grins and pushes off.

The sled shot down the hill quickly with ease, picking up speed as they slid over the snow. Todoroki tightened his grip slightly, while Yaoyorozu's laughter rang out ahead of him. "This is so fun!" She shouts.

As the sled finally comes to a halt, Todoroki pants heavily, "Is it over?"

"Yes, silly. Wasn't that fun?!"

He was going to say no but he looks back on the moment once more, "I guess.." he turns away.

"Told you!" She beams and a snowflake lands on her nose. Her eyes focus on it, causing her to appear cross-eyed. Todoroki giggles softly and flicks the snowflake off. "Thank you." She says, still smiling.

They finally begin walking in the direction towards Yaoyorozu's house. "Today was fun." Todoroki says, "Thank you."

Yaoyorozu smiles, "Of course! I enjoyed myself as well."

They walk for a moment, the silence growing louder. Todoroki decides to open his mouth to speak, "Do you always wear a ponytail?" He asks, noticing how different her hair looks down.

"Yeah. I usually only wear it down at home, I like to keep my hair out of my face."

"Your hair is really pretty." Todoroki compliments bluntly."

Yaoyorozu freezes in her tracks. She stutters over her words, "Oh t-thank you." She says, her cheeks reddening. She blames it on the cold although her flustered feeling is obvious.

He just nods casually as she falls back into step with him. The silence is back, the only sound is their footsteps, crushing the soft snow beneath them.

After a while they arrive at Yaoyorozu's large estate. She clears her throat, "This is my home, I'll.. see you later. Get home safely. Goodbye Todoroki." She waves as she turns to walk inside.

"Goodbye.." He watches her go as she closes the door behind her, "…Momo" He hesitates slightly before turning to head home.
