Chapter 1: ONE

Chapter Text

It's 3:14 am on the clock, and Bible finally falls on the bed, ready to sleep.

He's exhausted, beyond that but he cannot stop. A life depends on him, a tiny life who only knows her Mama and Bible has to make sure he's giving everything to her.

Winnie was an accident, Bible didn't even know until it was too late but she is the best thing that happened to him in this lonely world. One night stand and drinking till he blacked out, ended up with him in a strangers bed, someone he didn't even remember the face of.

He came to know about his pregnancy at the end of his first trimester. Living alone came with it's perks like not having proper food for days, or waking up feeling tired from two jobs. Bible didn't think those were his pregnancy signs. But when things got out of hand, he went to a clinic to find out he was carrying a child. 12 weeks old, Winnie had her heartbeat already and Bible knew she is all he needed.

He didn't try to contact that alpha, knowing his pup will grow up with one parent and he won't beg for help.

His pregnancy became a bit tolerable when he joined a new coffee shop as a barista and the owner's son Bas, a fellow omega was his only support.

He offered him food, made sure he had his medicines on time and was the only one present at the hospital when Bible gave birth.

Bas was his only friend and when he offered, Bible to take three months off with full paid salary, he couldn't say no.

His body tore itself apart to give birth to Winnie, he needed that recovery.

But as Winnie got older, money became tight. Her food, clothes, medicine along with Bible's tuition fees in college all piled up on him.

At four months postpartum, with postpartum belly and a kid attached to his hip, Bible went to work again.

Being a barista was the easiest part of the day. Bas would take care of Winnie while Bible felt like he was getting back his life on track.

But, the shocking part was Bas getting married and moving abroad. His childhood sweetheart proposed and they decided to settle in Europe.

With the coffee shop closed, Bible finding a new job, things got harder. Winnie was fussier, probably sensing the distressed smell of her Mama. She was inseparable with Bible, her tiny chubby hands always reaching for him and Bible couldn't dare to put her down for two minutes.

The world wasn't necessarily welcoming to him. An omega with a child on his hips would be more of a liability or that's what most jobs said.

It took him a full month to get a job of a waiter that paid him way less and didn't have any supportive friend like Bas.

So, Bible strapped Winnie to his chest and worked two shifts tirelessly. His back hurt, his head pounded, his breasts leaking with overflowing milk, Winnie crying non stop — all of it took a toll on Bible.

But he didn't stop, couldn't stop.

Because money was tight and he had to keep his daughter alive.

Bible snaps himself back to reality. It's almost four in the morning and he didn't get a wink of sleep.

Winnie turns in her crib, a tiny strangled noise — a clear indication she's hungry again.

Bible sighs as he picks her up, and holds her close to his chest. His scent calms her as she sucks on his nipple, content to fill her stomach. She falls asleep like that, mouth still attached to Bible, her tiny hand gripping him for her dear life.

Bible takes a look at her and a wave of emotion washes over him as he looks at his girl. He made her, he made her with his blood and soul. With his daily struggle to meet ends, he forgets to appreciate what he has.

He is gifted a beautiful baby girl in this lonely world, who brightens up his day and encourages him to be better. If anything, Winnie is the reason Bible is still alive.

He places a soft kiss on her forehead and closes his eyes, basking in the rare quiet moment of his life.
***

Next when Bible opens his eyes it's past eight in the morning.

He jumps looking at the clock which startles Winnie sleeping on his chest and she screams, throwing her legs in the air.

"Oh, I am so sorry baby" Bible coos her, feeling guilty to wake her up abruptly.

He puts her over his shoulder gently rocking her until her cries have died down a little.

"It's okay, time to get ready, let me clean you up" Winnie nods, as if she understands it all.

Bible bathes her, changes her clothes and feeds her with one hand holding her body.
He uses his other free hand to arrange his notes for the day, and her change of diapers, clothes and her formula feed.

Call him crazy but he is determined to complete his education, even if that means strapping an eight month old baby to his chest in class.

During his pregnancy, he already missed a semester and now he is determined to finish his last year of his college.

It's past nine when he steps in his class, Winnie on his chest somehow asleep and not crying.

Bible's classmates aren't surprised with him carrying a child everyday, but they are not fully pleased either.

He cannot blame them, having to listen to boring lectures and then a child screeching at the top of their voice randomly wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Naturally, Bible coils within himself and tries his best to coo her and avoid any unnecessary talks in class. He stays as invisible as possible, and runs out of class when dismissed.

***
After two classes, a diaper change and full belly of milk, Winnie decides to finally sleep in the afternoon.

Bible sighs combing her hair out of her face with his fingers, already exhausted for the day. He doesn't have the energy to work a shift after the class ends today.

It's applied finance, an extra class Bible took to make up for last semester.

He takes out his notes from previous classes trying to remember where they left off, when a young man walks, strides confidently in the class.

Bible doesn't pay much attention, he lightly rocks Winnie in her sleep, when a deep voice gets him to look at the professor's desk.

"Hi guys" The man smiles, his voice confident and positive.

"I'm Jespipat Thilapornputt, you can call me Jes." He announces "I'll be taking your Applied Finance as a substitute professor. Professor Gee met with an accident and I will be her replacement for the time being. I hope I will meet expectations and can teach you all as smoothly as she did."

Bible tuned out somewhere after that, he's too distracted looking at the professor's face.

Jes is clearly an alpha, his strong woody scent and commanding presence is the confirmation for that. He doesn't look that old maybe in his thirties with a stout body.

His hair is styled, fringe falling over his eyes. A fitted blue shirt and black dress pants — he's quite attractive.

Jes starts his lecture going over the key points like Mrs. Gee and Bibles tries his best to take notes while grading Winnie's head in other.

Not even ten minutes into the class, Winnie rubs her eyes, uncomfortable and strats fussing in Bible's arms.

"Shh my love, it's okay" Bible pulls out her favourite bunny from his bag, and puts it in her arms.

When that doesn't work, she twists herself and starts whimpering.

"You cannot be hungry again, did you wet your diaper?" Bible quickly checks and no, it's all okay.

Why is she uncomfortable then?

He pulls her from the carrier bag and cradles her in his arms, maybe the warmth will get her to sleep again.

She doesn't stop, cries harder throwing her tiny fists at Bible's chest.

"Winnie, don't cry my love, Mama's here" Bible rocks her, trying his best to not disturb the class.

He gets side glances though, some throw  irritated looks at him, others look at him in pity.

Bible hates this, hates all of it.

He curls in himself more, trying his best to soothe his daughter but he screams even louder. He holds her bottle of milk in case she wants it and she throws it away, twisting and turning in his arms.

Bible doesn't notice a presence by his side, when someone clears his throat beside him.

He looks up from his seat, to see his Professor Jes by his side — a questionable look in his face.

"Is that your daughter?" He asks.

"I'm sorry sir, I will take my leave. You can continue with the lecture" His ears burn red, shame filling him getting called out in class for disturbing the lecture.

"No, it's alright" Jes' voice softens a bit when his eyes land on Winnie, the child still throwing tantrum in Bible's arms.

"I can only imagine, how difficult it must be to attend lectures and handle your kid at the same time. It must take a lot of courage" He offers a small smile, his Bible feels seen for the first time.

He doesn't need validation for bringing up his daughter but fucking hell it's tough and a stranger acknowledging that feeling weirdly nice.

He ducks his head, blushing a little trying to pat her daughter while she insistently kicks his stomach.

"Is she hungry? She is so red from crying" Bible nods, giving her another toy which she throws away again.

"I don't know, she usually sleeps during this time, I don't know what's wrong" His voice wavers at the end, his patience running low.

Jes' voice is warm and sincere when he asks "If you don't mind, may I hold her? She might calm down if she changes her position"

Oh, no.

Hell no.

Winnie hates strangers.

He tried letting once or twice giving him to other omegas in their walks, when he needed a break but Winnie screamed and kicked them all until she settled in Bible's arms again.

The only person beside Bible who can touch her is Bas.
Jes' expression is earnest, like he might cry next if Bible doesn't let him hold the baby.

But how do you tell your handsome professor that your child is a little menace who hates any stranger coming close and will spit up on them if needed.

"I... I don't want to bother you Sir. You're taking a class, I can manage." He says instead.

Jes nods "I wouldn't offer, if it was a bother. You clearly need a break to take down notes and I'm good with kids, I promise"

Without any way out Bible hands her daughter over to Jes, ready to immediately take her back when she kicks Jes in his ribs or knocks his head with her own.

But the next incident that he sees, spell bounds him.

Jes takes Winnie in his arms with ease, rocking her in his arms, rubbing her back in circles.

And Winnie?

Calm.

In an instant, her lips stops quivering. Her cries subdued, she pouts at him, her big doe eyes staring up at Jes like he's a prize.

Of course, like Mama like daughter.

Jes visibly melts cradling her, his voice soft as he whispers non sense, trying to distract her.

Bible doesn't know whether he should be elated or concerned because Winnie is now fully invested in Jes, her tiny fingers playing with his fringe as Jes boops her nose.

And Winnie giggles?

Since when does he giggle with strangers?

Jes is equally elated, he turns to Bible "Your daughter is so adorable...Mr..?"

"Bible Wichapas" His voice sounds foreign to him, still trying to figure what magic this man, an alpha knows.

Bible notices a shift in Jes' scent, it's stronger, now shifting to something sweet — an indication of clear happiness.

If he weren't Bible's professor he would be shameless to take a whiff of his strong scent to calm his nerves.

"Bible, if I may tale her around the class while you take notes, will that be okay?"

There's so much honesty and innocence in Jes' words that Bible can't refuse. He simply nods as Jes walks around the class resuming his lecture with Winnie on his hips.

Bible takes a deep breath as he focuses back on his notes. It kind of feels amazing to not worry about Winnie while studying so he takes this chance to grasp whatever he can.

He keeps an eye on Jes though to see if he needs to takeover her child but Winnie seems more than happy, she plays with his necklace, grabs his face with her hands, studies his face as if she's Picasso. Jes doesn't mind though, he rocks her on his hips pats her back and continues taking the class as usual.

If anybody walks in right now, they'd think Winnie is Jes' daughter with how easily they're moving around the room.

Bible overhears some whispers about how much of a daddy material Jes is and how all the Omegas wish he'd give them a chance.

And honestly? Bible feels that.

The class comes to and end in an hour. The students leave one by one and Bible takes the most time gathering up all his notes and Winnie's stuff.

There's only Jes with Winnie in the class when Bible walks upto them and she's fallen asleep in Jes' arms, her face tucked in his neck.

Jes smiles, eyes crinkled in happiness "Your daughter is so cute. You're doing so well in your motherhood. I hope you liked your class today?"

"I did. Thank you so much Sir, for stepping in to handle her. I cannot thank you enough for this"

"It's nothing, here take her" He gently hands over Winnie to his arms, careful to not wake her up.

"I'll see both of you tomorrow then" With that Jes collects his books leaving a little less exhausted Bible and a content Winnie sleeping peacefully in the class.

The rest of the day was no different than the other. Bible clocked in at work after classes, Winnie giving her company.

He had his first meal of the day at four in the evening. This tired and exhausted he still played with Winnie during his break and successfully got her to sleep for five full hours.

It was past ten when he came back home, changed Winnie and put her in crib to play with her toys. Exhausted and spent he takes a shower, re-heats some food to eat.

He looks at Winnie, her innocent smile while playing and his heart fills with so much love.

He kisses her forehead, grateful for her, and whatever life they have built.

She pushes her favourite bunny towards Bible saying some incoherent words "Ma-maamama aaahmaa"

Bible smiles taking her precious bunny "Yes Mama loves you the most baby"

She squeals suddenly happy and lunges herself into Bible's arms, jabbing at his face with love.

It takes another hour to breastfeed Winnie and get her to sleep. After that Bible does the laundry and preps some food for tomorrow before finally hitting bed at two in the morning.

He feels tired, yes. But grateful for everything.

***

Next morning he's late again.

Winnie threw up her milk and refused to get ready and it took Bible extra an hour to get himself ready for class.

He's almost running with his bag and Winnie against his chest as he enters class fifteen minutes late.

Professor Jes looks up from his laptop, his entire face melting into fondness when he spots Winnie sucking her thumb, cradled to Bible's chest.

He walks up to them, and offers to take Winnie again this time with a silent question.

Bible hesitates, not wanting to bother the man when Winnie, the traitor stretches her tiny arms towards Jes, wanting to go to him.

Jes laughs, proud of himself "Looks like she likes me"

Bible shakes his head "A rare occurrence, she hates strangers usually."

Jes mocks a hurt face "You wound me Bible, we are best friends by the way. She told me yesterday."

Winnie fusses in Bible's arms, tiny protests where she wants to be held by Jes.

She sighs a little, content and happy and drops her head to Jes' chest when finally the man picks her up.

"I cannot believe she chooses you over me and it's just the second day" Bible says with no malice and Jes only giggles at that.

Oh, if only this man was the real father of Winn–

Okay enough.

"You haven't told me her name Bible" Jes plays with her, tickling her in the stomach that she finds so amusing, giggling happily against his chest.

"Wenika, but I call her Winnie"

"Winnie, what a beautiful name for a beautiful girl" Their eyes lock for a moment and Bible forgets where he is momentarily.

He loses himself in that honey coloured eyes, his senses tingling with the alpha's strong woody scent, the heat radiating from his body.

Jes is the first one to clear his throat "May I ask for the carrying bag"

Bible hands it wordlessly, not trusting his voice and takes his seat at the back of the class.

Jes carries Winnie with ease, the kid happy to play with her bunny and Jes' shirt until she falls asleep again.

Jes busies himself in the lecture, his deep focus in showing some statistics graph. And Bible cannot help but notice the vein sticking out his neck when the alpha explains something with passion.

He gulps, trying not to get affected by his extremely attractive professor but his eyes keep darting to the man and his neck....where his scent gland is.

Maybe if he got a whiff.

He squeezes his thighs, as a feels himself get wet down there and he absolutely cannot afford that when his child is coddled by the man he is thirsting over.

Sue him, but he haven't had sex since the last time when Winnie got conceived and in pregnancy he didn't get his heat, but with eight months since his delivery he is certain his heat will be there in a month or so.

And with a professor this hot? He will have some gruesome time thinking unholy thoughts about this man.

He physically shakes himself and focuses back on the class, taking useful notes.

He doesn't know when he fell asleep, but when he wakes himself up from his nap, he finds the class empty except Jes sitting on a chair with Winnie bouncing happily in his lap, while they play some made up game.

Bible checks his phone and it's 12.38 pm.

He slept for 2 hours?

As if on cue, Jes looks up, his eyes a mixture of sympathy and understanding.

He whispers to Winnie "Look Mama is awake"

Bible is panicking, his face red with shame as he realise how long ago the class got over and he overslept.

"I'm so sorry Sir. I shouldn't have slept, I'm really sorry...it's so stupid of me oh my god, I am really so-"

"Bible" Jes stops him in mid rant, with a firm hand on his shoulder "It's okay. I understand how overworked you are. You're growing a child, it's natural you're tired. I didn't mind and besides you can take these notes tomorrow"

"I should be more careful, I'm sorry I shouldn't have left her with you for this long. You must have other classes"

"You apologize a lot" Jes points out instead.

"Sorry" Bible says and realizes immediately.

Jes cocks an eyebrow and laughs a little.

"Come here Winnie. Time to go home" Bible calls his daughter but she outright refuses.
She buries her face in Jes' neck, clutching his shirt tightly in her fists.

"Winnie" Bible gasps, at the rejection.

"Winnie baby, did you choose me over your Mama?" Jes asks elated to which Winnie giggles and babbles non sense in Jes' neck again.

"Oh my god this is the best day of my life" The alpha rocks the girl in his arms, unabashedly happy.

"I feed her, I tolerate her tantrum, I play with her and suddenly you're her favourite? That's unfair" Bible crosses his arm, faking annoyance and Winnie somehow finds that funny, happy giggling and bouncing in Jes' arms.

"You both are the same" Jes laughs "Fussy and cute"

He catches himself the moment the says the last word and clears his throat to seem non chalant.

"May I walk you both till the gate?" He asks to mask from embarrassment.

Bible walks with the man, steps matching as they chat about their lives.

He learns, Jes wants to be a permanent professor in the university and this is his probation period. He loves golf and singing and kids apparently.

He also listened about Bible's life, his struggling days and his only family being Winnie.

He doesn’t judge, doesn’t pity only offers to listen and after ages Bible feels lighter.

Maybe because it's been a while he talked to someone, like really talked.

And maybe, just maybe someone who didn't see him as a fragile omega trying to keep his life together but see him as Bible, for what he is.

***

Life goes on, the same routine, same hardships but Bible pushes through.

He takes up more shifts on days money is tight, falls asleep exhausted and wake up an hour later to change diaper.

It's exhausting but Bible wouldn't trade a thing.

Jes makes the journey bearable somehow.
At class he would always ask for Winnie, holding her with one arms and teaching the class with the other.

It's natural, almost as if he's used to, as if he always belonged.

Bible indulges in this as well, getting even an hour off to focus on his studies while someone so kind takes care of his daughter, it is a blessing.

One such day, after class Bible is packing his notes while Jes tries to calm Winnie down. No matter what, she doesn't stop screaming today and Jes looks helplessly at Bible, trying to figure out how to calm her.

Bible knows she's hungry, lately she's been growing faster and her hunger is insatiable.

He quickly looks for the bottle feed in his bag but finds none. He searches everywhere, under the desk, at the floor in case he dropped it.

He forgot to put it in his bag today.

Winnie twists in Jes' arms, hungry and irritable. When Jes tries to give her to Bible, she grabs Jes even more, kicking her feet.

"I...forgot her bottle" Bible sighs, sitting down head banging on her desk.

"Now?" Jes asks, looking around as if the walls might give them an answer.

"I will have to feed...from me" He doesn't look up, kinda ashamed to say this to his professor.

"Umm...you can use my staffroom" Jes offers, ever so sweetly.

"I don't want to bother you Jes. I will just go home" He gets up to take Winnie from her, the girl's face red, and wet from crying.

Her little pout and tiny hiccups breaks Bible's heart, he shouldn't have been this careless, his child shouldn't have to suffer this much.

Jes gently holds Bible's wrist stopping him "Bible, I told you I want to be there for her and if I can help why not? Please look at her she's so hungry please feed her now, I can't see her crying like this."

Bible stumps down his shame and listens to what Jes said. He knows it's the right thing but he is also ashamed if there is any chance Jes might see his big breasts and thinks he's ugly.

He looks at his daughter, still crying and he swallows his doubts — her feeding comes first.

Jes guides them to his room, there's a desk with a chair in the middle of the room. Jes' belongings all scattered here and there. It's cozy and warm just how Bible imagines Jes to be.

The said man draws the curtain of the floor length window and Bible sits on the couch with Winnie in his lap.

Jes hesitates — first time ever Bible sees him shy. He doesn't miss the faint red blush creeping over his neck.

"I will be outside...tell me if you need anything" He rushes out his words before closing the door behind him.

Bible releases a sigh of breath he didn't realise he was holding.

Why is he so nervous all of a sudden?

Breastfeeding is natural, that's how babies feed.

And Bible never the one to compromise on his daughter.

Why is he so shy today?

He zips down the chain of his top — revealing his chest for Winnie to latch onto him and feed.

As soon as she sucks, her cries die down, she fists Bible's shirt and drinks to her heart's content.

Bible slumps on the sofa suddenly exhausted. His mind reels back to Jes, whether he's still outside the door.

He looks down at Winnie finding her asleep and when he tries to zip up his top he finds it stuck.

Fuck.

No.

His top's zipper is stuck to the fabric of the sofa. He tries to move a little, trying to wriggle out of it but Winnie stirs in her sleep.

Bible knows way too well if she gets up now she will cry for another two hours.

He sits there helpless, top falling over his shoulder, stuck to the sofa, a weird tension with his professor outside the room.

Bible calls for Jes, he doesn't know any way out. When the door slowly opens, Jes looks first at Winnie and smiles at her sleeping face, then his eyes falls on Bible.

His eyes land on his bare shoulder, his half naked chest and Bible swears he sees the man gulp down his throat.

He closes the door behind him and stands in the middle of the room. The space suddenly feeling too small for the two of them.

"I..." Bible clears his throat "My zipper got stuck to the sofa fabric"

Jes doesn't say anything, he moves on autopilot and kneels in front of Bible on the floor.

The omega takes a sharp inhale unable to mask it any longer from the alpha.

The closeness, the heat radiating from the two of them is way too much for him to handle. The tension is too palpable as Jes leans down and frees the zipper from the fabric.

Bible closes his eyes, the proximity too much for him. He can smell the alpha — his string woody scent, the sweet undertone in it.

It becomes too much, way too much.

He doesn't know why he lulls his head to the other side, baring his neck, presenting to the alpha.

Jes seems very much affected, even after the zipper is free he stays exactly where he is. His nose sliding down the long expanse of the omega — stopping at the delicious scent gland.

He buries his face there, shame be damned as he inhales the omegas' sweetness in his system.

His primal instincts take over as his presses a softest kiss on the gland as Bible lets out a little whimper, his head on cloud nine.

Jes' hand shoots out holding his waist as Bible is unable to sit upright.

His eyes are hazy, unfocused and he is so turned on his world has narrowed down to only the alpha in front of him.

Jes' eyes are dilated, his fingers sliding across the expanse of his waist slightly brushing his swollen nipples.

It elicits a slight gasp from Bible to which Jes just smirks. This is whole new different side of the man, his alpha instincts kicking in as Bible submits to the man as if that is his second nature.

Their tension is broken by a sharp ringtone of Jes' phone to which both of them jump — the trance breaking.

Bible stands up with Winnie in his arms and leaves the room, without a word leaving a very bewildered Jes frozen in his spot.
