Work Text:
-— Juds pov (ish) —-
3 months before our Lady of Perpetual Fortitude will open for the people of Chimney Rock a new bookkeeper was hired.
Jud had been avoiding hiring a new bookkeeper. Every time he filed another bill he was reminded that he needed someone to help with some of the work around the church but every time he thought about it he thought about Martha.
And because of that he slowly started to slack on the duties that he must tend to without a bookkeeper.
So once Jud couldn’t comfortably stack more papers in the storage closet that was Martha’s office, he stopped pretending like there was someone to help with the church and printed out some flyers and posted online asking for someone to work the ministry in his church and do some organizing.
Now not many weeks after the post

Opportunities, that’s why you left.
After your Job laid off your department that’s when you really strived for change.
You’ve lived in Cedar City pretty much all your life and now that your younger brother left for the military you’ve got nothing left in this town besides memories, regret, and familiar faces.
So when you came across a post asking for someone to help around a Catholic Church. It was your chance, you volunteered in your church for a few years working in the kids ministry and teaching music and with being a finance assistant you had the exact qualifications and you were catholic.
So you contacted the church and applied.
