“Mercury beast of the sea, Ive come to propose a deal” they said, trying to suppress the shake in their voice as they stared in into the dark waters of the cave infront of them.
“Enter siren and face your fate” A voice bellows from deep in the cavern they pause momentarily pondering all that led them to this situation but they know they must countinue forward if they ever wanted to be free.
The cave was dark, so dark it seemed to swallow them whole as they swam further and further into the depths.
“W-where are you?”
“I am everywhere” a large glowing eye opens next to them. “And nowhere” another opens ,and another, and another till they are almost completely surrounded by eyes staring them down.
“Now what is it that you wish for, young one?" The beast said, a looming threat in the dark waters.
“I wish to travel the land and sea as those who live above do," they said, a shiver running down their spine they had been rehearsing this moment in their head since learning of the beast but now they couldn’t help but feel apprehensive.
“Oh my, what a lofty wish.” It cackled “Are you sure that is what you truly want?”
"Yes, more than you could know." They replied, hands clasped together.
"Alright, I’ll give you what you seek, but it is not without cost."
“What do you—" but it was too late to question it as the beast began to swim in circles around them, causing the water to spiral, flinging them left and right until they eventually slammed into the cave wall, falling into unconsciousness.

Jack was walking on the beach when he spotted them, it was a person laying down face down in the sands.
“Crap, really hope yer not dead” he muttered as he stared down at the stranger. They were wearing some sort of helmet and what seemed to be standard pirate gear, they must have come from some sort of ship wreck the poor soul.
Jack sighed shaking his head slightly as he began to search for anything that could be used to identify them, their loved ones deserved to know what happened to them. And that’s when they began to stir, causing Jack to nearly jump right out of his skin

Their headache was the first thing they registered as they came to from being unconscious; the second was the voice that was speaking to them. "H-Hey, are you alright there?” They simply replied with a groan burying their face into the sand below them.
“Oh, good your alive!” The voice said with a relieved sigh “You know when I saw you wash up on the beach I thought the worst… How are you doing anyway?”
“Gahhh everything hurts” They groaned lifting their head slightly to look at the voice above them. It was a man with dark hair and eyes, his eyebrows were furrowed in concern as he started down at them
“Yeah I’d bet so” he said apologetically “How about we get you to town and to a doctor alright?” To that they gave a thumbs up as the attempted to push themself up… and immediately fell back into their face “Do you want some help there?” “Yes please

Golly this is awkward Jack thought as he half carried half dragged the injured stranger to town. Neither of them had talked almost the entire trip there and he was starting to feel a little antsy. Go on Jack make small talk like a normal person would “So uh in realizing that we never introduced ourselves. Hi there, I’m Ohio Jack, and you are?”
“Oh yeah, I’m… That’s weird” They muttered “I can’t remember my name”
