Chapter Text
It was the lunch break at the elementary school, the classroom was filled with children chatting or playing games with each other while their teachers watched over them.
Among those kids stood two young boys next to each other. The younger one, like a little puppy wagging its tail, said excitedly as he pointed at a group of kids gathered in the corner of the classroom to play a game, “Ge, let’s go join them!”
Then, with their little hands entwined, Xie Qingcheng found himself being dragged into a game of play house by the energetic little puppy.
However as they joined the game, things didn’t go as planned.
Among the group of kids, a pretty little girl named Li Rouqiu spoke up, declaring that she was going to be the mom this time. Then, pointing at the quiet, mature-looking, handsome little boy standing beside He Yu, she said, “And he will be the dad.”
Hearing this, He Yu immediately cut in. Shaking his head, he refused to let his ge be partners with anyone else.
“What? No! He is my wife!”
But the little girl didn’t stop there.
“What? Are you stupid? He is a boy. How could he be your wife?”
Refusing to accept it, as if talking louder would make him righteous, He Yu retorted with a roar, “You are stupid! He is my wife!”
Then he turned toward the boy who had been standing silent the whole time and said, “Ge, tell her that you are my wife, right?”
“She is right. I am a boy—” but before Xie Qingcheng could even finish his sentence, the rims of He Yu’s almond-shaped eyes began to redden with tears.
“Waaa… waaah..!”
Soon, He Yu’s loud cries filled the room, catching the teachers’ attention. They came over to separate the children and hopefully calm them down. But when they tried to pull He Yu away, the little boy refused to part from Xie Qingcheng, clinging to him like a koala.
And as He Yu kept crying more and more whenever they tried to separate them, the teachers eventually gave up, letting the little weeping dragon hug the older boy until he grew tired and eventually dozed off in Xie Qingcheng’s arms.

When He Yu woke up, he was still lying in Xie Qingcheng’s arms, his head resting against the boy’s shoulder and his arms wrapped around his waist. He Yu slowly retreated a bit and straightened himself on the older boy’s lap.
Xie Qingcheng looked at the boy moving around on his lap. Despite his age, Xie Qingcheng carried a quite mature aura, and his indifferent peach-blossom eyes held a gaze that revealed nothing about what he was thinking.
“You’re finally awake?”
“Mhm…” the newly awakened little puppy murmured.
Xie Qingcheng reached out to push back the strands of hair that had fallen onto the younger boy’s forehead. Then his fingers trailed down to wipe away the lingering tears on the chubby cheeks of the pretty-faced little boy.
“You are not a baby. You shouldn’t cry.”
The little puppy nuzzled his face against the fingers gliding across his cheeks.
“Mmm… ge, you weren’t serious earlier, right? You are my wife.” His voice was hoarse after all that wailing.
But he received the same answer again.
“She was right. I’m a boy. How could I be your wife?”
The red-rimmed, almond eyed boy was pouting when suddenly an idea sparked in his head, making him perk up as his eyes lit up with excitement. “Then… be my husband!” The little puppy wagged his invisible tail as he asked expectantly.
Xie Qingcheng’s peach-blossom eyes fell onto those almond eyes looking at him earnestly as he said, “Don’t we need to be married for that?”
The little puppy, whose mood had lifted once again, exclaimed, “Then let’s get married!”
And then He Yu, just like he had seen in the movies he secretly watched on TV, pressed his tiny lips against the peach-blossom-eyed boy in front of him.
From that day forward, both their parents and teachers caught He Yu calling Xie Qingcheng “husband” as he followed him around everywhere like a love-struck, clingy puppy.
