What are you waiting for? (love me)

Summary:

Yet in Satoru's eyes there was one silent voice behind all that fear and fury.

Love.

Suguru could feel it, even from his distance. Even through the crowd.

His love shone through miles.

Knowing this allowed Suguru one last thing.

To send him free.

OR

A very short one shot on the internal thoughts of Suguru and his perception of the KFC break up

Work Text:

The short lived, yet vibrant, life Suguru had lived with Satoru, was as genuine as it felt. Suguru longed for relinquishment. He wanted to be at peace, he wanted to live in a world where sorcerers could live and take in a breath of fresh air.

Yet all he knows is the disgusting taste of curses made of torment.

He was suffering. Suguru had lost his stronger build, now a thinner version of himself.

He looked nearly dead, so he acted as so.

He couldn’t allow himself the pleasure of taking Satoru down with him. He went down this road alone.

And without his will to live, he found reason to kill. He would kill all non-sorcerers for a chance of tranquility.

Yet this came at a cost.

Perhaps the most extraordinary of all.

Satoru.

His Satoru.

It was a cost he was willing to pay. He would give Satoru the life he deserved.

A life without burden. A life free of missions, a life free of captivity.

He wouldn’t allow him to use the world's weapons. Even if that meant he would never see him again.

So then the day came. It was early morning, and he had already been missing for weeks.

It was just days after killing his past village. He couldn’t pity himself for his cause.

It was all or nothing.

“Geto!” Shoko called from across the street.

A ringing struck through Suguru's chest.

Don't pity yourself.

“Shoko,” he waved. She ran across the street, not bothering with the street light.

Careless

just as Geto wanted them all. For every sorcerer to be freed.

He would free them from this awful world’s curses if it was the last thing he did.

Catching her breath still, she looked up at him. The look in her eye wasn’t sorrow, nor concern. It was pure relief.

“Where the hell have you been?” she had now caught her breath.

“Gone, for good reason,” he said, not suddenly or rudely. He was just honest, he didn’t need to fake it,

not anymore.

“Gojo has been going crazy looking for you.”

A thousand cuts from a simple four letter name. One that would twinge forever.

“Call him, no need to keep him waiting.”

Shoko had called and left. Geto practically sent her off.

This had to be his final goodbye, to everyone. He meant what he said.

No exceptions.

“Suguru”, his name, spat in such a way–it made him feel sick.

“Explain yourself.”

“Shoko told you everything there is to know, repeating would be redundant.”

He envisioned every word before saying it, he had to do this right.

“You don’t mean it, you can’t kill them.” Satoru’s voice had lost its charm. not hollow, nearly empty.

“i already did those closest to me, what’s more?” Suguru refused to look back, not yet, not now.

“You said when there isn’t a point, y-you said whe—“ his voice was breaking, as was Suguru’s heart, every word ripping it apart piece by piece.

“You can’t do it, what’s the point in trying?!” Satoru was trying so hard.

He couldn’t breathe,

he could hardly even see.

The people surrounding them were suffocating.

“You know you won’t accomplish this! So why try?!”

He had to scream, farther now.

Suguru stood still.

Tell me to stay,

Don't tell me it isn’t worth it.

just tell me to be with you, to live out our lives side by side.

Tell me you need me.

Say it.

What are you waiting for?

“You’re so arrogant.”

Now he has turned. Now he would face his fear.

He has already lost,

far more than just the extraordinary.

“You think something entirely possible for you is impossible for me?” He didn’t raise his voice, afraid it would break.

Suguru now stands across from Satoru, finally meeting his eyes. Satoru looked estranged–Shoko hadn’t lied. In all honesty, he looked crazy.

Yet in Satoru's eyes there was one silent voice behind all that fear and fury.

Love.

Suguru could feel it, even from his distance.

Even through the crowd.

His love shone through miles.

Knowing this allowed Suguru one last thing. To send him free. Despite all these nights Suguru spent in agony, he would continue till death if it enabled Satoru one glance at peace. Even if that glance wasn't shared with him. It was worth it, and it would amount to the world. He would give Satoru what he deserved, and with that thought, Suguru is back in reality.

“At least curse me at the very end.”
