“Where’s my favourite boy?” A soft voice said with barely hidden amusement. “I will find him and then hug him, and eat him!”
A small giggle slipped through the hands that were covering a huge smile. A grown man silently walked closer and swept up a toddler. When the kid's feet were off the ground, he let out a happy squeak that turned into laughter from his whole heart. His small body wriggled in Senkuu's arms like a little worm or snake, just like his mom. But the father still placed plenty of kisses on round cheeks, the forehead, and everywhere else he could reach. At some point, the toddler was all red from laughing and the ticklish feeling of his father’s hair, so the scientist gave him a pause, his lips curled into a big, fond smile.
A couple of minutes ago, Senkuu's voice was heard by the whole family through the kitchen window, and it made their little boy ran off to hide. Gen let out a small chuckle as he saw how fast his kid disappeared from the dinner table and went straight to the entrance door to greet his beloved alpha:
“Welcome home, dear Senkuu!” After a small but gentle peck, he smiled. “Our baby’s hiding. He ran so fast that I didn’t have a chance to stop or catch him at all!
“Mm, then I’ll go and find him in a moment.” One of the alpha’s hands gently reached for the round cheek of his pair, while the other rested on the slightly visible baby bump. ”How are you? Was Byakuya making trouble again? If you’re too tired, I’ll make dinner so you can go and rest a little. You’ve done too much today already…”
“Such nonsense.” The mentalist’s eyes were soft and half-moon shaped as he had a tender smile on his face. “He has never made a single bit of trouble. And must I remind you, my dear Senkuu, that I’m pregnant, not sick? And I’ve done it already, I mean it. I’ve carried one of your children already and even delivered him!”
Behind the fake annoyance of Gen, there was barely hidden happiness, and as sly as he is, the alpha still saw it behind the mask. The younger man let out a small breath and tried his best to restrain himself from lovingly rolling his eyes:
“I know it. I’ll tell you even more: I was also present in your “first rodeo”, from start to finish - at every stage as well. But this time there’s a difference – you have not only to grow a new human inside your body, but also to look after a little tornado that’s running around after its curiosity. Love, I wouldn’t be worried if this kid was your copy. But he’s a little “me”, and I know myself really well to know how unstoppable he may be when it comes to something new or interesting…”
He had no chance to finish his whole monologue, as his spouse left a loud kiss directly on his mouth. Gen seemed very proud as he said:
“Okay, babe, you may worry, if you really want to, but I’m fine. Now go and find our little sunshine and come back quickly so we can spend some nice time together. Dinner’s almost ready.”
With a humorous huff, the scientist rubbed the baby bump once more, and then he went straight to the living room to find his baby. Senkuu looked around with a lazy gaze, trying to catch any hint of where his little copy – Byakuya – was.
Of course, he already knew where to look. In a moment, his gaze softened as he heard a small giggle and noticed a barely visible, thought predictable, movement of the curtains behind the couch. Senkuu decided to play along and said with fake amusement:
“Oh no, I cannot find my little Byakuya anywhere! My marvelous son, the apple of my eye, where are you?” The little one was indeed having fun, trying to stop his chuckles and laughs. “I have to find you, or my heart will be forever broken! Even science will be of no help in this crucial situation.”
He was walking around, avoiding the couch on purpose and loudly talking to himself. If someone from the laboratory or even his friends saw him doing this, they would be too stunned to say anything or would laugh their lungs out. By imagining a big, green, hyena-like laugh from his main bullies – Kohaku and Xeno, oh, and Gen, of course – he unconsciously made a face. But a new movement of the curtain fabric drew his attention, so he decided to forget about others and focus all his attention on his family.
“Where’s my favourite boy?” A soft voice said with barely hidden amusement. “I will find him and then hug him, and eat him!”
A small giggle slipped through the hands that, as he knew, were covering a huge smile. The grown man silently walked closer and scooped up a toddler. When the kid's feet were off the ground, he let out a happy squeak that turned into laughter from his whole heart. At some point, the toddler was all red from laughing and the ticklish feeling of his father’s hair, so the scientist gave him a break, his lips curled into a big fond smile.
The boy was still giggling in a big, comfortable hug when he heard the warm tone of his mother. Gen stepped into their bubble of after-fun and tried his best not to sound too strict:
“Have you found our sunshine, dear Senkuu?” He pretended that there was no laughing toddler in his husband’s arms. ”You have to find my little baby, my tiny tornado, my itsy-bitsy chatterbox son!”
“Look there, Mentalist, I’ve got him.” The alpha adjusted the boy in his arms and pulled him closer to the magician. “There’s our sweet boy. It was so hard to find him, but he’s finally found and safe and sound”.
“Is that so? Then make sure that he doesn’t run away again, and let’s go have dinner. Everything’s served and already waiting for us. So hop-hop to the dining room, because I don’t know about you, but I’m starving.”
After those words, one of Senkuu’s hands rested on Gen’s waist as they walked to another room. The whole family of three (for another few months) was talking about their day, exchanging jokes and peacefully dining as the evening, and then the night, was falling over the Ishigami village. It was another dinnertime full of talking, giggles, and deep, wholehearted love that ran through the growing Ishigami-Asagiri family.
