Chapter Text
Grian had been looking towards the desert for a few minutes, head ringing, looking back on his life for the last 2 months; his back was turned on his sand tower, which had been his and Scars base, and next to the tower was a ring, circled with prickly cactus, in which the middle lay Scars' cold, lifeless body. Grian felt terrible; he and Scar had beaten each other up until one had won, which was him. He and Scar had teamed up 2 months back due to Grian promising him loyalty on his green life after a prank gone wrong, which was leading a creeper towards Scar that had accidentally killed him. But now, 8 weeks later, Scar is dead, gone. His last words ringing in Grians head. His blood lay on Grians hand. Grian had decided he couldn’t stand there anymore. He had made a decision to jump, but not before saying his last words.
“This was amazing, goodbye!”
He had jumped off, and now was falling through the desert, he looked around, and saw the sand floor that he once walked through and called home, that now would be the death of him. As he hit the sand, he thought he was going to be back to Hermitcraft, home. Where he would see all his friends, apart from those not on Hermitcraft, he would be able to apologize to Scar for what happened and what he had done to him.
but he never did. He woke up in pitch blackness, laying on nothingness, he stood up, looking around confused, where was he? But after a few seconds he processed that this was the minecraft void, this lay under every dimension, in the overworld and nether under bedrock and in the end right out in the open, but what was he doing here? He hadn’t even touched the bedrock in the life game, nevertheless the void. Maybe a species of sorts brought him here, but which kind?
The void is known to host many friendly species like voidlings, but it also hosts very dangerous ones, and those like-
“Well, if it isn't our amazing Xelqua” many distorted voices chuckled amusingly. Many eyes showed up, circling him, keeping him trapped in one location, above their logo, the Evo smp logo. Grian didn’t want to remember Evo so he kept looking up at the eyes staring back at him.
The watchers
The watchers, they’re some of, if not one of the most dangerous known species in the void, Grian had a past with them, heck he was a part of them, they took him from his server called Evolution smp - where they traveled through every version, starting from the oldest to the newest - what were they doing here? They already tortured him enough with Third Life, with the betrayals, with the deaths of his own friends which lay at his hands, with Scar. What else could they possibly need from him?
“What do you guys want? You already tortured me enough!” Grian angrily yelled out. He was scared of them but he wasn’t going to let fear get the better of him.
“Xelqua, we need you to return to us right now, or else we will continue to torture you with the life games!” The watchers roared; they were prepared to torture everybody Grian loved with his own game to get him back into their control, but Grian is stubborn; he isn’t going to give in that easily.
“I already told you guys my answer, so continue torturing me using my game, I will not budge, I won’t return back!” Grian yelled back at them, he isn’t going to return to them, and they know that, so why continue trying to force him back, if he is stubborn like that? It doesn’t make sense to him.
“Well then, if that’s your answer, so be it. Be prepared to continue playing these murderous life games, betray your allies, murder your foes, only to be forgotten by them all in the next game!”
The watchers had decided; they were determined to make sure his punishment was going to be horrible. They wanted to break him, make him regret his disobedience towards them, and wanted him to beg mercy of them.
Grian was mortified; to say the least. He would continue to play the games he had created for fun, now as punishment, he would betray his allies, kill his enemies and maybe even sacrifice his life to teammates, all of that, just be forgotten by them in the next game, it was going to be horrible but he could deal with it, he dealt with Evo and this won’t be any different.
But he had just one thought that would differentiate Evo from this. And that was the one thought ringing in his mind: Scar. What would happen to Scar if he won, the watchers are ruthless, and they are not going to let their escapee's lover leave without a scratch, that’s for sure. Grian knew Scar was going to get it rough. But he couldn’t stop Scar from winning, Scar is a skilled player and he is going to win at one point. He wishes there was a way to protect him from this but he knew there wasn’t.
Right as Grian was thinking about Scar, his body started feeling weak and his sight went blurry, and then he fell onto the floor, and then finally after a few seconds his sight went dark. ———————————————————————————————————————
He had suddenly woken up in a new life game, Grian felt uneasy, he knew it was going to get bad from now, especially with how Third life had ended. But he isn’t going to focus on the past now, the new third life had to be introduced and he needed to observe the other players and the difference in the two games as he knew the Watchers are going to bring in a new plot twist.
As he was observing the other players, he had noticed differences in this life game compared to the previous one; the original 14 players of Third Life were here, but this time his best friend Mumbo, Lizzie and his old time friend Pearl had joined. Grian didn’t like the fact that Pearl was here; he didn’t want her to get roped into the Watcher mess with him, didn’t want her to suffer like him, but he couldn’t do anything about it now. He noticed that at the middle of spawn, there was a bedrock circle of obsidian filling it, with an enchanter in the middle.
‘That is unnatural’ He thought in mind, but he didn’t care about that right now, he needed to make sure he could complete his goal that was in mind.
win
He wasn't going to let another player suffer at the hands of the watchers; that is for sure. He looked around at the other 16 players; he had realized the competition. Joel, Scott, Pearl and a few others were good at pvping, himself and some others were good at trapping, so he needed to make sure his team is good so he can win, a mix of pvpers like Joel and trappers like himself. But for now, he should introduce the rules of the new life game, the second season of third life, aka Last life.
“Welcome to Last Life, the second of many life games!”
Those words felt unnatural to come out of his mouth, because he thought there would never be another after Third life, but he was wrong, next to that he is the admin, so he had to explain the rules otherwise there would be chaos. After he had explained the rules of the new game, and the boogeyman, every player ran off, going deeper into the Last life server; they were going to go get some gear to prepare for the later sessions, all the betrayals and murder. Grian looked around for a few seconds at the spawn of the server before he’d run off himself, promising to make sure nobody else suffered at the watcher's hand.

Last life, session 8
Scott, Pearl and Cleo were hanging out in the green club base, in which they had just changed the name to the Gs club since they couldn't trust the other greens. Cleo had just told the other 2 about instant harming 2 potions. They had just given both Scott and Pearl 1 each to use in battle against the reds and boogeymen when all three of them had gotten pinged on their communicators; they all knew what was coming next.
The boogeyman was about to be chosen
All three of them looked nervous, none of them wanted to get it this session due to the fact that this might be their last session and they didn’t want to betray the other greens especially due to the reds being super unhinged, mainly Grian and Joel though. They all made a little circle and looked at each other hoping not to get it.
The timer counted down to the reveal of the boogeymen

You are….
The boogeyman
“I’m fine, I’m good” Pearl gladly announced, glad that she wasn’t the boogeyman anymore after the last session.
“I’m also fine, not the boogey” Cleo stated right after Pearl. Also glad about not being the boogeyman. they hadn't gotten boogeyman this whole season, which made them glad but that doesn't mean they weren't victim of the boogeymans, getting betrayed by their ex-teammate BigB who was boogeyman in session 4.
Scott was glad at least none of his other teammates were boogeymen like him. But he knew he had to tell them the truth. They were teammates and all trusted each other to tell the truth about being a boogeyman, so he did.
“I’m not, I'm the boogey” he sadly shared. “Why would it give it to me?”
The other two were shocked but that shock died as quickly.
“Well, it’s because you’re yellow, Scott,” Pearl answered his question.
“But that’s the worst!” Scott yelled back. He didn’t want to kill anybody, but he knew that he had to kill somebody, as he was the boogeyman, Pearl and Cleo were suggesting players to kill, like Ren. But then Scott had a realization about the boogeyman that if he shared, would be called insane for.
Who said he had to kill somebody?
Yes, it was stated in the rules that as boogeyman you must kill somebody otherwise you would be turned red once the session was over but sometimes rules can be broken, yes, he would go to red when the session was over, but he would go to red soon anyways since he was on yellow, and he would probably be red anyways if his attempt at boogeyman failed, so why not?
“I mean, I could just play this as if I’m not the boogeyman, because I would probably die anyways if my attempt fails” Scott exclaimed.
Pearl and Cleo were at first shocked with what he had said, because nobody else had ever decided to fail as boogeyman, intentionally or not, but after a few minutes agreed with his take because what he said was technically correct, if he fails at his attempt of killing a non-red, he will die, if he doesn’t try anything, he loses a life at the end of the session. Either way, he would lose a life. And he’d rather not try to ruin his alliances with the other non-reds on the server as he knew that they needed to team up to take down Grian and Joel, two of the most unhinged reds on the server.
Little did Scott know that
This would be a grave mistake.
