Chapter Text
Woojin woke up groaning. He held his head in pain, as he pushed the blanket off of himself. Just yesterday he had turned 18 and nothing had been going well since.
He had spent the night out with his friends, and came back super late.
He was drenched in the rain, and his hair was all messy, scars all over his face and and arms, which scared his mother half to death.
His parents had rushed him to the hospital at 2am in the morning.
After getting treated, they returned home soon after. On the way back, Woojin explained that it had been a very long night.
His mother was worried, because of all the scars and the condition he was in, but decided to let him sleep it off for the night.
In the morning Woojin got up, pushed back his hair, to see all the bandages covering his cheeks and forehead.
"Ah, I hope they don't leave scars." He sighed putting his hand back down and walked over to the door. As he was opening the door, he nudged his toe in between and he let out a yelp.
His parents looked over concerned. He smiled reassuringly.
His family was already awake. His siblings had gone to school as it was a Monday.
His mother let him sleep in, and had let him take the day off.
He greeted his parents, strutting over with pain all over his body. He came over sitting down on the table.
His father looked down at him, "you okay?" he asked softly.
Woojin nodded, "just fine." Then put his head down on the table.
His mother walked over with a bowl, placing it in front of him, before knocking on the table.
"Uh-uh, Jin-e, no sleeping on the table. Get up, and eat." She said as he looked up, grabbing the spoon.
"Did you wash up?" She asked and he halted staring at her.
"Yesssssssss-" He hissed almost, and she sneered catching onto his lie.
"Jung Woojin." She raised an eyebrow. He smiled putting down the spoon. "I'll be back."
His father chuckled as he rushed off. His mother sighed, shaking her head. "Slowly!"
"Did you ask him yet?" She said looking at her husband.
"Let him eat, I'll ask." He smiled and she nodded sitting down next to him.
Woojin opened the washroom door, stepping inside. His foot slid ahead as he almost slipped onto the floor. His heart almost came out as he supported himself back on his feet.
"Oh my..." he laughed, holding onto the sink. He smiled turning on the faucet and the water sprayed all over his face, and his clothes.
He grabbed onto the faucet, with a yell he tried his best, to turn it off.
"Oh my God, this boy." His mother sighed getting up in a hurry.
"Wait here, I'll check up on him." His father said putting down the newspaper. He walked over calling out to Woojin.
As he reached the door, he saw Woojin all drenched. His lips parted, as he reached below the sink, turning the water off.
He looked up at Woojin, who's eyes were closed, his hair all wet, and his clothes clinging onto his body.
"Everything alright?" Woojin's mother called out.
"Yes honey! Everything is fine." He smiled grabbing the towel on his right. He draped it around Woojin, drying his hair as well.
"What was that?" She said walking over to see her husband covering Woojin.
"I guess your son has washed up now, along with taken a quick shower." He said stepping aside to reveal the drenched Woojin.
He hadn't spoken a word, as if accepting his reality.
His mother freaked out stepping inside the water puddle without another thought. She reached out, cupping her son's face.
"Oh my! Woojin!" She said wiping away the water on his face.
"I'm fine ma." he reassured her, as Woojin's father tried taking them out of the water.
"Oh no, you're bandages are all wet, oh." she sighed taking him out to the lounge.
She made him sit down, as she grabbed another towel.
"Wipe yourself, I'll bring you a fresh pair of clothes."
"Ma, its okay, I can do it myself." He smiled.
She didn't bother listening as she went inside his room. Woojin dried himself up, as well as peeled off the wet bandages.
His father walked over with the first aid kit, and sat in front of him.
"Care to tell now?" He said looking inside the kit.
"Huh?" Woojin tilted his head.
"How you managed to get yourself into all this?" He said pointing to all the scars on Woojin's face and arms.
"Ah..." Woojin sighed.
Last night Woojin was meeting up with friends at the gaming cafe. On his way, he bumped into a delivery guy, from where his jacket got stained and his shirt reeked of Budae jjigae. He got a few scars on his hands and legs, as he fell on the side of the road.
He entered the PC room, with the stained shirt, but at the reception his card was out of balance, and a friend paid for him.
The friend, Martin, didn't mind saying, it was his birthday gift from his side.
Woojin felt indebted but decided to join his friends in the end. The computer he sat in front of was out of order, and it took a while for the staff to fix it, so he had to sit far away from his friends.
And when he ordered food, nothing seemed to be in stock.
Woojin sighed, as the day was barely getting any better.
Noticing his mood, Martin decided that all of them should go to the nearest convenience store. The friends agreed and everyone set out.
Woojin tried to smile the whole way, but he clearly was in a bad mood, his outfit got ruined, and he couldn't pay for anything, yet enjoy playing the game with his friends.
Martin noticed his sour mood, and low energy. He stayed by his side, as the rest were already ahead.
"Sad about your jacket?" Martin asked looking down at the blue jacket Woojin held onto.
"Eh?" he said looking down, "no its just-"
Martin pulled off the jacket his was wearing. "Wear mine instead, and smile."
Martin said passing over his jacket. Woojin was taken aback, as he tried to refuse.
Martin kept insisting as Woojin finally took it in the end and draped it over his shoulders, hiding the stain on his shirt.
"Thanks," Woojin said smiling at Martin.
"Don't mention it." Martin laughed.
"Its a bit big." Woojin said pushing out his hand from the sleeve, "but thankyou."
Martin smiled with a nod. "I'll pay for your snacks."
"What no, you don't have to," Woojin's eyes widened.
"You don't have money on you."
"But you don't need to, I can't have you keep paying for me."
"I don't mind-"
"I do Martin, thankyou, a lot. But-"
"I get it, don't worry." Martin smiled and Woojin nodded as they reached the convenience store.
As everyone was entering one by one, Martin and Woojin stood by the zebra crossing, waiting for the red light to turn green.
"What if we just walk over, there's no cars." Woojin suggested.
"Ooh, just because you've turned 18 now, you've become rebellious? That's a new side to you Jung Woojin." Martin snickered.
"Hey, its none of that. And its hyung for you. You're still 17." Woojin said getting on his tip-toes to intimidate Martin.
"Yes, yes hyung." Martin laughed, clearly mocking him, jokingly of course.
Woojin scoffed, "oh whatever." He said making his way across the street.
"Wait Woojin!" Martin called out in a genuine tone as he looked over to see a truck speeding ahead, making its way towards Woojin.
Woojin's eyes widened as his feet froze on the spot, and he wouldn't move.
The truck's horn was so loud, it kept ringing in Woojin's ears, before he was pulled back, and he fell to the ground.
The truck drove past in full speed as Martin was still holding onto Woojin's wrist. He had fallen and onto his palms' which scarred and were bleeding.
"Oh my God." Martin said looking at the truck then at Woojin. "Woojin, are you okay? Woojin! Can you hear me?" He said shaking him back and forth.
Woojin looked over startled, "I-i I'm sorry, I-"
"You scared me..." He sighed loudly.
"You guys okay!" Juhoon yelled from the other side.
Martin looked over, "yeah!"
Woojin got up, drying the dust off his clothes.
"Woojin you're bleeding." Martin whispered.
"What-" Woojin said staring at his hands, which were burning like crazy.
"Juhoon-ah!" Martin called out to Juhoon who stood by the other side of the road. "Wait for us, we'll be back!"
"What!?"
"Buy some snacks, I'll bring Woojin over in a bit!" Martin said holding onto Woojin's wrist again.
Then he dragged Woojin away, as he kept asking where they were headed.
Martin took him to the pharmacy nearby, told him to stand outside, as he went inside to get the medicine. Woojin sighed, waiting for Martin.
He sighed, "why's everything bad happening..." he pouted.
As he waited for Martin he looked over to the loud noise coming from the side, he saw a drunk man forcing himself onto a woman.
His lips parted as he looked around to see no one was helping. He clutched his hands into tight fists, making his way over.
He tried intervening between them, but the man held onto his collar, threatening him as well now. Woojin grabbed onto the man's arm, telling him to calm down.
The man, in rage, threw a punch at Woojin, and he fell to the ground, with a bruised lip. The woman, terrified, stepped back down.
The man held onto his collar again, "who the fuck are you!?"
Woojin could barely speak, as he breathed out loud, grabbing onto the man's collar as well, and collided their heads together.
This resulted in a loud bang and the man fell back holding onto his head, in pain. Woojin was also hurt in the progress, as he whined, poking his inner cheek.
Martin stepped outside, trying to look for Woojin. He looked to his right, with horror, his eyes widened, seeing Woojin on the ground.
"Woojin!" Martin yelled running over.
Woojin looked back with a pout, "Marti-" He was about to call out to him when he felt the man approaching him again, this time with a broken bottle in his hand.
Woojin's eyes widened as he tried hitting Woojin with it, but he backed up, and it only scarred him on the forehead, but blood instantly started dripping down, from the slight wound.
"Ahrgh!" he yelled getting up from the ground. Martin ran over, holding onto him, staring up and down at him, with bruises all over.
"Woojin-" he said looking back at the man. "You!"
"Martin stop! The police are here-" Woojin sighed pulling him back by the arm.
The man was arrested and Woojin was taken in as the victim and witness.
He was allowed to leave after almost an hour, and Martin was still there, waiting for him, in the rain.
"Martin you should've gone home, its literally 1am." Woojin sighed, as Martin put on the medicine on his hands.
"First we should take you to the hospital." Martin said looking up in the sky.
"No need for that-" Woojin sighed, as his hair was all wet.
Martin sighed, "here's the snacks." He said passing them on.
Woojin held onto the snacks that Juhoon had left behind.
"The others left for home."
"Understandable." Woojin nodded.
"They left gifts."
"Haha, they got me gifts?"
Martin nodded. "I'll drop you home?"
"...would be nice." Woojin said staring at the rain getting faster.
"Sure then, come along, you can open the gifts tomorrow."
Woojin nodded as the two headed to Martin's car. Of course he wasn't the one driving it. Woojin was dropped off at home, with the gifts.
Woojin told Martin to leave from there on, and that he could take care of the rest. He even passed back the jacket.
Even though he barely stood out in the rain, he was already soaking wet.
"You went to the police station!?" Woojin's mother's eyes widened.
"Ma its not like I committed a crime-"
"Oh my, he's ruined himself ever since he turned 18." She sighed and Woojin's father patched him up again.
"Its fine son, you just had a rough day. It'll get better."
"I'd hope so too."
