Chapter Text
"So what you're telling me is that you... don't know?" The eldest clock keeper pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. Nene shifted uncomfortably. She cleared her throat before speaking.
"Um... yes?"
Kako started saying something, stopped himself, then started again, "You dragged the human Yugi brothers from a different timeline, here... by accident?" he asked.
"Yes?! What do you want me to say? One second Akane is sending me back in time, the next I'm back here with those two!" She angrily gestured at Amane, who looked just as confused, and Tsukasa, who was more interested in trying to get his brother to hold his hand.
"How?"
"I DON'T KNOW! Are we speaking the same language right now? You're the time guy, figure it out! How the hell should I know?" Nene yelled. Mirai giggled, jumped up from her seat at the table, and wandered away from the conversation.
"Okay! Okay, what were you doing right before you came back here?"
"I, um..." She drew a blank.
Tsukasa tugged at Amane's shirt. "Pick me up!"
"Not now, Tsukasa." Amane stared at his brother. Hard. "This is unnatural." He held his hand.
Nene cleared her throat. "I was in Hanako's house-"
"-That's not my name-"
"-Don't interrupt me! I was in Amane's house, and he was threatening Tsukasa, so I grabbed his arm, and we ended up back here."
Mirai snuck up behind the twins.
Kako's eye twitched. He took a deep breath.
"Alright. Yugi Amane from the sixties, Yugi Tsukasa from the fifties, and Yashiro Nene from the present day walk into the clock keeper's boundary. This is not funny. Mirai, where are you?"
"Right here!" Mirai exclaimed cheerfully as she turned time forward on Tsukasa.
"Why would you do that?!" Kako shouted.
"They match now, look!" Mirai pointed out. It was true, the twins looked the same age now.
"What did you just do to me?" Tsukasa asked.
"What the fuck?" Amane yelled in alarm, "You can do that?! He was four! Just a second ago, he was a toddler! HOW?"
"OKAY, ENOUGH!" Kako barked, "NOBODY MOVE!"
Everyone froze.
"Mirai. Get back here. Now."
The youngest clock keeper hopped over to him. Kako bent over, picked her up, and stared at the group.
'Yup, this is it. The reason my lifespan is so short. This is where I die.' Nene thought.
"This is a nightmare. You have meddled too much in the timeline. How am I going to fix this?!" He took a shaky breath, "Okay, the twins are the same age, that's good. Yashiro is alive, I can work with that..."
Tsukasa patted himself on the torso, as if to check that he was real, and looked up.
"Amane, what the hell is going on?" He asked.
"You think I know?" Amane responded.
Kako turned his attention to the twins, "Alright, you two, -"
"-Yes?!-"
"-Sorry to say this, but you're never going to return home. Yashiro!-"
"-What?!-"
"-You will follow my solution, or else I will make sure that you were never born, understand?"
"Y-yes, sir!" Nene sheepishly agreed.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Amane asked nervously.
"I'm sending you to a different timeline. You will retain these memories, as well as the memories of the version of you in the timeline. I do not know if this will apply to the others involved other than Akane, but if it does, then make sure to tell them this: If you mess with the timeline again, I will make sure you end up with the most miserable reality that I can grant you." He stated coldly.
"Okay."
'Is Amane coming back with me?' She thought.
"You will know in approximately three days if they remember. If not, then let it go."
"Wait, what do you mean, never return home? Amane, what is going on?" Tsukasa asked nervously. "I'm scared."
Kako pulled out his watch.
"What are you doing? Stop!" Amane yelled.
The eldest clock keeper began to turn back time.
Nene gasped. She was on a street she didn't recognise, and it was dark and cold outside.
'What! What just happened? Where am I? What time is it? Where's Hanako?'
She felt a tap on her shoulder. Nene screamed.
"Miss Nene! It's me!" Amane blurted.
"Jesus! Don't do that!"
"I'm sorry!"
"Where are we?!" Tsukasa demanded. Nene had never seen a human being look more scared in her whole life.
"I'll find out! Give me a second!" She pulled her phone out. It was nine at night. She checked her location. Just a few streets away from where the Minamoto family lived.
'Perfect!'
She sent a quick text to her mum explaining where she was before calling Kou.
The twins took the chance to properly look at their surroundings. They were greeted with unfamiliar streets and strange-looking cars. Tsukasa felt disoriented.
"Amane. What is that? In her hand?" Tsukasa asked, sounding close to tears.
"Uhh. A phone? She's putting it to her ear, so it's probably a phone."
"But it's not plugged in."
"Tsukasa. I am about to seriously freak out."
Kou picked up the phone. Before he could say anything, Nene started rambling.
"KOUOHMYGODICAN'TBELIEVEWHATJUSTHAPPENEDPLEASETELLMEYOUREMEMBERIFNOTSOHELPMEGODIWILLDIVEINTOTHESEAANDSERVETHEMERMAIDFORTHERESTOFMYLIFE."
Kou stayed quiet for a minute.
"Nene! I do remember! I was with Mitsuba, and he was human. We were tricked! We went to the red house. We were... and then he... and then I... and then he... and then I... and then he..."
"Oh, thank god! Kou, can I come over?" She asked.
"Please do!"
"I'll be there in five!"
Teru yawned and made his way downstairs.
'I've been sleeping way too close to night time. I should check on Kou and Tiara.'
He opened the door to the living room.
"Hey, Kou, what's u-"
Teru froze. He stared at the table where Yashiro and the Yugi twins were sitting comfortably.
"Hello, Minamoto!" Nene greeted him happily.
"Nope! I am way too tired for this shit!" He announced as he left the room.
