Chapter Text
Avery looked upon the thing that stood before him, gazing upon the broken armor and cloth that once belonged to his love.
Barely a whisper escaped his lips, but the creature heard them clearly
“Lord?”
The thing looked upon Avery, pausing for a moment, as if recognizing the man that stood before him. But the moment was fleeting, and the left hand of the monster that was a great and honorable warrior slowly rose until the point of the simple weapon, a bow, faced his temple.
Avery stepped back, a pleading look on his face
“Lord I cannot lose you again to that monster… but if it is your will, it should have been me that died that day, and if you take my life the scales are balanced. But if there is anything left of the man I loved in you, then please show me and lay down your bow.”
The being just stood, a helmet of void leaking yellow ichor gazed towards him. It reached for its belt where a wooden axe, the same wooden axe, lay as the bow in his left hand seemingly loaded itself without the need of its user's attention.
The creature stalked towards Avery and placed the bow to his temple, the cold steel faintly piercing his forehead letting blood drip onto his skin and green attire. As the bow drew itself back, the creature's right hand still on the axe, Avery accepted the end that he was long due for.
Slash
He waited a moment, two, three, ten seconds stretched like an eternity, but death’s bliss did not come for him. One eye opened to see the now one armed being before him, the hand holding the bow convulsing as if it had a mind of its own on the ground. A blood stained axe was gripped in the the other hand, and words, not even as loud as a whisper escaped the helmet of the creature D3rlord.
“Whatever you do at the crossroads… keep going forward… please.”
A yellow rimmed portal looking upon the medical tent appeared behind Avery with the sound of reality unslipping just slightly. Avery took a small glance behind him, and in an instant, D3rlord moved with speed unbecoming of the shambling corpse he was now, and shoved Avery through the portal he had created, a cruel mockery of what he had once witnessed.
Scrambling from the ground reaching for the rapidly closing sickly yellow gate to his lover, Avery screamed.
“Wait, D3rlord WAIT”
Three final words came from his love, as servants of the Yellow King emerged from the ground, rushing around D3rlord, clawing to claim the obsession of the Emperor above Emperors.
“Goodbye… my friend”
The portal rimmed in yellow shut, with the noise of a slamming door echoing across the hospital tent.
