Work Text:
Keefe walked through the hallways of the school. He was ditching, as usual. He was also bored. He didn’t feel like sitting down to draw at the moment, so he was trying to think of a new prank. That’s when a flash of silver caught his eye. He turned to see a boy with silver bangs sitting on one of the hallway benches, looking out a window. Keefe grinned. Annoying Tam was the perfect cure for boredom. His smile widened when he noticed Tam had earbuds in. The perfect opportunity to scare him. He started slowly walking towards him, making sure to stay out of his line of sight. He heard Tam sigh, and froze.
“I know you’re trying to sneak up on me, Keefe.” Tam said, without turning around.
Keefe didn’t move. There was no way he saw or heard him, he must just say things like that randomly, in case Keefe is trying to scare him. There was no way he actually-
“I can see your reflection in the window.”
…Dang it.
“So, Bangs boy, what are you doing out here? Ditching, perhaps?” Keefe asked, casually walking over, like he hadn’t just been trying to sneak up on him.
“No actually, I just have a free period. Some of us actually care about our grades.” Tam told him.
“I care about my grades!” Keefe gasped, putting his hand on his chest in mock offense. “I’m just too smart for those boring classes!”
“Yeah sure. Now if you’re done bragging, you can leave me alone. I was actually enjoying myself before you showed up.” He retorted.
“You? Enjoying yourself? Instead of brooding and being grumpy?” Keefe gasped. “Who are you and what have you done with my Tammy?”
“Ha ha, very funny.” Tam said. “If you must know, an artist I like released a new album that I’ve been listening to.”
“Oooooh, what artist? My first guess would be MCR, but I would know if they had a new album. Or maybe it’s not emo? Metal? Hard core rock? Or-”
“Sabrina Carpenter.”
“Wait what.” Keefe said.
“Sabrina Carpenter.” Tam repeated, rolling his eyes. “Contrary to popular belief, I do enjoy pop.”
“Huh.” Keefe said dumbly, still trying to process the new information he’d gained. “Is she good?”
“Have you never listened to Sabrina Carpenter before?”
“I have! But only, like, on the radio, and I wasn’t paying that much attention.” He replied defensively.
Tam sighed, and held out an earbud. Keefe just stared at it in confusion.
“You put it in your ear, idiot.” Tam told him.
“I know that! I just. Didn’t expect you to offer.”
“Well I am. Take it or leave it.”
Keefe grabbed the earbud and popped it in his ear, sitting down next to Tam.
“Wow, look at how cute we are! Someone might actually think we’re friends!” He exclaimed, then paused. “Or on a date~”
“You wish.”
“No, you wish.”
“Just shut up and listen.”
