Too Long

Summary:

Scott was too, just staring at Abolish. He seemed shocked, and rightfully so. He tried to say something, but his mouth just opened and closed. It was the first time Abolish had ever seen him speechless.

“Seriously! You were right there for two hundred years, and we just figured it out!” He said, half angry, half amused.

Aka Scott and Abolish figure out that they are soulmates while they are living in New York.

Chapter 1: Abolish Veylocke

Chapter Text

Abolish sat on the second floor balcony of a tall stone building, watching Scott make his way through the streets of New York. He was walking casually, most likely going back to his apartment.

Abolish used his vampiric abilities to turn invisible, jumping off the balcony. No one noticed him,  so he continued, being careful not to run into anyone. The problem with being invisible is that people would try to walk straight through you, so you had to dodge out of the way. Especially in a place as crowded as New York City.

When Abolish got closer to Scott, he noticed something. Scott was wearing a black ripped tank top, which was probably the most revealing thing Abolish had seen him wear. That was not the strange thing however. The strange thing was that it was showing off a small moon symbol on his shoulder.

To the average person, it would look like a tattoo. Something Scott had chosen arbitrarily to ink into his skin. For Abolish however, it had a lot more meaning, because he had the same mark. It was a soulmate mark and he had had it since he was born. He had always hoped that his soulmate was a born vampire, someone who was only a few years older than him. But if Scott had the same mark…

Abolish decided that he needed to know. Was it incredibly unprofessional of him? Yes. Was it going to scare the heck out of Scott? Probably. He didn’t care. He waited until Scott was in a secluded area away from any other people and revealed himself.

“Abolish? Wait, I thought you had to be dead by now.” Scott said, curious but thankfully not alarmed. He probably hadn’t actually thought Abolish was dead, which was lucky for him. It meant a lot less weird explaining.

“Not quite yet.” Abolish responded. “I’m going to do something.” He didn’t wait for any confirmation before reaching out and touching Scott’s mark.

A burst of feeling rushed through him at the contact, so he jerked back violently. There were all sorts of weird thoughts rushing through his mind as his brain tried to process the violent change. For one moment he wanted to punch a wall, the next he wanted to kiss Scott. He was suddenly noticing all sorts of things Scott's hair and his clothes and his face. There was so much at once that he ended up paralysed.

Scott was too, just staring at Abolish. He seemed shocked, and rightfully so. He tried to say something, but his mouth just opened and closed. It was the first time Abolish had ever seen him speechless.

“Seriously! You were right there for two hundred years and we just figured it out!” He said, half angry, half amused.

“Yeah.” Abolish’s voice was shaky. “I’m surprised we never touched each other while we were in Oakhurst.”

“Touched each other?” Scott questioned. Maybe he didn’t know as much as Abolish hoped.

“Physical contact triggers the, the… this.” Abolish couldn’t find the right words at that moment, so he gestured to himself and Scott. He hoped it was self explanatory.

“You had me at arms distance with a sword the entire time. I guess you were just that good at fighting.” Scott said. He was right, Abolish was always so careful to stay away from vampires to avoid being injured or turned right up to the end. And then it was Legs that bit him, not Scott.

“I guess I was.” Abolish agreed. There was a long moment of silence, both of them just trying to process the situation.

“What do we do now?” Scott said. He sounded thoroughly lost. Abolish was feeling lost too.

“I don’t know. I have no experience with soulmate stuff, I only knew it existed because of my father and he didn’t really tell me anything beyond what it was and how to activate it.” Abolish admitted.

“Can I see your mark?” Scott asked. Abolish obliged, pulling at the edge of his collar until it was visible. Scott silently inspected it for a moment, before moving. He shifted forward slightly, then jerked back for no apparent reason.

“Are you alright?” Abolish asked. He wasn’t really sure what he expected as an answer, it was a weird situation.

“I really want to kiss you and it’s fucking with my brain.” That wasn’t exactly what Abolish expected, but he would by lying if he said he didn’t feel the same. He just wasn’t letting himself think about it in case he did something stupid.

Unfortunately, he was thinking about it now. About Scott’s lips and fangs and tongue. Things he had never even considered thinking about. He would be disgusted by Scott’s admission five minutes ago, but now all Abolish wanted to do was pin him down and kiss him until he could taste nothing but him.

Before he could do anything, Scott made the first move. As soon as their lips met, Abolish was done for. He gripped Scott's shirt hard, forcing him to get impossible closer. Every part of their bodies aligned perfectly, their lips like a puzzle. Abolish knew somewhere in his mind that it was weird, it was artificial, that he didn’t really want it, but something new and animalistic had taken over.

Scott jumped back suddenly, almost making Abolish fall over. He managed to steady himself against Scott, grabbing right next to his neck. He hated that they weren’t touching as much now, wanting to force them back together again.

“Sorry… That was weird.” Scott said. He sounded unsure. A little more sense was coming back to Abolish now, and he had to say he felt the same way.

“Agreed.” Abolish said. There was another long pause.

“Imagine what’s going to happen when Shelby finds out about this.” Scott said with a smile.

“I don’t particularly want to.” Abolish said, only half joking.

“Alright.” Scott said. God he was pretty. How had Abolish just noticed? He was staring, he realised. Scott was staring too, he noticed a moment later. Their eyes met, and Abolish was content to just admire Scott’s fiery, blood red eyes.

He knew somewhere that he hated it, but that part was dwarfed by how much new affection Abolish was feeling. He was going to come to his senses later, probably as soon as he got away from Scott, and would want to murder someone. For now, he could just let himself drink in the wonderful new feelings.
