You and your team get sent to Sunagakure, the hidden village in the sand. It was just a month or two after the chunin exams and after the first time your team saw the team from the sand village. They were incredibly strong and and when in the forest they took your scrolls in no time-

The fight was surprisingly long nonetheless and you might have even won…if it wasn’t for a certain boy. He was cocky and had dark purple paint on his face and clothes that made him look like a cat with the way the hood sat on his head. He chose you as his target separating you from the others. You fought with him for an hour at least but you’ve never seen anything like his power nor someone as strong as he was. You felt stupid fighting him. You kept getting distracted, whether it was one of your team yelling or just the way his smirk made your heart race slightly more just before another hit flung you into a tree. You groaned loudly as you stood up, jumping up straight into the maze of tree branches trying to get away from the stupid puppet.
You found a spot to hide in the trees and catch your breath watching your team members from afar, ones already out cold and the other is bloody. Damn it you think to yourself of course they would fail it’s not like they even wanted to pass this damn test in the first place.
Your other team member goes down and they take the scroll from him…you knew you should have been the one to hold it but he was begging and wouldn’t even move from the entry till you told the people to give it to him. Now you had to find two scrolls by yourself as you dragged they two dumbasses with you
You’re still hiding but you can’t hide the feeling of bloodlust you felt towards your team at that time and that might have been the thing that gave you away as the puppeteer landed in front of you. You don’t flinch nor even react just glancing at him before standing up as you go back to death staring at your teammates. He starts to look confused as you walk towards him muttering swears and other things under your breath. You walk right past him and flip to the underside of the tree branch you’re on before dropping straight down head first
At first he gasps and he runs to the edge of the tree branch to look down
You go soaring head down past all the tree branches before flipping mid air and landing on your feet blocking the sand village team from your team. You’re bloody and look worse than both of your teammates combined and yet you’re still standing.
“You got the scroll so just leave us alone” you mutter staring at the two people in front of you, a short red haired boy and a taller blond woman
The girl laughs slightly before taking her fan out ready to strike again. You brace yourself ready for anything…
But nothing comes but a small whoosh of air and the sound of someone landing in front of you
“Come on guys we have the scroll let’s just leave, no need to waste energy on her” his voice is aloof and he is acting completely nonchalant as he starts to walk off. The other two sigh and follow him
You open your eyes and your body gives out and you crumble to the ground, looking to the sand village team walking away
And then your vision goes black
Yeah maybe a small nap would help
The boy looks back as they walk away only to see you passed out on the ground. He doesn’t understand why but he feels almost bad about it but he continues to go on.
The rest of the story is a blur after you woke up.
You grabbed your teammates and took off to find other teams in search of their scrolls, it was down to the last day and you had finally gotten the scrolls and made it to the middle. Your team being of no help and stayed passed out the whole time
You didn’t really see the sand village team the rest of the exam and unsurprisingly you passed as your teammates didn’t.

You stood at the entrance to the sand village with a new team but the same leader. The two new teammates were pretty good in fights but due to the fact that they were dating made it insufferable for you on long missions. You were making your way into the village amazed at everything inside as you wandered around since you got to the village two days early. Your mission wasn’t ready yet, so your leader decided to let the team wander around. You branched off at some point and continued to stare up and around with a wide smile at the new environment.
It was starting to get dark and you found yourself lost in the maze of buildings
“Idiot” you whisper to yourself as you continue to walk as the sun goes down
The walk was getting tiresome as you dragged your feet now walking with your eyes closed which was fine till you hit something solid with a thump and a small shocked gasp as you stumble back a bit
“What the hell” you mumble to yourself as you opened your eyes and looked forwards only to be met with a familiar face with purple paint smudged on
“Oh-I-…” you felt your face flush slightly but you didn’t understand why you didn’t even know this guy all that well and let alone the last time you met he beat your ass…it was most likely the smirk plastered on his face as he stared down at you most likely holding back a laugh as you freeze.
“What a surprise seeing you here” he says as he circles you slowly with his hands in his pockets
You turn with him as he circles you keeping your eyes on him and your mouth slightly open still unsure of what to say.
“You look lost” he says bluntly as he stops in front of you again
You look away and decide to make a defensive wall
“Well I’m not. I know where I am I’m just…” you pause and look around as it’s now basically pitch black if it wasn’t for the few lights
“I’m just on a stroll before going to my room” you finish as strongly as you can. Damn now is not a good time to be afraid of the dark
He laughs and turns around away from you.
“Okay! Well good luck then” he calls out as he starts to walk away smirking to himself knowing that he’s right and that you are lost.
You look up shocked admittedly as he just walks away turning down an alley
“HE-HEY! Wait! Don’t just leave me! It’s too dark!!” You yell as you chase after him and speed into the alley before slamming into someone again and of course it’s him holding you up this time so you don’t fall and that stupid self absorbed smirk back on his face wider this time
“Man you really just can’t stay away from me”
You push off him and stand crossing your arms
“That’s not…that’s not true i just…don’t” you pause again, man you really don’t know why it’s so hard to get words out around this guy just talk normally
“I don’t like the dark let along being alone in the dark” you finish and step and turn away slightly from him
You hear him chuckle before starting to walk down the alley again and nodding for you to follow him which you waste no time doing as you stick close to him in the dark alley
The walk was mostly peaceful and quiet and soon you’re back on the main path where it lights up and the noise of people comes back. You expect for this boy to just drop you off once you get on the path but instead he continues to guide you through the crowds of people
“Kankuro…”
You look up at him in confusion
“That’s my name” he looks down at you still walking
“Kankuro” you whisper to yourself so you remember
“..nice to formally meet you”
You tell him your name and move to walk beside him instead of slightly behind.
It was quite for a bit longer well quite until your stomach growled and he get a bit dizzy only now remembering you haven’t eaten anything in almost two days due to your teammates who stole your food stash so they could have a picnic on the way to the sand village
You make an audible “bleh” as you stop walking to try and regulate the discomfort in your guts
Kankuro stops and looks behind him and this time he can’t hold the laughter that creeps up
“Damn when’s the last time you ate something!” Though his attitude doesn’t stay amused much longer as his stomach growls too and now it was time for you to laugh
Kankuro looks around the area and sees a restaurant he frequently visits when in the area and before you can refuse he grabs your wrist and starts to drag you to the door of the restaurant
“Hey! Wait!” You say as he pulls you into the place in front of him and guides you to the counter only to then see his older sister and younger brother already sitting at the counter and he stops surprised to see them
The older blond girl gets up and smiles loudly exclaiming
“Ah! I see you found her after all! And taking her to dinner already~ what a scandal Kankuro” she teases him as she grabs you pulling you to the counter and into a seat next to her
“I’m Temari and this is Gaara. I’m happy to see you again and this time not in a fight” she nudges you before evil eyeing Kankuro with a smile that tells her whole plan to Kankuro
“So I see you passed the exam, good job” she winks at you and you relax a bit and smile softly which makes Kankuro turn away before appearing in the seat next to you
“Yeah I ended up carrying the team around while I got the scrolls from other teams and then finally dragging them to the middle just before the days were over” you sigh exhausted as your body remembers the pain and you slump in the seat slightly eyes closing softly
“You guys really know how to kick ass though…my team was out for three days straight and i woke up a few hours into the second day haha” you laugh softly before sitting up in the chair and looking towards the menu
The night continues and the conversation continues steadily. surprisingly temari doesn’t hear Kankuro talking almost at all, only talking when someone talks to him or asks him something which mostly consisted of you asking him about how the puppets worked or what the team did after getting the scrolls from your team
The conversation was like you knew these people for years and you felt happy to talk to them and they even apologized about the exam but you brushed it off and told them that if you were stronger you would’ve done the same thing. It felt nice to actually be able to talk to someone for once as the people in your village tend to forget about you at times.
You had finished your food and went to pay along with your new friends as Kankuro followed behind you. Yall all set down money but before you can Kankuro pays for you and himself the. Before letting you protest he starts dragging you out of the restaurant leading it to be just him again.
By the end of the meal he had lightened up and had started talking normally once more growing cocky and annoying
He pulled you by your wrist out into the crowd only stopping to sigh slightly once out of view of the restaurant before he starts to walk again still holding your wrist
You being more comfortable with him now after the dinner move your hand to settle into his as he continues to guide you through the busy path.
After a few minutes you look up at him and notice his face paint has smudged even more and you giggle softly not being about to stop, you reach up with your sleeve and wipe his face where it was smudged making the line cleaner and sharp.
He stops walking and stares down at you surprised and you look up at him still giggling softly
Though it doesn’t last long
Your smile falters slightly realizing that maybe you over stepped a line and even if you think of him and his siblings as friends he maybe doesn’t
“I-I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have done that…”
You pull your hand from his grip and back up a bit trying to bring the smile back to your face and change the subject quickly
He reaches for your hand again, still not saying anything he looks around before grabbing your hand and pulling you off once more this time in a rush. You end up in a small quiet space between two buildings. Unsure of what to do or what he’s thinking you start to apologize again.
“I’m really sorry I wasn’t thinking” you continue to ramble on staring at his face as your eyes flicker to the spot you touched and your hand remembers the warmth of his face
“…I’m not mad at you…” he speaks up finally and you look to the side before his hand gently guides your head back to look at him
“I just got…I was just surprised. I didn’t think you would do that people don’t normally touch me…” he says and looks away releasing your face and giving you some space and it’s only when he steps back do you realize how close he was to you before
You look at him In silence for awhile and he moves his back to the wall and slides down looking up at the stars and a soft blush on his cheeks though the paint covers it mostly
“Thank you for paying for my dinner…I’ll pay you back sometime and I won’t touch you again without your consent” you say softly as you slide down the wall opposite of him into a sitting position and looking up at the stars with him
“No need…for any of that” he says looking back at you
You smile softly and move your gaze back to him
You sit there with him for a bit longer before you both get up and he walks you all the way to your room your team leader rented for you

You unlock the door and sigh in relief finally not being lost anymore as you drop your bags and run into the room leaving the door wide open and Kankuro stands at the doorway surprised by the burst of energy you got when you run straight into the room and map the whole place in only a few seconds before diving into the bed and bouncing a bit a few times before giggling as your body relaxes
“ahaha! This is so cool! It’s so much bigger than my place and this bed is so comfy!!” You squeal softly as you spread out on the bed. Your shirt rides up slightly and shows off more of your skin
Kankuro just watches from the doorway
“Don’t just stand there! Come in! Make yourself at home” you say sitting up and watching him timidly walk in before closing the door and setting his stuff down before leaning back on the table before getting his confidence back and the smirk comes back to his face
“This is big to you?” He smirks before walking around the place
You look at him confused
“Well duh my whole place is the size of this one room with a small kitchen and a bathroom/sento attached to the whole building that the whole building uses” you get up from the bed and walk closer to Kankuro
“Pfft please this whole place is the size of just my room it’s huge” he shoves his hands into his pockets and smirks down at you
“Well then I guess I’ll just have to see it someday but for now I’m going to get ready for bed and take a shower so you can stay if you want, make yourself comfortable…and maybe wash your face so you don’t keep smudging purple on your face” you wink at him before grabbing night clothes and disappearing into the bathroom
He watches you walk away and he slouches against the table
“Damn it what am I even doing in here I should have left the moment she get the door open…fuck..” he groans and moves to the bed plopping down with a thud staring up at the ceiling
This isn’t like him, to be so nervous and stupid about a girl…a girl he met a few months ago kicked her ass and now somehow became friends with only hours before, and now laying in her bed as she takes a shower.
He can’t help it but feel hot as he remembers what you are doing which makes him groan and stand from the bed walking to the sink he starts washing his face off trying to calm down and get a fucking grip on his life
“You just fucking met her man you don’t even know anything about her…besides-“ he dries his face and realizes that he knows a lot about you just from the talk in the restaurant. That pisses him off more. He looks up and throws the hand towel onto the counter before laying back in the bed with his arms crossed above his head, eyes closed and face clear.
You on the other hand are in the shower cleaning up and all you can think of is how there’s a guy in your room, a hot one in fact. Something you never thought would happen to you and how fast you’ve become friends with his siblings. Full on delulu energy as you let the water run down your body. You exit the shower and grab your towel flipping through the clothes you brought trying to find your sleep shorts only to realize they weren’t there. You finish drying off and put your sleep shirt on that goes down to mid thigh long enough to hide the fact you don’t have panties or shorts on.
You exit the bathroom with your hair up in the towel. You walk to your bag of stuff near the bed and realize Kankuro is resting on the bed you try and keep your eyes down to the floor to get your bag and pull on some shorts but your body deceives you
Your eyes trail from the end of the bed and up his body, his shirt is ride up and you can see the start of a happy trail peaking out from the edge of his pants and you force yourself to continue up with your eyes almost mesmerized by the boy in your bed and gladly surprised when you see a clear face almost hidden by his hood your hands move from your bag to start reaching for him. To just touch his hair or move his hood…feel his skin, his warmth…
Your hands are inches away, that’s when you realize his eyes are on you and that smirk is back with a soft tint of red on his face
You freeze in place as you retract your hands and opt to pull your shirt down lower trying to hide your exposed skin
“H-hey” you choke out as you crouch down next to your bag to search through it to find the sleep shorts to slip them on
“Hey” he says nonchalantly as he sits up peering down at you from the bed and watches you quickly pull on a pair of shorts
“?? You didn’t bring those with you?” He comments as he looks down to your legs and how the shirt covers the shorts
“Anyways what were you looking at just now~” he falls back down into the bed smirking as he raises his arms back above his head and his shirt rides up again and you realize he’s doing it on purpose this time
You look to the ground trying to think of an excuse before looking back at him and a light bulb goes off in your head
“Y-your face…there’s no paint” you look up and smile softly as you finally get a better look
Damn he’s cute even without the face paint I wish I could just…
Without thinking you reach out and cup his cheek softly, your thumb running over his cheek where the paint used to be.
He freezes and his face goes serious, his arms slowly go down as he sits up, eye level with you now
You look at him, eyes soft, your hand trails back and guides his hood off, your body leans forward face inches from his
He can’t help but lean forward
Your noses touch and your lips follow after. It’s slow and curious, your lips mold against his moving slowly, methodically
Your knees hit the bed and his hands find your waist guiding you into the bed as he leans back, his head hits the pillow softly as you continue to kiss your body settles down on top of his, your hand still on his cheek
His tongue finds its way into your mouth pushing and pulling against your tongue, exploring your mouth, every crevice, curve, and surface all mapped out
It was getting hard to breathe and you pull away for the first time since he met your lips
You gasp for air as you sit up slightly and regulate your breathing
He’s looks up at you slightly dazed and more than attracted to you as you close your eyes getting your breath back to normal
His hands rub your sides softly trying to coax you to look at him again
He tells himself it’s because he wants to see you out of breath because of him…not because he’s scared. Scared that when you look back down at him you might pull back and regret it
He needs your approval, even if he doesn’t feel like admitting it anytime soon
He rubs your sides slightly harder this time in a last ditch effort to get you to look at him without using words
It works. You look down at him from above, your face is completely red and your eyes although half lidded are filled with something electric. Your hands slides off his cheek and hides your face from him as you lay down basically across him
Your legs over his hanging off the side of the bed, your side laying on the part of the bed closes to the wall and your chest pressed to his side, hands covering your bright red face as you make a strangled sound mumbling apologies and other nonsense that he can’t make out with your hands covering your face
“Look at me…” he whispers his hand moving from your side to your wrist gently pulling your hands down
You look at him finally and he sighs in relief
He looks nervous, his face is red and he’s only just now got his breath back under control. You haven’t seen him like that before. It made you want to kiss him again and take away the worry that you see
“It’s weird…to think I only officially met you hours ago and now I’m laying down with you staring at your face…” he mumbles and caresses your cheek he wants to say that he couldn’t stop thinking of you ever since their fight in the exam, how guilty he felt when he walked away even after watching you drop to the ground how stupid he’s been since that fight in trying to get any mission he can to the leaf village and how lucky he is to find that you came to his
He doesn’t speak though
Not yet at least he just stares at you, with a bare face and a soft smile, turning to his side to face you
You on the other hand can’t seem to realize that it’s a pretty good time to just shush for once but you can’t help it and it comes out before you get to think about what it means
“I’ve been thinking about you since the chunin exam…you are amazing…i honestly didn’t even care that you beat me” you pause and giggle before pulling yourself closer to him
“Honestly I couldn’t keep my head in the game with the way you were looking at me with that stupid smirk…” you admit into his chest with a smile as you feel his arms wrap around you
He feels like he’s on cloud nine in this moment, his body molds against yours as he pulls you as close as possible in embarrassment but his cocky side can’t help but pop out as he whispers in your ear
“I was thinking of you too”
