Chapter Text
No one POV –
Sky Wongrovi’s Family Mansion
“What the hell are you saying right now? You expect me to accept this nonsense and ruin my life just to protect things I’ve never benefited from?”
“How dare you speak to your father like that, you ungrateful brat?”
Before he could react, a sharp slap landed across his face.
Sky stood there in the middle of his father’s mansion, having been called in by his mother. She had told him she wanted to talk about something important. He hadn’t suspected anything—usually she preferred meeting him at a café or somewhere outside—but she insisted he come home this time. So he did… only to be slapped by his father.
Let’s rewind a bit.
After receiving his mother’s call, Sky left his company immediately and headed home.
A knock echoed at the door.
His mother rushed to open it herself instead of letting a maid do it, which struck Sky as unusual—but he ignored the feeling and greeted her.
“I’m here.”
“Oh my God, Sky, thank you for coming.”
“Did something happen? Mom… what is it? You look nervous,” he asked.
“It’s nothing, honey. Your father is waiting for you.”
“What the hell? Didn’t you say you wanted to talk?”
“Sky, speak to your mother properly.”
His father’s voice came from behind them—strong, controlling, and just as arrogant as ever. Nothing had changed.
Sky apologized briefly to his mother and followed his father to the office, walking slowly, already sensing that something was off.
“Fine. I’m listening,” Sky said.
His father began, “I know we’ve never seen eye to eye, but frankly, I don’t care about your opinion. You know Hirunkit Chenkhakam, right?”
“Yes. What about him?”
“We have a very important deal with him.”
“You mean you do. Not me. I don’t care about your business.”
“You will starting today. If you ruin my reputation, I’ll ruin you—and you know I can. That deal I gave you? I’ll pull it, and you know exactly what that loss would cost you.”
“What the hell? Is that deal really that important? More important than your own son’s life?”
“What do you want from me, then?”
“Good. That’s my son,” his father said with a smile that carried nothing but bad intentions. “Now let’s talk seriously.”
“Our families will be officially tied together. That means… marriage.”
Sky laughed. “So you want to marry him and need me to convince Mom?”
His father smiled wider. “Not me, Sky. You.”
Sky’s smile disappeared instantly.
“You’re joking,” he said, unable to hide his shock. “You’re not seriously asking me to destroy my life and bind me in a fake marriage with a woman I don’t even know?”
“You’re mistaken, Sky. It’s not a woman. It’s a man—just like you.”
Something inside Sky collapsed.
“Forget it. Just forget you even have a son.”
“Don’t forget—I can destroy you.”
“Damn it, I’m your son! I’ve never had anything from you, and now that I’m finally free, you want to trap me in something this ridiculous? I never wanted this life!”
“I don’t care. Don’t try to argue. You’re marrying him.”
“…Damn it. I’ve never hated you as much as I do right now.”
Sky stormed out of the mansion, cursing under his breath, unable to process what had just happened. He returned to his company, entered his office, and dropped his head onto the desk, trying to think.
Until Tai walked in.
“Yo, my friend, what’s with the miserable face?”
“I’m not in the mood for jokes. Can you not, Tai?”
“Alright, alright. What’s going on?”
“My father is trying to marry me off. And guess what? To a guy I’ve never even met. Of course, he’s the son of some big businessman.”
“Seriously? Well… maybe it’s about time you settled down. You’re a mess, Sky. Sleeping with whoever, barely eating or drinking properly… I’m surprised you won’t drop dead before forty.”
“That’s not helping, Tai.”
“I’m your friend. I have to warn you.”
“Then let me die in peace. I’ve got work.”
Later that night, after finishing what he could, Sky went to a club… and somehow ended up in bed with a woman he didn’t even know.
The next morning, he woke up with a splitting headache. He got dressed without even glancing at her, left some money on the table as usual, and walked out.
Then his phone rang—his father.
“What do you want now?”
“I want you to meet him. Your future husband. Tonight. I’ll send you the address. Don’t be late.”
Sky lost count of how many times he cursed his father after that.
Bangkok Hospital
“Hirunkit, you have a critical surgery in a few minutes. Are you ready?”
“Yes, sir. Don’t worry, I’ll be there.”
“I know, son. I trust you.”
Nani headed straight into the operating room. Despite it not being his first surgery, he felt tense—this patient was important to him. He visited her daily. She was kind… maybe she reminded him of his late mother.
After hours, the surgery ended successfully.
“Oh God… I was scared.”
He went straight to the restroom and cried quietly until he noticed someone there—it was Prem, a kind nurse who felt like a younger sister to him. She hugged him and reassured him.
“Thank you, Prem… I think I needed that.”
“We all do, Nani. You did great.”
He laughed softly and hugged her again. “Thanks, my little sister.”
Then his phone rang.
“It’s my dad… I have to take this.”
Moments later, he was already on his way to his father’s mansion.
He had never felt like he belonged there. It was cold, empty… his mother had died there—lonely and unloved. He never wanted that kind of life.
So he worked hard on his own. No scandals, no trouble, no extra expenses. He supported himself, studied hard, earned a scholarship—everything without his father’s help.
He had friends, attended events when required… and that’s where he first saw Sky.
Sky was kind. Respectful… or at least that’s how he seemed.
Nani had never fallen in love before—but the moment he met Sky and was helped by him… he did.
Deeply.
But he knew Sky liked women. So he stepped back. Loved him from afar. And that was enough.
Or so he thought.
Back to the present
Nani walked toward his father’s office, unaware of what was waiting for him.
Would his love for Sky remain just a shadow…
or would their impossible relationship finally begin?
