Hunting Down Your Love

Summary:

Midoriya knew life wasn't fair.

It hadn't been fair when he was eighteen, and it wasn't fair now that he was twenty-one, still an unmarked omega that's never been picked in the yearly tradition of a Mating Run.

Omegas all around participated, and yet, Midoriya was never chosen. Now was just another year, another year of participating in the stupid event, just to be left with no mate yet again. Midoriya was getting older, and he's sure no one was going to pick him.

"One", was probably where he messed up...considering he now had an entire PACK of alphas after his heart.

But...he's a little oblivious to see those signs.

Chapter 1: Doubt

Chapter Text

There was a harsh reality that not everyone wanted to face.

"You're getting up there! Already in your twenties and no courting yet?"

"Have you ever considered joining a family? Maybe you can be the 'other' wife! Help out with the children, you know? That way you can have an alpha while you're young."

"Aren't you a bit old to be unmated?"

Everyone wanted a young mate. Every beta, every alpha that was eligible for the mating run, they wanted to pursue someone "fresh", new, exciting.

Midoriya…Just wasn't that.

He was used to it. It wasn't anything new for Midoriya to be the outcast, the person that blended into the background. He and his mother lived a simple life, and were never really incorporated into village life as others were. They lived a little ways away from it, and even then, the village they were a part of was so insignificant compared to the rest of the kingdom.

Midoriya always wanted to travel and explore, but his mother and lack of resources to pursue such a thing left Midoriya stuck with catering to the village people.

Oh. And probably the fact that he was an omega.

Anywhere he went, he was to wear a collar. It was to not only show his omega status, but show to any alpha or beta interested that he was unmarked and unmated. This way, it would be easier for alphas looking for mates to pinpoint who they wanted to start courting before the Omega Run came around every year.

Oh how he wished for a nice alpha or beta. He wished for love, but with how his value was decreasing every year, he could only hope to just live peacefully. He wanted to find an alpha or beta that would allow him to travel with them, but now he was just hoping to be chosen at all.

Even his mother was getting a little worried. She worried about a future for him, especially when courting season began. There were no kinds of hints, no clear indication of courting whatsoever.

"I hear Katsuki-kun is going to be back in town for a little while," Inko tried to cheer him up.

Midoriya hummed, still poking at his food. He had to admit that he liked Kacchan and his friends, but they (at least, what he heard of them through his mom, who got it from Auntie Mitsuki) were all just a bit younger than Midoriya thought he should hang out with. He babysat Kacchan, so he felt like he shouldn't try to include himself in his circle.

Still, he also felt a little bitter that the alpha was able to do as he pleased, to travel where he wanted. The alpha up and left as soon as he turned eighteen, spending the year wandering the world. Somewhere deep inside Midoriya wanted to beg Kacchan to participate in the Omega Run that year and claim Midoriya as a 'fake mate'. Midoriya wanted him to so they could both travel together, but when Kacchan left, Midoriya lost what hope he had to get out of the small village.

Alphas and Betas weren't forced to participate in mating runs. It was so they wouldn't be forced to be 'weighed down' by anything. They could participate at will, and even participate multiple times if they wanted. Unmated alphas and betas, however, got a head start so they could get a better chance of winning an omega.

Oh how Midoriya envied Kacchan.

"I think Mitsuki mentioned in her letter that he was planning on traveling to join the Omega Run," Inko mentioned.

How embarrassing it was going to be if Kacchan saw him there. What would he think? Maybe he would laugh at Midoriya for still being unmated, or maybe he'd act like he didn't exist.

"I hope he finds someone," Midoriya replied. He was genuine with his words, actually hoping that the alpha would at least get a better ending than Midoriya was likely going to get.

"Maybe we should stop by soon! Mitsuki said he should be in town for the week before the ceremony! Maybe you can ask to travel with him instead of having to arrive with the other omegas," Inko smiled.

Midoriya frowned, "I thought dad would be able to take me." Normally, it was custom for the alpha or beta of the household to bring their omega child to the ceremony as a sort of 'parting' ceremony. It was a way for the sire to hand over "ownership" of the omega. If circumstances made it so they were unable to, a carriage was sent to each town by Yueii's knights. It was how Midoriya travelled every year since he was eighteen, with it being four years, but now it was getting embarrassing at this point. He would rather just arrive and get it over with.

"Your father can't bring you this year. He's too busy," Inko's smile was strained.

Midoriya took notice of her phrasing "this year" as if she was almost certain Midoriya wasn't going to be picked that year, either. She was probably right, but the implication still didn't sting any less.

"I wouldn't want to ruin his ceremony experience," Midoriya mumbled, "It wouldn't be fair to force him to go out of his way."

Inko didn't directly reply to it, but Midoriya understood it as a silent agreement. "It would still be nice to visit," she changed the topic once more.

'I'd rather die,' Midoriya thought to himself. He would want to see Kacchan again under different circumstances, but Midoriya just felt so horrible about himself and where he was in life. Knowing how great Kacchan was doing for himself right now…Midoriya would rather not face the reality that he might never be able to leave his village and that Kacchan would be living the life Midoriya could only dream of.

Not to mention how obvious it would be that Midoriya was unclaimed and unmated if Kacchan saw his collar. It would be another mark for Kacchan to piece together that Midoriya wasn't staying in the village willingly; unmarked and unmated omegas needed permission from their alpha or beta mates to travel. This was mainly for 'concern' for omegas, not wanting unmated ones 'wandering around' because of "the temptation".

Midoriya hated it.

"I'll see if I'm busy," Midoriya made a half hearted attempt to placate his mother and end the conversation.

Thankfully it did, but the only issue was that Midoriya forgot about it.

"Izuku!" His mother cheered from behind him. Midoriya half-turned, busy mixing together ingredients for a healing ointment for their shop. He hummed in question, not really wanting to deviate all of his focus to her. "Are you all caught up?" She asked, "You're not going to be busy tomorrow, are you?"

Half listening, Midoriya shook his head, "No. I mean— I should be set for the week, ready so you'll be okay to run the shop when I'm away." He blended the ingredients into a smoother texture, "I can go grab more herbs tomorrow if you need them." He agreed easily, knowing that his mother didn't quite like going out into the forest. She was an omega like him, but she wasn't nearly as big.

It was another reason Midoriya knew he wasn't and wouldn't be picked. He wasn't short and petite like an omega would be, but rather tall and wide, more like an alpha. Though he wasn't nearly as muscular as one's dream alpha might be, and definitely way too out of shape for one as well. It was no secret that Midoriya was on the a-bit-more-than-chubby side, but it was embarrassing to think that both his height and weight were probably obvious factors that he wasn't meant to have a mate.

He was taller than most alphas, after all, and what kind of alpha would want a taller omega?

He always knew he was bigger than average, but it didn't really get out of hand until high school neared. Kacchan noticed his height, and mentioned something about surpassing him in height one day, but Midoriya didn't really think it was possible. Midoriya felt like a giant, and it was always so horrible, feeling so exposed all the time. People would stare, children would point as if Midoriya couldn't notice.

"Oh great! I'll let Mitsuki know!" Inko beamed, already off to write a note and send it off with a pigeon before Midoriya could protest.

"I—" Midoriya could only sputter out a syllable before he found himself speechless.

Oh great, Midoriya thought before he reached to the side to grab a quill off of the table, writing himself a note of what herbs he needed to actually pick out. He needed them anyway, and maybe that way he could feign sickness tomorrow, telling his mother that he caught something while he was out.

Unfortunately, the only issue with that plan was that Midoriya actually caught something.

His mother fretted over him after she closed the shop by herself that day, hovering around his bed like a bee to honey. "I'm fi—" Midoriya tried, but had to cut himself off with a coughing fit, "I'm fine," he reattempted, "It's just fatigue, coughing, sore throat, and headaches…and aches."

Still, his mother worried like no other, making an attempt to fluff up his pillows for him if not to make his nest a bit more comfortable. He groaned, already knowing that she would be relentless until he was better. Midoriya had to eventually stop her from making a pointless trip to town to get him something she thought he needed.

"Mom," he called, immediately making her stop tugging on her coat so she could tend to him. Midoriya smiled, huffing out a laugh, "I'll be fine. I can just sleep it off, you know. Go see Auntie Mitsuki and tell her I said hello."

It was reluctant, but eventually she did leave. She even gathered some of the things she made especially for the Bakugo family, and Midoriya wished he would've been able to see Uncle Masaru's face when his mom brought the bread she baked especially for the occasion.

One bigger problem, however, was what his mom returned with.

"Oh Izuku! This is so exciting!"

Midoriya looked at the basket full of lavish gifts, pausing at the sheer amount of things that were carefully picked out. His mom found it on their doorstep, along with a note that had been slightly torn. It cut off some words, some of which were probably important for knowing who exactly this was meant to go to. Berries, breads, beads, jewelry, Nesting items, and some lovely gloves, hat, and a scarf…it was obviously meant to be a courting gift.

And his mother was ecstatic as she paced the living room.

"Mom—" he attempted to cut her off, but couldn't do anything to pierce her excited rambling.

"And there are so many things! So many expensive gifts as well! So bold for a first gift. Unless you received others that you haven't told me about. But why wouldn't you tell me? It's obvious that this alpha really cares—"

"Mom!" He interrupted harshly. Finally, she looked over. "There is no alpha," he admitted, a bit saddened himself with the news, "It's likely that this was just sent to the wrong person."

His mother hesitated, but eventually let out a quiet, deflated, "Oh."

Filled with shame, Midoriya pushed the basket aside, barely glancing over the note that simply read, "Please enjoy." Midoriya didn't quite know any young omega that wasn't being courted (aside from the few that rejected advances in hopes they would be picked by a rich alpha outside of their village), but he also knew that there were some new alphas visiting town. It's possible that they got mixed up, so Midoriya would likely have to go hunt down the alpha that gifted it or the omega that was supposed to receive it.

While he was at it, he supposed he could do some trading and then check on some traps he set. Hopefully his condition wouldn't worsen. He knew his mother counted on him for a lot of things, and he felt bad that she had to scrape together a soup for lunch since Midoriya was supposed to get more food today.

"I'll ask around tomorrow," Midoriya mumbled, looking down at the letter once more, "Maybe some could tell me a name that starts with 'Sh'." Midoriya was sure it had to be one of the newer alphas in town. It also scared him with the fact that UA's own knights in training were allowed to roam the villages, scouring them for a potential omega. Omegas in UA were important in keeping alphas and betas level-headed.

Midoriya just hoped that Kacchan wouldn't be in the village tomorrow. He knew wherever the blond was, it was likely that his friends were. Maybe his lunch with his parents was enough to have him and the other knights move onto the next village.

But oh, Midoriya just hoped that whoever the basket belonged to wasn't from any of them. Midoriya would hate to ruin someone's courting.

The amount of people in the village the next day was as astounding as it was terrifying. Midoriya had to stay glued to the sidelines, green cloak flowing around him as the hood stayed up. He didn't want anyone to point out his collar or draw attention to it. For the village, it would just be a sad reminder of how he's been unchosen for all these years.

"Midoriya!"

He flinched, carefully turning to wave at Hatsume.

"Ah. Hi Hatsume," Midoriya waved, approaching her where she stood near an outdoor food stand. Be knew the pink haired alpha somewhat. Most times she would come by to get treated for burns involving all of the potions and gadgets she tinkered with. Midoriya would always know when she was in town because she would stop by their place to pick up healing supplies. She claimed that despite not being an official apothecary, the Midoriyas were her favorite compared to the places she traveled.

Speaking of…

Hatsume eagerly handed him some kind of plant that he had yet to work with, but he was excited to see when those types of plants didn't tend to grow in the nearby area.

"Gotcha some plants! Hope they're good," Hatsume grinned. The pink haired alpha knew that Midoriya couldn't travel outside of the village, so as a sort of partial payment, Hatsume started to bring him plants from her travels. She claimed she knew how difficult it was to work with limited resources, and how boring it became when there wasn't something knew to discover.

"They're perfect!" Midoriya smiled down at the alpha, "They're gonna be great for all of my tests."

Hatsume nodded, ready to ask him a question, but Midoriya could tell that she paused for a moment when she cast her eyes down for a second. "What's all that for?"

The omega paused, stopping to look down at what was on his other hand. "Oh! Actually maybe you could help. I found this, and I wanted to get it back to whoever it's supposed to go to."

Midoriya held out the courting gift basket, letting Hatsume observe its contents. "This is some great stuff! They even put some herbs in there for you."

"It's not for—" Wait. What? He didn't see it before, but there were some herbs scattered around the basket here and there. It was tempting, as was everything else, but Midoriya shook his head, "No, I said it's not mine. I'm trying to figure out who's it is."

Hatsume raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure it's not yours? Where did you find it?"

Hesitantly, Midoriya answered, "In front of my mother's house."

The pink haired alpha threw her hands up, "For someone so smart, you could be so dense. I mean, look at the nesting items! They're green like you."

Midoriya fought back a blush, "There's no way. I don't know anyone who would court me. No one wants the Head Omega in the mating run."

It was also something Midoriya had come to terms with. After last year, the two omegas that were older than him in the mating run were taken by an alpha and beta respectively. With them gone, Midoriya was left as the oldest omega that would be participating in the mating run this year. He received a letter about it a few weeks ago, and he's been feeling horrible ever since. What made it worse is the fact that he would have a special part in the ceremony, so that likely meant Kacchan would for sure know that he was still unmarked and unmated.

Some say it was an honor, but to Midoriya, it felt like a curse.

"Well who's it from?" Hatsume asked, "I do know a lot of alphas from UA that are still unmated, you know." She sent him a grin, trying to make light of the situation.

"That's the thing. The letter got cut off. I'm guessing water dripped from our roof again, and it got on the paper. All I could read is 'S-H.'"

"Hmmm," Hatsume wondered. She took a look at what was left of the note, "I know there was someone named uh…Shindo?…He's kinda straight and to the point. That purple haired alpha with the wild hair." Hatsume gestured vaguely around her own head.

"Ah. Okay," Midoriya answered. He knew the purple haired alpha was the same age as Kacchan and in his class, but he just hoped that Shindo didn't know Kacchan too well. "I'll start there. Thanks, Hatsume!"

Now, if only he knew where to find Shindo.

Finding Shindo, however, seemed to be fruitless.

Midoriya sighed, growing weary at the amount of time he'd taken trying to find out who the basket belonged to. He just didn't get it. Maybe it would be best if he gave in? If he just went to Kacchan himself to ask him to return the basket?

Whatever he needed to do, he should probably decide soon. Maybe he could visit a few more shops, get some items, and loop back to Kacchan's parents' house to hand the basket over to him.

"Achoo!"

Hopefully Midoriya's aching body would make the trip.

Trading some healing items he and his mother made, her baked goods, and Midoriya's small amount of meat he collected from traps kept him busy. He was a one-track mind, so he was so focused on getting things done that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings.

He didn't notice someone staring him down. Not while he was looking at the beautiful nesting materials that he could only dream to afford.

"You need to get some new nesting supplies soon," he could essentially hear his mother nagging in his head, "Your nest is too small, Izuku."

While it was true, Midoriya never wanted to spend the money on new materials. He and his mother were already tight on money as it was, and Midoriya felt as if it was useless to waste the money. He already had a nest with materials. There was no use of getting new ones… After a couple years. And after other omegas have gotten beautiful nesting materials from courting gifts. And after seeing the same beautiful ones in the basket he was holding….

Okay. Maybe one wouldn't hurt. He was still sick, after all, and he did need to wash the clothes and what blankets he had in his nest.

Hesitantly, Midoriya went to pay for the blanket he chose, shamefully pulling his cloak over his head more. An omega buying nesting items for themselves unmarked and unmated? It was embarrassing. And to think he could only buy the small size and the lowest quality. It was still nice, but Midoriya had to admit he would rather take the ones inside of the ba—

"Take that one back. He's getting this one."

Midoriya jolted at the gruff voice, heart pounding with fear at the situation unfolding. Still, Midoriya couldn't find his words to argue even if he wanted to. Not when his breath hitched as soon as he turned to face the guy that gave the shopkeeper the order.

"K-Kacchan?" Midoriya asked, voice breaking while the guy went to put the first blanket aside. Midoriya knew he must've looked a bit silly looking the way he was looking at Kacchan, but he couldn't help it when the alpha just waltzed in like that.

Midoriya eyed the blanket that Kacchan had, dread filling his stomach at the sight of the gorgeous blanket. It was huge and fluffy, a deep maroon color that reminded Midoriya somewhat of the shoes he used to have. It was so nice, so beautiful, but Midoriya couldn't find the words to tell Kacchan that he couldn't afford a blanket like that.

"Um—"

"Why are you getting that one?"

Midoriya jumped, alarmed at the monotone voice om the other side of him. He was surprised to find none other than Todoroki there, someone who attended UA alongside Kacchan. Midoriya's only heard of him; he'd never officially met him.

"I…It's all I can get," Midoriya bashfully admitted.

Kacchan huffed, and Midoriya turned just enough to see him raise an eyebrow, "Well it wouldn't do anything. It's too small for you."

Midoriya nodded quickly in agreement, wishing the earth would eat him whole right then and there. How embarrassing, Kacchan must've noticed the weight he started to pack on.

"Well," Todoroki drawled, "I was asking because he has a lot of nesting materials already." The dual haired alpha made a gesture to point at the basket that Midoriya held, and the omega was glad to have the attention diverted to it.

"Oh yeah!" He turned around and held it to Kacchan, "I was wondering if you knew where Shindo was? Hatsume said you might know him."

"Shin—What? Did he give you this?" Kacchan's face turned red, Midoriya wasn't sure why, but he allowed the shorter male to take the basket and observe its contents.

"Well I don't know," Midoriya explained, "I saw the note. It said 'S-H'. I couldn't read the rest. I'm trying to find him to give it back." He willed himself not to sneeze or sniffle, or to show how dry his throat was, but it was proving to be difficult.

At his explanation, Kacchan scoffed with a grin, shoving the basket back to Midoriya and straightening out his back. He didn't hesitate as he puffed out his chest. Huh. Maybe Kacchan didn't like Shindo? Or maybe whoever Shindo was trying to court was also competing against Kacchan. He must be glad Shindo is courting someone that Kacchan didn't want. Wait! So that meant that Kacchan already had someone he wanted to court!

Midoriya's eyes lit up, his mouth opening to ask a question, but—

"You…don't like it?"

Midoriya turned once he heard the meek question from Todoroki. Blinking, Midoriya took a moment to get her his words. "I do! It's really nice, but I couldn't keep it. It's for Shindo to give to—"

"The 'S-H' is for Shoto."

"HAH?" Kacchan pulled away from talking to the worker (who Midoriya didn't notice come back) and stomped up to Todoroki, red blanket in hand. "Who the hell do you think you are—"

"Here then!" Midoriya pushed forward, holding the basket to Todoroki. "I don't know how it ended up all the way on that side of the village. Maybe there was a new delivery person…"

Todoroki blinked, not quite being phased by the way Kacchan held his shirt collar. He pointed to the basket, "It's for you."

Midoriya sputtered. "I- you— me? This- Todoroki I— I can't—"

"You were sick, weren't you?" Todoroki asked, "I thought it would help."

Oh. Ohhhh. Okay. That made more sense. It really explained the comfort items in the basket along with the herbs.

Midoriya let out a sigh of relief. How absurd for him to consider for even a second that Todoroki of all people would want to court him. He was probably too old for the younger alpha, anyway.

"How did you know that?" Midoriya couldn't even defend himself out of sheer bewilderment.

"The idiots blab about as much as a pup babbles. This idiot must've heard about you flanking on dinner yesterday from Dumb and Dumber."

"I—achoo!" Midoriya sneezed, the action hurtling his chest from the force of it. He tried not to make a face as he rubbed it, wanting to continue his apology, but he was being tugged away faster than he could form the sentence.

"Come on. I'm bringin ya back home," Kacchan grumbled, but not before stopping their path and halting. Kacchan turned around easily, spreading out the blanket he just bought for himself and tip-toeing to drape it around Midoriya's shoulders.

Midoriya messed with the fabric between his fingers, "Are you sure?"

Kacchan didn't give an answer, but the scoff and eye roll he made was answer enough. All of a sudden, though Kacchan grumbled, "I got the damn thing for you anyway."

Midoriya didn't know what to think of it other than to utter a 'thank you.' Really, he should tell Kacchan that he should be careful about buying something as big as nesting items for an omega he wasn't courting. He would have to save that for later, as he changed the topic.

Midoriya looked to Todoroki. "I noticed you cut your hair kind of short," he pointed out the alpha's new, rougher looking hairstyle. "I really like it."

Midoriya thought he was going blind when he noticed the small smile on Todoroki's face.

"Thank you. I like your hair, it always suits you," Todoroki glanced up behind his hood to get a view of it. Midoriya didn't miss the way his eyes flickered down to his collar, either.

"Considering all your nerd notes, I'm surprised you didn't notice earlier," Kacchan huffed.

"Oh right! I like your hair too, Kacchan! You got it a little shorter, too since you went off to UA. Speaking of, how is it?"

"His temper got a little shorter, too," Todoroki mumbled beside him. Kacchan tried to get to him in a fit of rage, and Midoriya laughed at how Todoroki hid behind Midoriya for protection.

The two bickered back and forth as they talked about their time at UA, and Midoriya had to admit that he was a bit sad and jealous at how much they were able to do out on their own. They only recently turned eighteen, only a year out in the world, and they'd already seen and experienced more than Midoriya would in his lifetime at this rate.

Midoriya just hoped that if they were in town for the mating run, that they would take good care of their omegas. With how they took care of Midoriya while he was sick, well, Midoriya was sure they would be wonderful mates for whoever they picked as their omegas.

After hearing stories of their classmates, some of who Midoriya slightly remembered, he brought it up.

"Are you in town for the mating run? You didn't go last year. You either, Todoroki," Midoriya asked.

"Yes. We are—"

"Oh so you picked someone!" Midoriya smiled, still genuine with his interest and happiness, "I'm surprised! Well not surprised. I mean— you two are very good alphas and you would make whoever you picked as your omegas happy, I'm sure. But— it's kind of hard to think who you would pick if you've been away at UA…"

"We've been traveling," Kacchan reminded, "It's not like we've been stuck at UA for a year."

"Ah! Right," Midoriya dismissed with a cough. He really should be getting inside since he was still sick, but he did want to talk to them. "Would you— I know it's not the best idea to do right now with the mating run and all, but we're far away from the village." He looked at the two alphas, watching their eyes go wide. Maybe doing it was a bad idea, but Midoriya was curious! He only heard tales from rumors and only read news columns of what UA was like. Not to mention, he wanted to catch up with Kacchan! He was being really nice (as nice as he could be) and Midoriya was happy that he didn't acknowledge Midoriya's collar.

Midoriya gestured to the door of the house when they'd walked up the stone path, "Would you two want to come inside? I really want to hear more!" It was surprising with how fast they nodded yes, and Midoriya was happy that they were enjoying his company as well.

Before Midoriya knew it, the sun was setting.

"Oh. Would you want me to walk you back to your place, Kacchan? Todoroki, you…I could walk you to your lodge where you're staying."

Todoroki shook his head, "We're actually staying at a lodge together—"

"Not—! Like that," Kacchan sighed exasperatedly, "The idiots couldn't stay separate as a pack for a full fuckin week so we're traveling together. This shitty village didn't have a big enough lodge so we gotta head to the one the next town over."

Midoriya frowned, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to keep you for that long."

"It's okay. We wanted to make sure you were okay," Todoroki smiled.

Midoriya could only half-heartedly agree, not quite liking the fact that they did so just for his sake. They had others to worry about, after all! They had what sounded like a pack waiting for them, and Midoriya didn't want to get between that. They were good people, and Midoriya didn't want to be viewed as someone too helpless to get done what they needed done. He'd done so much around the house with repairs, hunting, and making products to sell. He especially didn't want to look weak in front of them, even with being slightly sick.

"Well if you're sure, I can at least walk you partially towards the village. I have to do something, anyway," Midoriya dismissed.

"What? We can do it," Kacchan argued.

Midoriya waved a hand as they began to walk out of the house, bidding his mother goodbye. "Just collecting traps," Midoriya explained, a bit proud to briefly mention that he was able to do such a thing, "I won't be out long. I just want to see if I caught what my mother asked for tomorrow's dinner. I have to skin the rest tomorrow."

No matter how much he protested, though, Todoroki and Kacchan followed him to the woods, and Midoriya was happy to show off to the alphas the things he'd caught. Sure, it wasn't anything too grand, especially since he wasn't hunting, but it was enough. He had been too busy for hunting, lately, so he would have to wait until after the mating run.

When they returned to the house, Midoriya had one thing to say to them. He stepped inside to drop off the animals he caught, and his eye caught the blanket and gift basket he was given. He returned back outside to walk them down the path, but left a few parting words as he smiled, "I really hope you guys do catch the omegas your pack are looking for. I appreciate the gifts, I really do, but me being sick is nothing to fuss over." Midoriya put his head down in a bow as a thank you, but kept it down with his next words, "I would be really careful about giving gifts around this time. Someone might think…you know." Midoriya's words got caught in his throat. He really did like how they gave him gifts, how he felt warm when Kacchan bought the blanket for him. It was almost like he was being courted, but Midoriya was sad that something as sweet as that wouldn't happen to him again.

He shook his head to rid his thoughts, turning around so they couldn't see his tears as he walked away with the reminder, "I just don't want anyone getting confused, so be careful with who you give your gifts to."

And oh, if only Midoriya knew what he was getting into when he had said that.
