Work Text:
The song hadn’t even started yet, but Jimmy’s chest already felt heavy. He felt a lump in his throat, but he still forced himself to begin.
I know a place
It’s somewhere I go when I need to remember your face
He heard his voice crack as he sang that line, staring straight and pointing at the camera—hoping Ohm was watching, because this was for him.
We get married in our heads
Something to do whilst we try to recall how we met
Oh, how Jimmy couldn’t forget the first time he met Ohm. That smile Ohm gave when their eyes first met. And Ohm looked so pretty…
So perfect…
So unreachable…
That Jimmy couldn’t help but wonder if he would ever be enough for him.
Do you think I have forgotten?
His memories drifted back to how they got to each other when they joined the reality show. Ohm’s habits. How confident he was in everything he did. How easily Jimmy could make him smile.
He still couldn’t forget their first date on that show—how they spent their first night together. They had so much to talk about that they almost didn’t want to sleep because the conversation felt too good to end.
How they chose each other as partners. How they promised to depend on each other in the future.
Do you think I have forgotten?
Jimmy still remembered how they first worked together on a series. That’s when they became even closer.
He noticed every little thing about Ohm—how he would hold the back of his neck when he was nervous, how he would lower his head sadly when he couldn’t get a scene right, but the moment he looked at Jimmy, there was always determination in his eyes. And because of those little things, Jimmy didn’t even realize he was slowly falling for him.
He admired everything about Ohm.
Do you think I have forgotten about you?
Those sweet moments, on and off camera—Jimmy still couldn’t get them out of his head. Sometimes, he would even imagine them happening all over again. And every time he did, he wished he could just stay trapped in that imagination.
Those times when it felt like they had their own little world, just the two of them—where they felt safe… comforted…
Loved…
Jimmy would trade his life just to feel that kind of affection again. To be loved again.
He tried to suppress his emotions as much as he could while playing the solo on his guitar. He remembered how much Ohm loved watching him play.
How Ohm’s eyes would sparkle whenever he did. How he wished he could see those eyes again.
They tried…
Oh God, they really tried to make it work.
But still…
What went wrong?
All Jimmy knows now is that Ohm is slowly slipping through his fingers. They once promised to choose each other every single day, because that’s what love is. No matter what happens, it’s a choice—to choose your partner every day. In good times and in bad, despite misunderstandings and fights, they would still choose each other anyway.
But somewhere along the way, choosing became heavier, like love was no longer enough to carry the weight of everything left unsaid. The space between them grew in silence, filled with words they were too tired… too afraid to speak. And now Jimmy finds himself holding on to someone who is probably already gone.
But maybe holding on isn’t the answer either. So now, he’ll try to let go.
Let go of the feeling.
Let go of everything… except Ohm.
No matter how much he wants to let go of Ohm, his foolish heart just can’t.
And he thinks he’ll probably live with these lingering memories of him.
He looked up as he played the final note on the guitar.
Then suddenly, he heard footsteps—fast, getting louder. Jimmy suddenly felt a warm embrace.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Ohm,” he whispered softly. And then, the tears he had been holding back finally fell. His shoulders shook with the weight of his emotions, his heart beating wildly.
Jimmy cried as he tried to hug the person back.
But…
All he held was air.
He opened his eyes and looked around, but Ohm wasn’t there.
Fresh tears streamed down his face as he gave a bitter smile.
He hasn’t forgotten.
And he thinks he never will.
