It was a sunny day and Kagamine Len was on a school trip to the library of Alexandria. He really didn’t want to be there. His teacher Meiko was teaching the class and as it was 1:30pm Meiko allowed everyone to walk around freely on the promise that they would return to the lobby at 2:00pm.
Kagamine Len and Fukase went together because they were friends.
“Do you want to know something Fukase?” Kagamine Len asked randomly after a day of pure silence.
“Sure, what is it?” Fukase says wanting anything to cure his boredom as Meiko had ordered everyone to be silent.
Kagamine Len reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter and a cigarette and for less than a second he used it. Fukase immediately grabbed the lighter and turned it off.
“WHAT THE FUCK, DUDE?” Fukase says, raising his voice but not by a lot.
“What?” Kagamine Len said not knowing what the problem was since they always smoked cigarettes.
“Not in here, we could get caught.” Fukase says missing the point that lighting a flame in a room full of paper is not a good idea.
“Lets sneak outside then” Kagamine Len says as they go out the back door and open up the cigarettes because the government was cracking down on vapes and hadn’t really cared about cigarettes.
When they got to a dark alleyway they eventually opened a box of cigarettes and got the lighter out and smoked the cigarette.
After a while they notice it is 2:00pm and they need to head back.
“Wait, leave the lighter here.” Fukase says thinking that if they get searched they might get in big trouble.
“Why?” Kagamine Len says asking why he would ever leave the lighter there.
“Because, if you get searched then it will look like you were trying to burn the place down.” Fukase says realizing how badly this could go.
“Fine, I will leave it here.” Kagamine Len says leaving the lighter and cigarettes there so they don’t get in trouble.
As Kagamine Len and Fukase walk away they make dirty jokes about random things eventually reaching the front door and sneakily entering and they somehow don’t get caught.
Meanwhile, a massive beam hits the lighter causing it to explode into a massive fireball setting leaves on fire. Soon the walls of the building which are made out of wood set ablaze causing the fire alarm to go off.
Everyone gets ordered out of the building, some people try to save work while others just leave. As everyone leaves the building the entire building burns down and as the firefighters try to fight the fire.
162 people, 15 children (Mostly people in Kagamine Len and Fukase class) die, while 203 people get injured and the public mourns the losses of people.
After a while the firefighters are able to stop the fire and only then do forensic experts search the scene for any signs of foul play.
Meanwhile the media have raced to the scene and are giving interviews to everyone involved. Fukase and Len do not think they committed any crimes yet.
After a few hours experts estimate the total monetary loss to be about 100 billion dollars in just works. The forensic experts are seen in an interview where they say that the fire started around 2:00pm to 2:20pm furthermore they found the lighter where they thought it started.
At this point Len starts realising that he may have caused the fire and killed all those people. He starts panicking, “How long would I go to jail for? What would people think of me?” Len started thinking over and over again.
So, Kagamine Len signs up for reddit under the name u/MedicalGoal2194 and he posts something to r/AITAH.
Some of the comments took it seriously and said that he is an asshole and he should probably just hand himself into the police. While others saw it as a joke and laughed it off and said that he wasn’t the asshole.
Meanwhile, the police had seen this post and had reason to believe he may have caused the fire. So, they gave a warrant to see the IP address. Reddit hands the IP address and after some computer wizardry they have the location for Kagamine Len’s house.
As well as having the IP address they find Len’s fingerprints on the lighter.
At 10:00pm police invade his house and arrest him, although they still want to know who the other mysterious person (Fukase) is.
After a while he is brought to the police office and is questioned.
“"You are not obliged to say anything unless you wish to do so, but whatever you do say will be recorded and may later be given in evidence.".
“You can refuse to answer a question if you wish and whatever you say or do can and will be used against you. Do you understand?” The police officer asks, starting the questioning.
“What is your name?” the police officer asks in a calm tone.
“Kagamine Len.” Kagamine Len answers scared.
“Address?” the Police officer asks, still being calm and following procedure.
“Idk.” says Len not knowing his address since he lives with his parents Rin/Miku.
“Ok, we will get your record and find that. What about your date of birth?” the officer says, still being calm.
“December 27th, 2007” Kagamine Len is scared about what might happen next.
“Ok, you are a suspect for the burning of the library of Alexandria.” the police officer says.
“My name is Gumi and I will be integrating you. I probably should have started with that but that's ok.” Gumi says knowing that Len is scared.
“I know you're scared but you probably went away after being scared that you might be caught with a lighter and something hit it and you got the blame for it.” Gumi says understanding Len’s position.
“Yeah, that's what mostly happened.” Len said, liking that someone finally understands him.
“Can you tell me what happened?” Gumi says hoping to get a confession.
“Yeah so, I snuck out with my friend to smoke cigarettes and my friend said I should leave the lighter there so I don’t get in trouble. Something happened and the lighter got set off and then we left the building and next thing all the info came out and I felt guilty. So, I made that post on reddit” Len confesses.
“And this other friend is?” Gumi asks, wanting to get other info.
“Fukase.” Len says.
“What is his address?” Gumi says wanting more info.
“Idk.” Len says (Because who knew their friends address).
“Ok, I assume he goes to the same school as you?” Gumi says, wanting to know who Fukase is because Fukase might be an accomplice.
“Yes.” Len says keeping it short and simple.
“I think we have all the info we need.” Gumi says walking out as Len gets escorted to a holding cell.
While walking to school Fukase gets arrested and goes to jail, where he too is investigated.
After a few weeks Len and Fukase get brought out to trial, where they are sentenced to death. Len would be the first to die.
“What do you want for your last meal?” a prison guard says.
“I would like banana ice cream with chocolate sauce.” Kagamine Len says wanting something sweet.
“OK.” the prison guard says as after a while his order is brought out and Len eats it while crying.
After a day Len is brought out to a field and is blindfolded and shot. Len died.
After that Fukase gets offered a last meal.
“What do you want for your last meal?” a prison guard says.
“Tacos, KFC, chocolate cake and hot chocolate.” Fukase says knowing the way he will die.
After 2 hours, Fukase eventually gets his food and he eats every last bit of the food.
After 24 hours Fukase is brought out to the field and is shot by a firing squad. Fukase died.
