Work Text:
You were walking aimlessly after stealing a loaf of bread from a random woman, your hand clutched the bread as if it were life itself. The atmosphere felt thin, but you perservered. A flock of birds abruptly starting chirping over your head, 'Oh why now?' You thought to yourself, there came another child, around you age with nice long hair that flowed like ribbons, with a nice blue hat and jacket.
You stopped walking a few feet in front of him. You honestly were confused about what he needed a sick girl like you for? 'Here comes another trying to steal my bread..'
surprisingly he didn't try to steal anything. He gestured for you to come along and so you did, though you were skeptical of him and his hoard of animals you had nowhere else to go and the only man you could ever even remotely trust was him. And so you followed
Once you guys reached his little hide-out, you were informed of his name.
"Uhm, could I have you name now? We're around the same age and you decided to take me your home like shelter."
"The name is Kite."
"Kite.." you gave a reassuring smile "well thats a nice name, my name is [name]"
"Well thats nice, you should definitely get some rest though. Its already midnight, and I'm gonna wake you up early."
You agreed, though not totally at ease with this new shelter. But this was the only place you could really stay for now. You balled you self up as you usually did and fell asleep.
The next morning was mediocre, all that happened was you and Kite scavenging for food. Wasn't that climactic at all, the only things keeping you entertained were Kite's questions every once in a while.
"So how old are you?" Kite asked
"Ah, I'm around Y/O. What about you?" You asked back.
"Mhm, I don't really care about my age, but I'm around your age I'd guess."
"Hmm why do you not?—" you were interupted by relentless coughing and you tripped on your foot. Kite looked over with concern visible on his face. You ultimately blacked out and had to be carried back by Kite.
You woke up cuddled up against a dog for warmth, Kite was sitting and facing the other way. 'What time is it?...' You wondered. Though your thoughts were cut short as a random man walked into the alley where you and Kite lived.
"So this is where you live?" The man said nonchalantly. Both you and Kite looked up at the man. "Hey, kid. I want cha' to become my apprentice." 'Am I hearing this man correctly?' Sadly, you were.
"The names Ging, Ging Freecs. And I want you to train under me, then become a hunter." The man, whom you now know as Ging was staring at Kite, paying no mind to you, though it might have been for the better.
"A hunter?" Kite said, it sounded more like a question though.
"Yeah, ya' train under me and become a hunter. But you're gonna have to leave this chick behind." Ging glances down at your frail form. It seemed like he didn't care much about you, just about Kite.
"Kite you should go." You told him. Though you didn't know why, it's not like you wanted him to go.
Kite looked over at you, the look ask permission. And so you nodded your head. "I'll take care of all the animals here, don't worry. It'll only be a few months right?" "If you see nothing wrong with it... then, okay." Kite agreed with the man Ging. "Don't worry [name]. I'll come back to help you..."
"Alrighty, lets go 'Kite'" Kite spared you one finale glance and you gave him you finale smile.
< A few months later >
Spending time without Kite was boring, and extremely repetitive. It was like time slowed down, it had only been a month without Kite but it felt like you couldn't take it anymore. Everything got so repetitive and irrelevant that you started to take it out on yourself like purposely starving yourself, harming yourself, and more...
One day, after you had finished feeding the animals you decided enough was enough.. you then found yourself at the edge of a cliff, admiring the view. Soon after, you had jumped. A disgusting SPLAT echoed, though nobody had cared for a sick, starved, and frail little girl.
After Kite had returned to the alley way, all he saw was a little note saying "I'm so incredibly sorry Kite. I couldn't make it without you, just know that I'll love you till infinity." That was it. The note was soon tear-soaked, as he clutched it to his chest. That was it. He soon got up and wiped his tears, promising himself that nobody would get into his heart ever. You were the first, and the last to be with him.
