Chapter 1: Chapter One

Chapter Text

The sun beat down on her back as she swung her bag into the boot before turning to her friend. “Emily, why do we have so much stuff? We’re only going for a couple of days.”

“Exactly! We need plenty of food and water whilst we’re out there, as well as our tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, all that stuff.”

“My tools and fishing rods aren’t gonna fit in here with the boys’ bags as well.”

“They can go in the back with you!” she grinned.

The sound of footsteps approaching had the pair turn to the source.

“Morning, Shane! Morning, Harvey!”

“It’s too fuckin’ early,” Shane grumbled.

“Coffee’s in the house, just ditch your bags here so we can Tetris this shit,” she stated, her eyes focused on the car.

An arm wrapping around her from the side snapped her out of her thoughts, and she looked up to the green-blue eyes above her. “You’re an angel, Elle, thank you,” Harvey smiled before squeezing, then releasing and heading towards the farmhouse after the shorter man. Ignoring her friend’s gaze burning into her, she began to pull everything out of the boot.

Emily sidled up to her. “He is so into you,” she stage-whispered, smirking.

“As I keep telling you, he isn’t,” she murmured in a sing-song, her gaze focused on the variety of bags strewn on the grass.

“Mmmmhm,” she hummed. “I’m gonna go check on the boys.”

“Okie doke. I’ll see what I can do here.”

By the time the three returned, Elle had the boot packed to the brim with a few bags remaining. “This is the best I can do; the rest will have to go in the back with me and Shane.”

“Not me, bucko,” Shane said, “I’m shotgun.”

“How the fuck are you shotgun? Harvey needs the legroom way more than you do.”

“Because I called dibs last night when I was at the saloon.”

“It’s true, we were talking last night, and he called it,” Emily chipped in, her eyes glinting mischievously.

Elle turned to the brunet, “Are you going to be OK in the back?”

Pushing his glasses up his nose, Harvey smiled, “I’ll be alright, don’t worry.”

She smiled back before looking at the bags. “These are gonna take up a fair bit of space in the back. We’ll be in tight.”

“Let me try,” Shane strode over and took two of the bags before beginning to stuff them into the car.

A few minutes later, he stepped back, “That is literally the best I can get it. It looks like one of you will have to have a bag on top of you for the journey.”

“Surely it’ll be better if Elle just sits on Harvey’s lap? It’ll be comfier than one of those rucksacks,” Emily suggested

Harvey’s brow furrowed. “That isn’t very safe…”

“It’ll be fine!” she beamed, “If anything, it’ll be safer than your face colliding into one of those heavy bags filled with Yoba knows what. I’m a very safe driver anyway, but I’ll be extra safe, and if anything does happen, we all know you’ll keep Elle safe. She’s lighter than the bags; it’ll be better for you both.”

The doctor sighed and ran a hand through his hair before turning his attention to the blonde, “Are you OK with this?”

“I mean it’s the best option we have,” she sighed, her eyes on the ground as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before looking up and smiling at him softly, “Like Emily said, if anything happens, you’ll keep me safe.”

He smiled back, “Of course.”

They held one another’s gaze until she cleared her throat and looked away. “OK, now that’s sorted. If anyone needs to pee, go now. The less we have to stop on this trip, the better.”

“Great idea! Elle, come on,” Emily grabbed her hand and pulled her back to the farmhouse. As soon as the door clicked shut, she whipped around. “You two totally had a moment then.”

“We have those kinds of moments because he’s too nice and- luckily- oblivious for his own good, and I cannot control myself around him. Why did I agree to this trip??” She ran a hand through her hair.

“Because I begged you, and this trip wouldn’t happen without you. We wouldn’t have anywhere near as good of a time without you. None of us can fish or set up a decent fire or cook on a campfire, you can do them all!”

“Did you and Shane set this up? Does he know?”

“Sweety, he noticed before you told even me. He may have alluded that his calling dibs was done with… motive.”

“I am going to strangle that fuckwit when I get a moment alone with him.”

“As long as it’s after we’ve peed. I’m going to this one.” Emily then turned and headed to the closest bathroom.

When the blonde descended the stairs, she found Harvey and Shane at the doorway. “Are you ready? We need to get our shit into gear if we want to be all set up by nightfall.”

“I just need to wash the coffee-”

“Already done, I didn’t think anyone else would get one after Shane and I got ours,” Harvey cut in, smiling.

She returned a grateful smile, “Thank you.” She turned back to Shane, “Then yeah, let’s go.”

The group headed to the car, the three getting in their seats before Elle slid into the brunet’s lap. It took some shuffling- causing her cheeks to burn- until she settled, her back straight and eyes on the front window.

“Everyone ready? Let’s go!” Emily beamed in the rear-view mirror before starting the engine and pulling out.

As they reached the road out of town, arms slipped around her waist and her breath hitched as Harvey murmured in her ear, “Lay back, it’s OK.”

She complied, her back melding into his soft, solid torso, and she felt her heart thump heavily. He wrapped his arms around her hips, large hands resting on her shorts and images of the same hands flicking the button of her shorts open flitted in her mind. She exhaled deeply, blinking in a bid to mentally shake away the images.

“Are you doing OK?” he asked, his grip briefly tightening.

“Yeah, are you? If you need me to readjust, I can.”

“I was actually thinking I can readjust, it will save my legs at least,” he chuckled then slowly spread his legs, supporting her as she plopped on the seat below.

“Yeah, I can only imagine how dead they’d be after a few hours of having any kind of weight on them,” she managed to giggle.

“You kids OK back there?” Shane asked, turning in his seat to look back at them.

“Yeah, although you’re doing a shit job with the role of DJ. I thought since you were so excited to be shotgun, you would take your responsibilities more seriously,” the blonde replied, smirking.

“If you think you can do better, you do it,” he retorted.

Shifting to face the middle console, she replied, “Give me the cable then, I made a playlist.”

“Of course you did,” he picked up the cable and passed it back to her, rolling his eyes.

Elle leaned forward, Harvey’s arms loosening so she could reach and instead moving to grip her hips. Opening Spotify, she heard Shane ask, “You doing OK there, Doc?”

He cleared his throat before answering, “Yeah, yeah, fine.”

After hitting play and locking her phone, she passed it to the dark-haired man in front of her and shifted again. “No skipping songs just because you don’t like them. There’s no screamo because Emily needs to concentrate, but there is some Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and AC/DC, to name a few off the top of my head.”

Shane grunted, “A bunch of emo shit and no Led Zeppelin?”

She jolted forward, “OK, first off, I know you started on that ‘emo shit’ before you found the heavier stuff because back in the day, you were screaming ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ louder than me. Secondly, there is some Led Zeppelin in there, I just can’t remember the names of the songs.”

Harvey piped up behind her, “Back in the day?”

She shifted to look back at him, briefly distracted by the heavy bob of his Adam’s apple, before replying, “Didn’t you know Shane and I were friends back in high school? He was part of my brother’s friend group and we’d hang out.”

“That’s why you two seemed so friendly so quickly,” Harvey stated.

“Yeah, turns out Marnie moved here after Grandpa passed, so we never crossed paths here.” She shot the brunet a smile before moving to turn back to Shane, “As I was saying, this is your origin shit in here, your childhood. Don’t diss it.”

“Yoba, you two act like you’re still teenagers with the way you bicker,” Emily laughed.

“He’s the additional annoying older brother I never had.”

“And you’re the annoying little sister I’m so glad I never had.”

“Fuck you, poppet, you wish I was your little sister. I would’ve sorted out your-”

“We’re not going there, squirt. No bringing down the vibe of this trip with that shit.”

“OK, OK,” she held her hands up, “I’m just sayin’ I would’ve knocked sense into them.”

“Of course you would,” he drawled.

“Once again, fuck you and that tone. You know I’m terrifying.”

He shot her a side-eye as he responded deadpan, “Totally.”

As she riled up to respond, she was jerked back against Harvey, his arms wrapping around her once more, “You can debate how terrifying you are when you’re not unrestrained in a moving vehicle.”

“You seem to be doing a pretty good job of restraining her there, Doc. You got experience in that field?” the brunet in front of them smirked, his gaze glinting.

She felt her cheeks begin to burn again as she barked, “Shane!”

He turned back, laughing.

Mentally slapping away the frankly wicked thoughts her imagination conjured up, she shifted as she leaned back. “Ignore him, he’s just trying to wind us up.”

Harvey cleared his throat again, “Yeah, I know.”

The group settled into silence until they reached the McDonald’s drive-through for their breakfast before continuing the journey.

“Do you want me to move so you can eat more comfortably?” Elle asked, setting her paper bag on top of one of the bags and gripping her coffee.

“OK, sure. Please can you hold my coffee?”

“One sec,” she turned and slotted hers into the drink holder in front of her before turning back to take his and set it in the adjacent hole. With some manoeuvring, she soon found herself side-saddle on his lap, one hand firm around her hips as she swapped between taking a drink of her coffee and passing Harvey his.

“I would ask you why there’s so much Taylor fucking Swift in your playlist, but this is you I’m talking about,” Shane snarked, taking a bite out of his sausage and egg McMuffin.

“Hey, Emily likes the folklore and evermore eras, and given she’s driving us, I put the two full albums in for her as well as some other artists I know she likes. You’ll survive,” she snapped, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips as she finished her breakfast wrap.

With the breakfasts eaten and the rubbish collected, the blonde settled back between Harvey’s thighs once more.

“Are your arms not hurting?” She asked a little later, tilting her head to look up at him.

“A little, but it’s a good workout. They need it.”

She turned moreso, “You already have guns, Harv. I won’t hear any argument otherwise.”

They held each other’s gaze for a few long moments before Elle shifted back, clearing her throat quietly. After a few moments, she leaned forward. “Shane, please can you pass me my phone?”

He complied wordlessly, and she checked her notifications, deleting the marketing emails that had come in and working through the few social media posts that she had missed before passing it back to him. Just as he put it down, the car bounced, and Harvey pulled her back sharply, grunting as she landed against him.

“Sorry! Pothole,” Emily called.

“You OK? I didn’t wind you there, did I?” she chuckled, shifting to settle back.

Harvey coughed, “No, I’m- I’m fine,” he murmured.

She shifted her gaze to the window, watching the scenery trundle by. She was soon snapped away from her thoughts by a gentle pressure building by her lower back.

When she realised what the sensation was, her eyes widened briefly, her face beginning to burn as every nerve focused on the growing length pushing into her. She had only ever allowed her imagination to consider what the man behind her hid under his clothes in the dead of night, with only the sound of her vibrator and her breathy sighs and moans filling the silence. In that moment, she was getting a better idea, and the fantasies she’d spent many a night dreaming up began to sharpen closer to a false memory. She willed herself to act like she couldn’t feel the good doctor’s semi-hard cock pressing into her, caused by her, as a familiar heat began to pool in her lower abdomen.

‘All that moving around was basically grinding on him,’ she thought, her eyes fixed on the landscape, ‘It’s a perfectly natural response, nothing to think into.’

The car jolted again, and Harvey let out a strangled growl behind her as his length slid up her back and her blush deepened, letting out a quiet, shaky breath as she felt it thicken from the friction.

“Yoba, the potholes around here are terrible.”

“Yeah, well, roadworks aren’t exactly in the government’s top priorities right now,” Shane grumbled, his thumb flicking over his phone screen as he scrolled.

“We’re nearly there anyway, so potholes won’t be an issue for much longer. Gravel, yes, but hopefully no potholes.”

The thought of the car vibrating in her current position made her swallow thickly, and she shifted, quickly stilling as she felt Harvey’s length press further into her and harden.

‘That’s a full-on boner right there,’ she thought, wiping her now sweaty palms on her shorts and chewing on her bottom lip as she stared out the window. The filthy part of her brain all but begged her to push back on his length, elicit another animalistic grunt from the brunet, get him as worked up as she was, but she fought back. ‘He doesn’t see me like that, we’re just friends, it’ll make things so awkward, I won’t be able to show my face in town again, Shane will tease him mercilessly, he’ll never let me live it down. It’s a bad idea, it’s a bad idea, it’s a bad idea.’

The car began to rumble as they trundled over the gravel road, and she was grateful her thighs took the brunt of it.

Shane was singing loudly along to ‘Teenagers’ when Emily pulled up, waiting until the chorus finished before killing the engine.

“We’re here!” she sing-songed, unbuckling her seatbelt and swinging the door open.

Harvey had loosened his grip as soon as the car stopped, meaning the blonde could follow her friend out. She immediately went to the boot and pulled her axe out. “I’m gonna go and get some firewood. Emily, please can you put my tent up whilst I’m gone? I might be a while.”

“Sure,” she replied. She stepped closer and dropped her voice. “You OK?”

“Yeah, I… I’ll tell you later.”

“OK, see you soon.”

Elle didn’t look at Harvey as she headed into the woodland, her eyes fixed on the trees ahead.
