Soup

Summary:

A short angsty story about shark fin soup that I wrote couple of years ago. It's not polished and hastily translated (by me).

Pretty amateurish tbh, but people on Pinterest wanted to see it so I'm posting here.

Work Text:

That day had started well for the shark. It swam happily as it ate the fish killed by the boat’s propeller. It hid in the shadow of the boat as dolphins started to swim and sing around. The shark found itself being pulled out of the water as it waited for the dolphins to leave.

The humans laughed and whistled when they saw it. The shark hoped it was a good thing. It’s gills had sunken, and the shark couldn’t breathe even if it opened and closed its mouth. It tried to point to the sea with it's tail when the humans pulled it to the boat. But humans didn’t care. The shark felt a sharp pain on it’s back as it looked around in fear. The pain spread, the shark was confused. There was a scent it knew well from food: Blood.
The pain radiated to it’s fins and tail, the scent of blood got stronger.

Eventually one of the humans grabbed it and threw it to the sea. The cool waters soothed the shark. It immediatelyopened it’s mouth to breathe. But it couldn’t wim no matter how hard it flailed.
The sharl was sinking.
It’s body left a red cloud as it moved with the waves.

It hurt.

So the shark did the only thing it could do:
It cried.

It cried as the fish ate his flesh, as it’s bitemarked body hit the sea floor and it couldn’t breathe anymore.

The shark kept crying even as it’s heart stopped and it’s free but cruelly taken soul left it’s decomposing body.

It wasn’t a shark anymore. It was a bird with clipped wings, one of the millions of creatures that were brutally killed by humankind. And it wouldn’t be the last.

At those moments, a wealthy family were drinking soup in a luxury restaurant.

Shark fin soup.

I'll try to come back and edit spelling and stuff
