Flames raise high from an burning, five story, apartment building. Nya, Kai, Arin and Sora arrived at the scene. Nya walked up to the building, Flames rising almost as if it was above the clowds. She turned to face her team at hand. She dropped her bag she brought on the floor. "Okay, there are four masks in this bag. We were given them so for fsm don't break them. I'm looking at you Kai." Kai rolled his eyes at the comment. "We need to scout through the building if anyone is left inside. If we find someone, we sprint to the nearest exit." They nodded as they put on the masks.
They went inside the building. There were flames everywhere. a piece of the burning ceiling crashed down, fire particles flying everywhere. "Can't we go in pairs? We could find the people inside faster if we divide i groups." Kai suggested. "It's a good idea." Sora pointed out. "I agree. I'll go with my brother. You go with Arin. We'll meet back outside in about an hour. Okay?" Nya said. They nodded. "Okay. Sora and Arin you guys search upstairs and keep moving up. We'll start here and also work our way up aswel." With that Nya and Kai disapeard in the flames.
Nya put out the flames as best she could and Kai searched in every corner of the building. He heard alot of screaming coming from the bathroom. Kai tried opening it. But it wouldn't budge. "Hold on." Nya said."Igot this." She kicked the door as hard as she can. The door broke of. There were visible scratches on the back of the door. Probably by trying to open it. An littel boy was sitting behind a masive curtain of smike and fire. Nya was quick to put it out. The boy looked up, his eyes red from crying. He hugged Nya. "Thank you so much miss. I didn't thought anyone was coming to get me after everyone left." He sobbed. Nya patted his head. "It's okay. We're gonna get you out." The boy parted with Nya as he walked over to Kai. He took his hand and Led him though the flames
Arin and Sora walked carefully though the flames up the staircase. "You hear that?" Sora asked. She heard screaming. It was coming from the elevator. Both made their way to the elevator. And Sora was able to crack it open. She and Arin pulled out two young woman, burns on both their arms. "Thank you so much. I didn't know if i'd survive any longer." One woman said. "And I told you not to use an elevator while there is an fire! Even if you're on the fourth floor!" The other woman added. Arin brought both of them to safety outside of the building. A littel further they found a worker in the employees only room. And Sora was able to get them to the ground. The both of them slowley worked their way up all the way to the fifth floor. Where they heard extreem crying and screams.
It was coming from one of the apartments. Arin busted the door down with Sora behind him, to find a littel girl shaking in place thats at least six years old. Her eyes were red from crying. She was hugging her monkey stuffed animal. Sora walked up to her and got down on her level."Hey, Are you okay? Are you hurt?" The littel girl shook her head, tightning her grip on her monkey. Sora placed a hand on the girls shoulder. "Were gonna get you out of here okay." She said gently. The girl nodded, taking Sora's hand to walk out her apartment. But the ceiling collapsed down, blocking the way of the three of them.
Sora jumped, covering the kid with her arms hoping she'd stay unharmed. A burning pile of cement, metal and wires blocked the exit. The girl started panicking. Arin got to her side as Sora is looking around for an fire extinguisher. The girl was shaking even more then before. "Hey, hey. it's all going to be okay." He stated. She looked up at him and nodded, though still shaking in place. "Whats your name?" He asked, trying to break the ice and distracted her. "Lydia." She answerd. Suddenly, they heard a big blast, coming from where Sora was. Arin stood up and walked over, to see Sora coverd in black soot. "What hapend?" Arin asked her. "Lets keep it on that the fire extinguisher didn't coöperate." She replied while wiping of the soot.
Sora, Arin, and Lydia chose to stay put. Nya and Kai were going to work their way up the building, and Nya would probably put out all the fire and find them. Stil Sora shouted hoping they would come sooner, while Arin was trying to calm Lydia down.
Lydia started coughing. Probably from the smoke that was filling the air. Arin put a hand on her shouder, but her coughs grew more violent. Arin decided to give her his mask. He was adjusting the mask for her when Sora stopped yelling for a moment to look at what he was doing. She gave him one of those looks that just screams what in the heck are you doing? "Arin. It's a nice gesture, but i don't want you coughing to even breathe." She said. "I won't" He said, pulling on his ninja mask. "Lets just hope that Nya and Kai find us soon. I'm starting to feel like one of your pies." He replied. Sora couldn't help but chuckel. Only he is able to make an intense moment lose a part of its tension. And she loved him for it.
About a minute has passed when Sora heard footsteps heading their way. She screamed and got the attention of what she could only hope was Kai screaming back.
Lydia had stopped shaking and had her monkey in hand. Meanwhile Arin wasn't having it. Every breath felt like sandpaper. He started coughing. He was trying to keep it quite. We don't need littel Lydia or worse Sora stressing over him. He's fine.
"Sora? Sora, are you and Arin okay?" Kai shouted. "I'm fine. And-" Sora looked over at Arin. He's clearly struggling but gave her a reassuring nod, though she didn't buy his littel act. "Arin's holding on. Where's Nya?" She asked. "She and i split up after you guys didn't show up." He answerd. "Okay. Can you get us out?" She asked. "I have one idea. Actually two. But i think you'd rather have me go and find Nya then blasting al of 'this' out of the way with even MORE fire." he responded. "I do. Just hurry. This is taking to long in my opinion." She replied. She heard His footsteps fading slowley, as she focused on Arin.
A dull, throbbing headache started forming in Arin's head. He felt fuzzy, almost drunk. "Arin, buddy. I know you want to act tough, but you are more than clearly suffering." Sora said. He didn't even notice she was right infront of him. "No, i promise i'm fine. Besides, Kai will be back soon with Nya." He replied. "Uh huh. Yeah, not buying that. just take mine. it 'll be more fine if you're actually breathing right." She was already reaching for the buckel behind her head when Arin grabbed one of her hands. "Please." He then grabbed both her hands, looking into her eyes with those puppy eyes. "Don't do that." Sora was silent for a moment, then nodded. Though it shouldn't feel like this, for just a moment, it felt like it was just the two of them in their own littel perfect world. Before she caught Lydia smiling in the corner of her eye.
''Nya! I found them" Kai screamed, running though the fire. "Kai!" Nya screamed back. A blast of water came from the other side of the building. Kai catched up to Nya, spotting her under soot. "What hapend to you?" He asked, a clear chuckel behind the question. Wich Nya picked up on. "Don't make me laugh. I fel into an almost mountain of soot, and now i look like a black blob." She said. "Well clean up fast, i've found Sora and Arin." Nya nodded. "You go to them, i'll put out the rest of the fire in here." Nya said. Kai nodded as he went back to the kids.
The fire in the room closed in on Arin, Sora ,and Lydia. Lydia, while looking terrified, stood straight and strong with her monkey along side her. Sora on the other hand was scared. Not only for the fire, but for Arin aswel. He was coughing. And it worried her. She just wanted to get out of there. "Sora!" She heard. "Kai!" She screamed back. "Is Nya with you?" She asked. "She's coming right now, you should've seen her, She was covered in soot, amost looked like she was wearing Cole's gi." He said. Sora chuckeld. "Been there, done that." She said. A sound of running boots filled her ears. "Nya?" She asked. "Get back." She heard. She pulled Arin down and Lydia as an water wave hit the pile in front of them, putting out the fire infront of them. Then it collapsed down ,reavealing both Kai and Nya behind it. Nya went ahead and put out the rest of the fire in the room, while Lydia went and chatted with Kai. When Nya was done they began walking down the stairs.
Lydia and Kai were chatting away. Sora and Nya were behind them. "She's a real chatter box ain't she." Nya said. "Yeah. Me and Arin found her in the appartment you got us out from. She's a nice girl." Sora answerd. They were on the first floor yet again. Everything was covered in thick black soot. Nya's face frowned. "Where did she get that mask from?" She asked Sora. "Arin gave it to her. You didn't notice?" Sora asked. "No, i didn't." Nya said.
Arin has been walking behind everyone. He's been coughing alot, he felt fuzzy, he could hardly breath. He couldn't even hear what Sora and Nya were talking about. A bright light filled his eyes as he walked outside the building. He took of his ninja mask, thinking the fresh air would do him wonders. It didn't. He started coughing more violently, gasping for air. He was stumbeling and swaying left and right. But he forced himself as best he can to walk straight, though it wasn't very affective. He stumbled ahead of him, right to Sora.
Arin stumbled as best he could, coughing silently. Not like he was doing that on purpous. He coucld barely talk anymore. Everys step gained more weight, each one more heavy, his legs fealt numb. It was like as if the floor is a giant magnet pulling him down. He could feel his heart pounding violently in his palms. And a weird hollow feeling spreads through his stomach. by the time he was a littel near Sora. He couldn't move. He froze in place. He was screaming from the inside. But he could only mumble a whisper. "Help. Sora." Before he crashed into something. The edges of his vision was turning pitch black, the colors bleed out. He could hear faint screaming in the backround. He saw Kai from a distant looking at him, and with a blink he was in front of his vision. That was the last he rememberd before Everything went black.
"I think i see his eye twitching."
"Are you sure? I don't see anything."
"Yeah me neither."
"No. I know what i saw. His eye was twitching."
"Can you three shut up?"
Arin woke up by an high pitched sound along with a heavy and hazey rasps, before realising it's him breathing. His throat felt like he swallowed sharp glass. It felt very dry. Stressed he bolted up, only to be hit by the feeling of nausea, a piercing headache, and shivering cold. Forcing him back down. There were muffeld sounds around him. He tried to ask 'what?' But only an dry wheez came out. Arin opend his eyes. He got hit by a blinding light. Muffeld cheers and sighs of relief filled the room, aswel as an wierd sound.
Beep....Beep....Beep
It was some heart monitor. He was in the medbay. This time, Arin sat up slowely. He felt hands on his arms helping him up. He could hardley see. Everything was a littel blurry, but he could hear quite better now. Right when he was sat up, a pair of hands wrapped around him, squeezing him so tight he'd might sufficate again. He couldn't make out the person, but only one person he knows has beautiful pink hair. "I thought you were a goner." She let go when Arin started lightly gasping again. "You have no idea how much stress i had when you crashed into me."
Arin was confused. He tried to talk. But it wasn't coming out. It took some extreem effort to manage a slight whisper. "What. Hapend?" He asked. An figre dressed in red, who was probably Kai, walked up to his bed. "You crashed right into Sora and passed out." Kai explained. Anouther voice talked, most likely Zane because of the robotic tone in his voice. "We found alot of Carbon Monoxide in your lungs. We hooked you onto a monitor and gave you some oxygen. And somehow ,you survived." "It did take you a good while to wake up. Almost 6 hours. Me, Sora, Kai, Zane and Lloyd are the only ones who stayed so long." Someone said. Wel it's probably Nya. It sounds like her. Arin's vision had came back more. He could tell who and what was in the room. Arin coughed in his ellbow. Black soot apeard on his arm. "Why?-" He wheezed before he cut himself off by coughing up more soot. He felt a hand rubbing circkels on his back. "Though we removed a large porstion of soot that had entered your lungs, you may cough some up the next few days." Zane explained. Arin nodded. He looked behind him. Sora was rubbing the circkels behind him. He smiled at her. She smiled back. On the other side Lloyd sat on an chair next to his bed. Right beside the monitor. He smiled at him. And Arin did to.
Though Arin was happy to be awake again. He was very tired. With much, jet less effort, he managed to get a word out. "Tired." He said. "Understood bud." Nya said. Both she and Kai left the room. Lloyd stood up from the chair. "Get some rest." He said. Both him and Zane left the room.
Sora was about to leave the room, when Arin spoke. "Wait." Sora stopped in her tracks, looking back at him. He was silent for a minute. "Water. Please." Sora smiled and went and grabbed a glas from the cabnite and filled it with water. She handed it to him as he tried to chug it. It first felt ice-cold and soothing, but when it hit his throat it stung. Swallowing felt tight and heavy. He almoste choked on it. He was coughing like crazy while Sora, yet again, rubbed circkels on his back. Her hand felt warm and nice. Just what he needed. But thats just what Sora is. Something you didn't know you needed.
After he swallod the water, it sent a cool wave down his chest. He felt relief wash over him. "You feel better?" Sora asked. Arin nodded. Sora smiled. "Goodnight then." She said. She kissed Arin's forehead. Arin's cheeks instantly flared up, and so did Sora's. They both smiled at eachother, as the heart monitor went haywire
