Rumi was relaxing on the tan couch in the living room of her and jinus home, legs propped up glass of water in hand when she heard her phone ring.
She glanced over and saw jinus name popped up on her screen. She smiled and set her glass down before answering.
“Hey baby“ she greeted and she heard loud music in the background before he spoke
“ hi honey, you doing okay? “ he asked she rubbed her hand over her 9 month old belly, feeling her baby kick.
“Yes, sweetheart, we’re okay.” She said referring to her and their baby.
“Okay good, we are about to go on stage but I wanted to check up on you, I really wish I could be there with you right now- “
“ I know baby, me too. The baby has been keeping me up since you’ve been gone. Guess she is missing her appa” she
“ just hope she doesn’t decide to make her appearance tonight, this is the last show before I finally have some time off so I can take care of you and the baby.” He said before he cut off “ Jinu! Let’s go! We’re on!” She heard Abby’s voice in the background “okay! I’m coming!” He yelled back “ i gotta go, I love you sweetheart, stay safe” he said softly and she heard a smooching sound from the speaker
“ I love you too, knock them dead” she replied before she hung up.
She sighed snd leaned back on the couch stilling rubbing her belly.
Her pregnancy had been fine as of late, no symptoms other then the excruciating back pain and the baby had been calm up until Jinu left for his tour.
He knew it was risky to leave her so late in her pregnancy but his manager really wanted to go through with this tour and since Rumi was still a little ways from her due date, he figured everything would be okay.
“ well sweetheart I guess it’s just you and me” she said softly, derpy grunted at her feet
“ I didn’t forget about you derpy” she giggled the baby kicked in response to her mothers laugh.
She settled back into a comfy position before continuing her show on tv. Not much else she can do that doesn’t require movement.
She began to feel a little cold so she threw on her throw blanket overtop her legs but as she was doing so. She felt a sharp pain in her lower belly.
“ oooh, okay. These Braxton hicks contractions are something “ she breathed through the pain.
They already had their common scare when she began having her Braxton hicks, thinking it was labor. But to their disappointment. It wasn’t active labor and they had freaked out over nothing.
One it lessened up she settled back again. Only for about 15 minutes When it happened again. A crushing pain in her belly they made her actually wince.
“ okay, that one really hurt” she looked at the clock and realized the contractions were somewhat close together. And then she felt it- she lifted the blanket and noticed the wet patch, her water had broken.
“ oh, no, not now. Why now? “ she cursed under her breath and grabbed her phone.
Jinu was undoubtedly on stage right now and didn’t have his phone so she decided to dial Mira instead
It Rang twice before her voice came from the other end
“ Rumi? What’s up, is everything okay?” She asked worryingly
“ I- “ she got cut off by a contraction, she winced “ I’m going into labor, my water just broke and Jinu is performing right now, ah- ahh “ she squeezed her eyes shut and grimaced at the pain.
“Oh, oh shit okay, I will be there as soon as possible, and I’ll take you to the hospital”
“O- ok, but hurry, this baby is not being patient” she breathed
“ I’ll grab Zoey on the way, just. Breath girl, you got this” Mira said before hanging up.
She tried sitting up to grab the hospital bag she had packed but the contractions were not being kind to her. So she sat back and waited for Mira and Zoey.
It didn’t take long for them to arrive. Only about 20 minutes.
She heard a knock before she heard Zoey’s voice.
“ Rumi! Its us!” She yelled.
“It’s not locked” she yelled back. Doubling over in pain.
Mira and Zoey both rushed in, immediately rushing to Rumi’s side.
“ how far apart are the contractions?” Mira asked grabbing her hand and squeezed lightly.
“About 10 minutes apart, I thought it was just Braxton hicks before my water broke. “ she explained
“ we’ll, I guess she decided she wanted to retaliate since her appa isn’t here” Mira said and giggled.
Rumi smiled as Mira helped her stand and Zoey went to grab the hospital bag.
“Does Jinu know?” Zoey asked
“ no, I was just talking to him before the contractions started, he was about to go on stage. “
“ we should- probably call him, or atleast try, knowing him, he’s checked his phone between every song” Zoey suggested and grabbed rumis phone.
She dialed Jinus number and to no one’s surprise he answered immediately.
“Rumi? Sweetheart? Is everything okay? “ he asked expecting his wife’s voice but was greeted by Zoey instead.
“Hey lover boy, just so your aware, your baby has decided to retaliate against you and debut early” she teased and the silence from the other end gave indication that Jinu was trying to process the words said.
“What!? Now? Ugh I knew this tour was a bad idea. I’ll be on the first flight home. Is Rumi there? “ he panicked
“ I’m here baby, I’m here and we’re okay” she said out of breath “ we’re going to the hospital, so meet us there okay? “
“Okay, everything is going to be okay, I’ll be there as soon as humanly possible, I love you sweetheart” he said before he hung up.
“ okay let get rolling, if this baby is anything like Jinu, she isn’t going to be patient very long” Zoey teased slipping Rumi’s phone into the hospital bag and Mira helped Rumi out into her car. Zoey put the bag in the trunk before settling in the backseat with Rumi as Mira drove.
Over in Busan, Jinu hurriedly grabbed his items when mystery and Abby walked in.
“ whoa ! Buddy what’s going on? “ Abby asked noticing jinus panic.
“ Rumi’s in labor. I gotta get back to Seoul as soon as possible. “ he said and mystery and Abby looked at eachother
“ do you want us to come with you?” They asked
“ no, I’ll be fine. You guys stay here and keep everything under control. “ he said, he grabbed his bag and ran out the door.
Back in Seoul the girls had just arrived at the hospital. And Rumi’s contractions were closer together. Indicating this baby was not going to wait long.
She paused on their walk towards the hospital as another contractions rushed through her.
“Okay sweetheart, I get it. Please let eomma breathe” she pleaded with her child.
“I guess she isn’t going to wait for Jinu “ Mira added and continued walking towards the hospital doors.
Once nurses realized what was happening they wheeled Rumi to a room quickly, setting up her I.V and everything needed, She was
informed that her contractions were too close for an epidural so she was going all in naturally.
Mira and Zoey waited outside per the nurses instructions as they got everything set up for the birth.
Mira and Zoey waited as patiently as possible, worried for Rumi but they knew she was in good hands.
Once they were allowed back in the room, they immediately rushed to her side once again.
“ so girl, you ready to become a mama?” Mira asked holding Rumi’s hand.
“ ready as I will ever be, I just wish Jinu was here” she laid her free hand upon her belly, the I.V sat uncomfortably on her wrist but the pain of the contractions held her focus.
“ I’m sure he will be here soon, and if the baby decides to come before he gets here, I call that revenge for him leaving you to go on tour” Zoey assured and teased.
“ well I can already tell she going to have Jinu’s patience” Rumi sighed
“ do you think she will have patterns? “ Zoey asked “ I bet they would be so cute on her tiny little body”
“ maybe, I mean I’m half demon, Jinu is full demon. So that would make her atleast 3/4 demon.” Rumi pondered
A couple hours went by and by this point Rumi was at 10cm and ready to bring their child into the world. But Jinu, had not yet arrived.
Rumi sobbed as the pain had become unbearable and all she wanted was her husbands comfort.
It was just before Rumi began pushing that Jinu burst through the door, hair wild and wearing his huge trench coat that was wet from the rain outside
“ Rumi! I’m here! “ he announced rushing over to her side and Zoey gave him Rumi’s hand that she had been holding
He kissed her head and nuzzled her neck.
“ I’m so sorry it took me so long, the storm delayed the flight and I- “ he started but she shushed him
“ it’s okay, your just in time. She’s almost here” Rumi took her hand and brushed his cheek.
The doctor who had been tending to Rumi since she arrived looked up from under the blanket and smiled
“ it’s go time mama, your baby is ready. “ she announced
Jinu and Rumi looked at eachother and he leaned over again and kissed her cheek.
“Are you ready to finally meet our baby?” He asked
“ yes, and definitely ready to have the space back for my organs” she teased
He giggled and everyone else chucked at her response
“Alright mama, on the next contraction I want you to push as hard as you can okay? “ the doctor informed as they put her legs up in the stirrups
Rumi nodded and as soon as her contractions started she pushed, trying her best not to scream at the burning pain she was feeling in her pelvic area.
“Okay, good, good, she definitely coming fast” the doctor said from the end of the bed.
It only took two more pushes before the baby made her debut, red faced and screaming at the discomfort of no longer being in the warmth of her mother’s womb.
Rumi had tears in her eyes and she gave a slight laugh hearing her cry “she’s here”
Jinu, just as wrecked hugged Rumi close and gave her a kiss on the lips “she is”
The nurse came back with the swaddled baby in her arms and gently laid their daughter on Rumi’s chest, her little body was warm and Rumi couldn’t stop smiling. She was a mom.
Jinu reached over and smoothed the side of his hand over her little cheek. She squirmed in protest but settled after. Mira and Zoey were in the background hugging each-other with tears seeing the new family together
“Hello Su-Jin “ Rumi said softly, taking in the features of their little girl. She had a head of dark hair, identical to jinu’s and small patterns on her cheek.
“ she’s- she’s perfect” Jinu said adoringly, tears streaming now.
“Su-Jin? You guys already picked a name?? Why did you tell us! “ Zoey protested
“We wanted it to be a surprise, I mean we already knew she was going to be a girl. Gotta leave a little suspense” Rumi giggled
Just then su-Jin decided she was not content and was hungry
“Seems like somebody is hungry hmm? Not even an hour old and already got papa’s appetite” Rumi teased and Jinu looked over at her
“My appetite? More like eommas appetite” he teased back.
After the nurses helped Rumi get su-jin to nurse, Jinu settled in and sat down on the nearby couch.
“How does it feel to be an appa? “ Mira asked
“Weird, but a good weird. I’m so proud of Rumi for bringing her to the world, it’s definitely going to be a journey but it’s definitely one I’m ready for” he looked over at Rumi lovingly, seeing them together made him so happy, Rumi hadn’t stopped smiling since she was born and to be honest neither had he.
He knew one thing for certain, they were going to be okay.
