Work Text:
It was spring time meaning that at the Joestar-Zeppeli household, it was time for spring cleaning. The couple had been empting out the attic of all the built up boxes from over the years. They had made great progress, getting through three quarters of the boxes up there.
While they emptied out box after box, separating them into junk and keep piles, they came across an old box with no label on it, a layer of dust across the top of it. They dusted it off before slicing the tape open with a pocket knife.
“Hold on... is that?” Caesar squinted. To their surprise, inside the box was their old outfits they wore in their youth while fighting the Pillarmen and training under Lisa Lisa, completely untouched for about 50 years.
“Oh my god!” Joseph exclaimed upon seeing them. They sure did bring back some old memories. “I can’t believe they’ve been up here so long” Caesar mumbled.
Joseph turned to him with a big smile across his face, never a good sign. “Come on, let’s try em on!” he said. Caesar perked up, a bit surprised by what he had to say. “Try them on? Jojo, it’s been about 50 odd years! I doubt we’d fit into them” he replied.
Joseph’s smile dropped, looking a bit defeated. “Yeah, I suppose so...” he mumbled, staring at the clothes. “If you aren’t able to fit into your old clothes, I guess I’ll try it on myself” he said, flipping on a dime with a big smile. “Jojo, that’s not what I meant, you idiot” he groaned.
Ignoring his husband, Joseph pulled his shirt off and tossed on Caesar’s old white shirt which tightly clung to his torso. He grabbed his blue jacket, dusting it off before pulling it over his arms.
He rummaged through the cardboard box, he stared to take out all the components of Caesar’s outfit. “Yeesh, did you always wear this many layers?” Joseph asked.
“You should remember having to take them off all the time” Caesar grinned as Joseph slipped out of his pants. Jojo cackled. “Come on Caesar, you try on mine. Catch!” he quickly tossed the outfit up at Caesar’s face who swiftly caught it before it could hit his face.
He looked down at the outfit in his hands. Tight lime green crop top, blue skinny jeans, brown belt with a golden buckle, knee high boots and his bright green scarf with yellow stripes. It was funny to think that Joseph used to dress like this and now he dresses like some sort of Old Indiana Jones.
Sure why not, it sounded pretty fun. Besides, he has to show Jojo how a real fashionable person would have worn this outfit. “Alright, I’ll show you how it’s done” he said, unbuttoning his shirt. “Nicceee!” he said as he wormed his way into Caesar’s old pants.
By the time Caesar had gotten Jojo’s top and pants on, Joseph had already started with Caesar’s many accessories. His belt, his boots, his kneepads, pink scarf and weighted knuckle gloves.
Caesar slipped on the boots and belt and tossed the scarf over his shoulder with a flick of the wrist. Joseph fastened Caesar’s orange and purple triangle headband around his head.
The duo stood in front of the old dusty full length mirror they’ve kept up in the attic, admiring themselves in the reflection. Joseph whistled, “Who are these handsome silver foxes?” he joked, striking a pose.
“They fit pretty well actually. We’ve kept pretty in shape in the last 50 years” Caesar commented, examining their bodies and the almost perfect fit of the clothes. Despite their wrinkles and saggy bits, they hadn’t changed that much from the shape of their old clothes. It was comforting knowing they had kept in such good condition and kept so healthy and fit.
“We don’t look to bad actually” he murmured, smiling as he admired his old muscles. “Yeah, I haven’t seen you in a crop top like that in years” Joseph said. “Keep it in your pants, Jojo”
“They’re your pants actually” he grinned, pointing down at Caesar’s old white pants. He rolled his eyes.
“Maybe we should start dressing like this again” Joseph said. Caesar scoffed, “I don’t think the average New Yorkers are going to take two kindly to two old men dressing like multi coloured strippers”, he commented. “People didn’t take to kindly to us dressing as multi coloured strippers when we were young too. We might as well do what we want” he shrugged.
“Touché” Caesar replied. After a couple more second of admiring himself, he picked up the now empty box. “Come on Jojo, we still have spring cleaning to do” he said. “Are we keeping on the outfits?” Jojo asked, fixing the feathers on either side of the headband. “Of course we are” Caesar replied, tossing the green scarf back over his shoulder.
