Chapter Text

satoru gojo was in college, as he had applied later, at 21. he majored in sociology, after all, he was curious on why people acted in the ways they do, specifically due to the relationship between megumi and toji fushiguro.

megumi was taken under satoru’s wing when he turned 19, which was when megumi was aged 12, and now gojo was 23, and fushiguro’s sixteenth birthday had just passed by.

it all happened within a short space of time.

suguru geto attended the same college as satoru. he was 22 years old. conveniently, geto also majored in sociology, he was interested in humanity and why society behaves so cruelly. he wanted to erase cruelty from the world, a dream he had developed as a young boy.

“shoko, what do you mean you’re introducing me to someone? who?” gojo whined.

“you’ll see. it’s a surprise!” shoko beamed. the irony, gojo hated surprises.

“i don’t like surprises!!!”

shoko dragged gojo to a corner table, where geto sat.

suguru had long black hair, with big ears, and unsurprisingly, an ear piercing, that fit him like a glove. his face was full of piercings, the most prominent being his nose bridge piercing.

satoru froze, he never felt so intimidated by someone else in his life. gojo was used to being in control.

shoko sat down, waving her hand. “gojo, earth to gojo? satoru gojo!” she wailed.

he sat down, realising the humiliation.

“as i was planning to say, geto, this is satoru gojo, gojo, this is suguru geto. say hi!”

“hi.” gojo said moodily.

“hello, gojo.” suguru smiled, and gojo could feel himself blushing, what the hell? shoko mocked him. “you’re so red!” she pointed.

“shut up.” he quickly turned away, sneaking a glance at suguru, which was noticed.

— soon after —

shoko had left to attend work, as utahime, her boss, had called her in, to do an extra shift, and shoko couldn’t pass, because she likes money, a little too much.

it was just satoru and suguru. alone.

“soooo…” gojo murmured.

“what’s your major? i don’t think ive seen you before.”

“sociology, you?”

“really? same!” he smiled. holy fucking shit. satoru gojo melted. he had formed a little crush on suguru within the 72 minutes that they had been hanging out.

“i like your…i like your nose piercing. it suits you.”

“my nose bridge? oh, hah, thanks.”

“it’s okay.”

“you should sit with me in class. i think we have it in a few hours.” suguru said, eager.

“sure.” satoru smiled.

— in sociology —

“suguru!” gojo called. he was in an unusually good mood.

suguru sped walk towards gojo and sat at the seat next to him. “hey!”

“hi!”

“i like your outfit.” suguru complimented.

“hah, oh…wait, thanks! i like yours too. oh, and uh, i like your hair. it looks cool.”

suguru smiled.

— satoru pov —

he looked so good. with his hair, and his piercings, and everything. everything he did with himself suited him.

“why’d you pick sociology, gojo?” geto asked, calmly.

“uh, well, i have this, i have, um, i have an adopted son…and it made me eager, because i know his dad, so i felt like knowing why people seem to do things like leave their child, does that make sense? i just don’t understand why people act certain ways, its silly, really. its the same with me, ive never felt like i belong because i look different, and cus of how people treat me. im only really friends with a few people, like shoko.”

“that’s valid, gojo.”

“hah, it’s nice having someone understand. why did you major in sociology?” i say, determined to understand the boy in front of me. suguru geto.

“i want to understand society, people. you know? why do people kill? what do they gain from it? it’s just so unnecessary, like i don’t understand how people can just… yeah. i want to— to understand society, because we’re all so cruel. we don’t deserve to go to heaven, if that’s even real. humanity is doomed, because of us.”

“i get it.” i say, “sometimes i wonder, if we had the choice to go to heaven or hell—“

“satoru!” yaga, the teacher interrupted. “care to answer my question?”

“oh, yes sir..hah…hah…what is it, again…?”

“how does media influence society?”

“um, media influences society because having constant propaganda and ideas flowing into your brain manipulates it into normalising certain behaviours and activity that become tolerated and apart of society’s daily life.”

i felt suguru staring at me, observing me, and i couldn’t help but return it. and we stared at each other for 10 whole seconds before yaga responded.

“well done! you referenced the cultivation theory!”

— suguru pov —

satoru was cool. easy to talk to. it was a strange feeling. he’d never felt so safe around someone, and so instantly trusting of someone. usually, he’d avoid someone until he couldn’t anymore, and practically let himself get forced into their life.

it was stupid, but that was who suguru was. avoidant.

— after sociology class —

“what are your hobbies, gojo, or can i call you satoru?” i asked, trying to sound nice.

“you can call me satoru, and, um, i like spending time with my adoptive son…i guess? he’s very moody at the moment, so im king of struggling. i just want him to be happy.”

“i see,” i replied. what the fuck else do you say to that? “um, well maybe, if you need help, i could help you— shit, im sorry, i don’t want to be intrusive or invasive, i don’t mind helping.” i said, realising i had taken an interest in my friend shoko’s friend, or my friend, too, satoru gojo.

“that’d be great, i feel like he would like you. you know, he also has piercings, too. he told me his favourite piercing is his helix, what the hell is a helix?!” satoru complained.

“you don’t know what a helix is?!” i laughed. “here,” i pointed on my ear, “it’s the piercing that goes here.” i said, smiling at satoru for his lack of piercing awareness.

“oh, oh, OH!! i didn’t know that! do you think I should get one to match him?” he asked, genuinely serious.

“what’s your pain tolerance like?” i asked.

“medium. what piercing do you think i would suit?” he said, as proud as ever. confident. it made suguru want to laugh.

“none. i like your face already.” i blurt out.
