Chapter Text
The first time she drank from her, it was not supposed to mean anything.
The girl had been easy to take.
Alone. Wandering too far into the abandoned conservatory at the edge of the city, where rusted cages hung from the ceiling. The glass ceiling above let in fractured moonlight, staining everything in cold blue.
An had watched her for three nights before acting.
When she finally descended from the iron beams, she expected screaming. Struggling. That's what most humans did.
Instead, the blonde simply looked up at her with a small smile, “You took your time,” she said softly.
An did not answer. She pinned her against one of the old cages, her fingers cold around her wrist. The pulse beneath the skin was warm. Alive. Irritatingly steady.
“Don’t speak,” the vampire murmured.
“I wasn't planning on it.” The girl whispered back.
An frowned at her for a moment before sinking her fangs into her neck, covering the girl's mouth with her palm.
Blood always tasted different depending on the person. Fear soured it. Desperation made it thin. Rage made it burn.
This one ?
It was sweet.
Sugary sweet.
An pulled back instinctively, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand before looking back at the other.
The girl swayed but did not collapse. Instead, she reached up slowly, deliberately, and touched the vampire’s wrist.
“Is that all?” she asked, sounding almost disappointed.

The vampire should have discarded her after that. Left her in an empty alleyway, or even killed her.
But she didn't. She brought her back instead. More than once.
Kohane never begged to leave, or asked for mercy.
She wandered the hall as though it were a museum, fingers brushing iron bars, chains…
“You live here alone?” she asked one evening.
“Yes.”
“Good.”
An tilted her head. “Good?”
“I don’t like sharing.”
The words were almost playful.
But her eyes were not. If anything, they seemed to look right through An's soul.
“You intrigue me.” Kohane added, her eyes scanning An's face before stepping closer.
An frowned, trying to understand just what in the hell she was doing before hearing her voice again.
“Drink up.”
An looked down at her neck, swallowing hard “Why ?”
“Don't you need to ?”
The dark haired girl huffed. She roughly grabbed Kohane's wrist and tugged her closer, making her tilt her head back.
She barely hesitated, biting right at the girl's pulse point, pulling a sound from her throat that was dangerously close to a pleasured sigh.
“Do you seriously get off to this ?” An murmured against her skin.
“Who knows?”
She got attitude. An will give her that.

Days had passed. They had their own ritual at this point. 11:30 pm on a random day. Kohane knew the way there by heart at this point.
An only fed from her by now. It was simple at least. Other blood felt so empty now. She waited for the day Kohane would come back.
She found herself irritable.
“You look unwell,” Kohane said, brushing a strand of dark hair away from the vampire’s face. “You shouldn’t starve yourself.”
“I am not starving.”
“You are. You’re just pretending you’re choosing not to eat.”
An's eyes flashed red. “I could drain you dry right this instant.” She spat.
A beat.
Then a soft laugh.
“You won't.”
The girl leaned in until her lips hovered near the An's ear.
“If I die, you’ll never taste this again.”
An froze.
“You talk too much,” she muttered.
But she didn’t pull away.
Kohane noticed.
The blonde tilted her head slightly, exposing more of her neck in a lazy, almost careless gesture. “Then stop listening.” She stated as if it was obvious.
“You didn’t come yesterday,” An said.
It came out more accusatory than she intended.
Kohane blinked slowly.
“Oh?” she murmured. “Were you waiting?”
“I was not.”
“Mm.” Kohane looked into her eyes, “We never really settled an exact date, did we ?” She mused out loud.
She stepped closer again, completely ignoring the tension in An’s shoulders. “You look worse than before,” she said quietly.
“You should eat properly.”
An avoided her gaze, her fingers clenching in a fist. That girl…
“You tried other blood, right ? It didn't taste right, did it ?” Kohane mused, looking at An with a prompting hum
An frowned in thought, her eyes finally meeting Kohane's.
She never told her anything about that.
