Chapter 1
The lobby of the DBT Agency was still chaotic even this late at night.
Sidekicks rushed between floors. Monitors flashed with patrol updates. Someone down the hall yelled, “Kaminari, if you electrocuted the printer again, I swear to God—”
The elevator doors opened.
Midoriya walked out first looking exhausted but satisfied after patrol.
Todoroki followed beside him, calm as always despite soot covering one side of his uniform.
Bakugou stomped out last, sweaty, irritated, and already in a terrible mood.
“The bastard ran for twenty fucking blocks,” Bakugou growled while ripping his gauntlets off. “If I see another teleportation quirk tonight, I’m blowing up the whole damn street.”
“You can’t say that as the owner of the agency, Kacchan,” Midoriya sighed tiredly.
“I just did.”
Todoroki glanced over. “You also threatened a reporter.”
“He shoved a microphone in my face while we were arresting somebody.”
“He asked how you felt.”
Bakugou looked disgusted. “I felt like killing him.”
“That’s exactly why PR hates talking to you,” Midoriya muttered.
Bakugou shot him a glare. “And yet our ratings are still higher than yours.”
“Unfortunately true,” Todoroki added.
Midoriya looked betrayed. “Shoto!”
As they walked through the agency floor, employees greeted them casually.
“Good work tonight!”
“Kirishima and Kaminari are arm wrestling in the break room again!”
“Mina stole your spicy ramen, Bakugou!”
Bakugou stopped walking immediately.
“…She fucking what?”
The intern delivering the message visibly panicked.
Midoriya quickly grabbed Bakugou by the arm before he could turn around.
“ANYWAY,” Midoriya said loudly, dragging him forward.
“I was actually thinking we should stop by recovery.”
Bakugou looked annoyed already. “Why the hell?”
“To finally meet the healer we hired.”
Bakugou stared at him like he’d lost his mind.
“The healer that’s been here for six goddamn months?”
Midoriya scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “I’ve just been busy—”
“You own the fucking agency.”
“That means I’m MORE busy!”
“You literally hired her and never introduced yourself?”
“I did introduce myself!”
“When?”
“…Orientation.”
Bakugou looked ready to explode. “That was half a year ago, dumbass.”
Todoroki nodded once. “I haven’t spoken to her much either.”
Bakugou looked over at him next.
“You too?”
“She’s usually working when we’re injured.”
“So both of you are incompetent.”
Midoriya frowned. “That feels harsh.”
“It’s supposed to.”
Still, Bakugou followed when they headed toward the medical wing.
The hallway gradually became quieter. The loud agency atmosphere faded behind them until only their footsteps echoed softly against the floor.
Midoriya straightened a little when they reached the open doorway.
Inside, you sat at her desk reviewing reports on a tablet.
You looked up when you sensed them approaching.
And all three men paused for a second.
Soft glowing skin. Pretty eyes. Long hair tied back loosely with a few strands falling around your face. Dark green scrubs hugged your figure beneath a white medical coat with the DBT logo stitched onto the chest.
You looked relaxed until your quirk activated instinctively.
A warm pulse swept through the room.
The bruising on Midoriya's arm faded immediately. Bakugou’s stiff shoulder loosened. The small cut near Todoroki’s jaw disappeared before he even realized it was there.
“Oh,” you said softly. “Sorry. Reflex.”
Midoriya looked amazed instantly.
“That was incredible.”
Todoroki nodded slightly. “Efficient too.”
Bakugou rolled his shoulder experimentally before grunting. “…Huh.”
Your lips twitched slightly like you were trying not to smile.
“You’re Midoriya, Todoroki, and Bakugou,” you said while standing. “I figured we’d officially meet eventually.”
Bakugou snorted. “Yeah, apparently these dumbasses forgot they hired you.”
Midoriya looked horrified. “Kacchan!”
“What?” Bakugou snapped. “It’s true! You spent six months saying, ‘we should meet her properly someday.’”
“That is NOT how I said it!”
“You practically made calendar reminders, nerd.”
Todoroki tilted his head. “You actually did make calendar reminders.”
Midoriya looked even more offended. “Why are both of you against me tonight?!”
You laughed softly.
The sound made the room go strangely quiet for a second.
Bakugou noticed immediately.
Midoriya smiled warmly. “I’m really sorry it took this long. We’ve heard a lot of good things about you.”
You waved it off. “It’s okay. You guys are busy.”
Bakugou crossed his arms. “Still shitty management.”
“You are management,” Todoroki reminded him.
“Yeah, and I’m carrying this damn place.”
“You threatened to fire a copier machine yesterday.”
“It jammed.”
“It was unplugged.”
Bakugou clicked his tongue aggressively. “Details.”
You laughed again, quieter this time.
Bakugou’s eyes flicked toward you automatically.
Midoriya noticed.
The absolute shit-eating grin that spread across his face made Bakugou instantly hostile.
“Don’t,” Bakugou warned.
Midoriya raised both hands innocently. “I didn’t even say anything!”
“You were ABOUT to, shitty Deku.”
Todoroki nodded. “You looked like you had something to say.”
Bakugou pointed at him immediately. “And you shut the fuck up too, icy-hot.”
You looked between all three of them, clearly amused now.
“You guys act exactly the same as your interviews.”
“That sounds insulting.”
“It kinda is.”
Todoroki looked genuinely thoughtful. “That’s actually very accurate.”
Bakugou groaned loudly and dragged a hand down his face.
“I already have enough idiots in this damn building.”
You leaned back lightly against your desk while Midoriya and Todoroki continued talking to you.
Most of the conversation had shifted away from introductions at this point. Midoriya was asking questions about your quirk with genuine curiosity while Todoroki listened quietly beside him, occasionally adding a question of his own.
Bakugou looked like he regretted coming here more with every passing second.
“So your healing works automatically?” Midoriya asked.
You nodded. “To an extent. Smaller injuries trigger on instinct if I’m close enough.”
“That’s insanely useful,” he said immediately.
Bakugou scoffed from beside the wall where he’d planted himself. “No shit it’s useful. That’s why we hired her.”
You glanced toward him.
He had his arms crossed tightly over his chest, broad shoulders tense beneath his partially unzipped hero suit. His expression still looked permanently irritated, but you were starting to realize that might just be his face.
Todoroki spoke up next. “Can you heal major injuries too?”
“Yes, but it takes more energy,” you explained. “If someone’s heavily injured, I usually need physical contact.”
Midoriya looked amazed again.
Bakugou looked exhausted by Midoriya looking amazed.
“You’re doing the fucking face again,” Bakugou muttered.
“What face?”
“The ‘wow that’s so cool’ face.”
“It IS cool!”
“You’re thirty years old.”
Before Midoriya could argue back, the medical wing doors opened again.
“Oh, there you are.”
You looked up to see two women walking in.
You recognized them immediately.
Uraraka smiled brightly the second she spotted Midoriya.
“Izuku, Recovery Girl said you ignored your post-patrol checkup again.”
Midoriya visibly panicked. “I wasn’t ignoring it! I was just introducing myself!”
Momo walked beside her carrying what looked like takeout bags. Unlike Uraraka’s amused expression, Momo looked unsurprised.
“Hello,” she greeted politely before looking at you. “You must be Y/N. We’ve heard wonderful things about you.”
You smiled softly. “Hopefully all good.”
“Mostly,” Bakugou muttered.
Uraraka immediately pointed at him. “See? This is why nobody thinks you’re approachable.”
“I’m not TRYING to be approachable.”
Todoroki moved toward Momo naturally, taking one of the bags from her hand without even thinking about it.
Bakugou saw the couples forming around him and immediately looked disgusted.
“Alright,” he said flatly. “I’m leaving before this turns into some bullshit double date.”
You smiled
Midoriya grinned instantly. “Kacchan, are you jealous?”
Bakugou looked ready to kill him.
“I’m jealous of fucking peace and quiet.”
He shoved himself off the wall and headed for the door—
Only for the medical wing doors to swing open again.
“HEY!”
Bakugou stopped immediately.
“…God fucking damn it.”
Kaminari walked in holding an energy drink and grinning like an idiot.
“There you guys are!” Kaminari said before spotting you. “Oh! Y/N too!”
You already knew where this was going.
Unfortunately, so did everyone else.
Bakugou groaned loudly. “For fuck’s sake.”
Kaminari ignored him completely and walked straight toward your desk.
“Anyway,” he said smoothly — or what he probably thought was smoothly — “since you turned me down last week, I figured enough time has passed for you to reconsider.”
You stared at him for a second.
Then laughed.
Actually laughed.
Bakugou’s eyes flicked toward you immediately at the sound.
Kaminari pressed a hand dramatically to his chest.
“See? She likes me.”
“No,” Jirou’s voice called from the hallway. “She thinks you’re embarrassing.”
Kaminari pointed toward the doorway accusingly. “Why are you always around when I’m trying to flirt?!”
Jirou walked in holding patient files, entirely unbothered. “Because watching you get rejected is funny.”
You shook your head, still smiling slightly.
“I already told you no.”
Kaminari grinned anyway. “Yeah, but this time I came prepared.”
Bakugou muttered under his breath, “Why does that sound like a fucking threat?”
Kaminari leaned against your desk.
“So,” he said, flashing what was probably supposed to be a charming smile, “what if I take you somewhere expensive? Fancy dinner. Nice view. Maybe a little—”
“I'm sorry Kaminari but...you’re not my type.”
The room went silent for half a second.
Then Uraraka snorted.
Jirou immediately started laughing.
Midoriya tried and failed to hold back his smile.
Kaminari looked genuinely devastated.
“…Damn,” he whispered.
You laughed again, softer this time.
“Sorry.”
“No, no,” Kaminari sighed dramatically. “I need to know now. What IS your type?”
You opened your mouth—
And paused.
Because somehow every person in the room looked interested now.
Even Todoroki.
Even Momo.
And unfortunately…
Even Bakugou.
He stood near the doorway with his arms crossed, looking irritated already like he regretted being included in this conversation against his will.
Your eyes met his for maybe half a second before you looked back at Kaminari.
You smiled innocently.
“Not blondes.”
The room exploded instantly.
Kaminari dropped to his knees dramatically.
Bakugou barked out a sharp laugh before he could stop himself.
And somehow that was the most shocking part to everyone in the room.
Kaminari stayed collapsed on the floor like his entire life had just ended.
“Not blondes,” he repeated weakly. “That was targeted. That felt targeted.”
You smiled and crouched slightly to pat his back twice.
“You’ll survive.”
“I won’t,” Kaminari mumbled into the floor. “Tell my future wife I died bravely.”
“You don’t even have a future wife,” Jirou said while walking over.
She grabbed the back of his jacket without hesitation.
“Wait—” Kaminari protested dramatically as she started dragging him toward the hallway. “Y/N, tell her I’m emotionally fragile!”
“You flirt with women for sport,” Jirou deadpanned.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t feel pain!”
Bakugou looked deeply unimpressed. “Will you idiots get the fuck out already?”
“Yes, your highness,” Jirou replied sarcastically before finally hauling Kaminari out of the medical wing.
Kaminari pointed weakly toward you while disappearing into the hallway.
“I’ll win you over someday!”
“You absolutely won’t,” Jirou called back.
The room quieted after they disappeared.
You shook your head with a soft laugh before standing fully again.
“It’s getting late,” you said while gathering your tablet and files from your desk. “Do any of you need anything before I leave?”
Midoriya shook his head immediately. “No, we’re good.”
Uraraka smiled warmly. “Thank you though.”
Todoroki glanced toward you. “You’re leaving already?”
“It’s almost midnight,” you reminded him.
“…Right.”
Momo smiled slightly at him like she found his response unsurprising.
You slipped your bag over your shoulder before grabbing your keys.
“Well,” you said lightly, “have a good night. I’ll see everyone in the morning.”
“Night!” Midoriya called.
Uraraka waved.
Momo smiled politely.
Todoroki gave a small nod.
Bakugou only grunted from near the doorway.
You smiled slightly anyway before walking past them and heading down the hallway.
The sound of your footsteps gradually faded.
And for some reason…
Bakugou was still staring after you.
Uraraka noticed immediately.
Of course she did.
A slow grin spread across her face while she looked between Bakugou and the now empty hallway.
“…Interesting.”
Bakugou didn’t look away. “The fuck does that mean?”
Uraraka clasped her hands behind her back innocently. “Nothinggg.”
“It absolutely sounded like something.”
Midoriya’s eyes widened slightly as realization hit him.
“Oh.”
Bakugou finally looked over sharply. “Why the hell are YOU saying ‘oh’ like that?”
Midoriya immediately looked nervous. “I didn’t mean it like anything!”
“Yes you did, shitty nerd.”
Todoroki tilted his head slightly.
“You were staring pretty hard.”
Bakugou looked personally offended. “I was not.”
“You kinda were,” Uraraka said.
“I was thinking.”
Momo spoke calmly beside Todoroki. “About Y/N?”
Bakugou looked ready to start a homicide.
“You all got real fucking brave tonight.”
Uraraka laughed. “Awww, Katsuki has a crush.”
The threat came instantly.
“I’ll throw your ass through that wall.”
Instead of being intimidated, Uraraka burst into louder laughter.
Midoriya was barely holding himself together at this point while Todoroki looked genuinely thoughtful again.
“It would explain why you stayed.”
Bakugou pointed aggressively at him. “I stayed because dumbass extras kept walking in!”
“Uh-huh,” Uraraka teased.
“I swear to God—”
“You laughed at her joke too,” Midoriya added carefully.
Bakugou looked horrified.
Like Midoriya had exposed classified government information.
“I did not.”
“You literally did,” Momo said.
“It was ONE laugh!”
Uraraka grinned brightly. “That’s basically a love confession coming from you.”
Bakugou lunged forward slightly.
Uraraka floated herself backward immediately, still laughing while Midoriya grabbed Bakugou’s arm out of pure survival instinct.
“Kacchan, violence isn’t the answer!”
“It absolutely is!”
Todoroki watched the entire thing calmly.
Then quietly added:
“You should ask her out.”
The silence afterward was immediate.
Bakugou stared at Todoroki.
Slowly.
Dangerously.
“…I’m gonna kill all of you.”
