Chapter Text
Snow drifted softly outside the windows of the little café tucked into a quiet Tokyo side street. Warm golden lights glowed through the glass, inviting customers inside with the scent of vanilla, espresso, and fresh pastries. The sign above the door read, ‘Moonlit Café.’ Behind the register stood Sora Yukimura, who carefully drew a heart into the foam of the latte she had just made. A few feet away was her twin sister Noa, who balanced a tray of cakes in her hands as she laughed at something a customer was saying.
“Honestly, Sora,” Noa teased once the customer left, “if you stare at the door any more than you are now, your soulmate might actually magically appear through those doors.” Noa finished with a small grin. Sora groaned, rolling her eyes.
“I am not staring…” Sora whined out. Her sister just laughed at that comment, placing the tray of cakes down on the counter.
“You totally were staring, sis.” Noa teased again, the grin never leaving her face. Sora turned away, her cheeks tinged pink.
“Can you blame me? I mean, you already found yours…” Sora sighed. At the mention of soulmates, Noa’s face softened instantly. Every single person was born with a soulmate mark. A delicate silver constellation that remained dim until meeting the person destined for them. The moment soulmates touched for the first time or made eye contact, the constellation lit up permanently.
Noa had discovered hers two years ago. Kaito Minato, Sora’s best friend from college, had walked into the café during a rainstorm, soaked to the bone and apologizing profusely for dripping water everywhere. The moment his hand brushed Noa’s while taking a towel, both of their soulmate marks had glowed bright blue.
Ever since that day, Sora dreamed endlessly that she, too, would have her moment. She imagined many things. Meeting someone ordinary, sharing coffee on rainy mornings, building a peaceful life together. Not once had she imagined her soulmate would be one of the most famous idols in Japan…
The bell chimed softly, bringing Sora out of her thoughts. “Welcome–” She started, then froze. Three men stepped inside wearing masks and hoodies, clearly trying not to attract attention. But even disguised, the tallest one was impossible not to recognize. It was Haruto Tsukishima. Lead vocalist of the globally famous idol group ECLIPSE. The man whose smile appeared on billboards, magazines, and social media every day. The celebrity everyone in the country seemed to adore.
Noa nearly dropped a plate when she looked up and realized. Kaito, who had been in the kitchen helping out, peeked his head out and whispered, “No way…” Haruto removed his mask carefully, offering a polite bow.
“Sorry for coming in late. We just finished rehearsal nearby.” Haruto explained. His voice was softer than Sora expected…warmer…human… In that moment, Sora’s heart stumbled painfully in her chest.
“U-Um…welcome to Moonlit Café,” she managed. Haruto looked up, and at that moment, everything stopped. The world narrowed into silence, and his dark eyes widened slightly, as if something invisible had wrapped around his heart and pulled tight. Sora felt heat bloom beneath the sleeve of her sweater. It was her soulmate mark…glowing… Haruto stared at his own wrist in shock as silver constellations illuminated across his skin like stars breaking through the night sky.
The entire café went completely silent. Noa’s mouth fell open in shock. Kaito whispered out a slow “Holy shit…” Haruto stared into Sora’s eyes, his face written with disbelief.
“You’re…” He breathed. Sora’s hands trembled. “My soulmate,” Haruto finished shakily. For a moment, neither of them moved. Then Haruto stepped closer carefully, almost afraid she might disappear.
“I’ve waited my whole life for this,” he said quietly. His voice carried no idol persona now, no rehearsed charm, only sincerity. Sora felt tears sting her eyes before she could stop them.
“So have I…” Sora whispered, stepping closer to Haruto.
