Secrets Exposed

Summary:

When Bobby finally believes the jokes Athena has been making, the couple dive into the reality their life has unknowingly been. How will Bobby react? Will it strengthen or break their relationship?

Note: Nothing in this should be perceived as fact. I'm not super knowleged in the field and used a more entertained approach rather than accurate.

Notes:

My apologies for being so absent lately! I was busy with finals and graduation, but now that that's over, I'm back and writing again! As an apology and celebration here's an entire story for you guys! Let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: Exposed

Chapter Text

Athena and Bobby head up the stairs and to the door as Athena is shuffling through her purse. “Oh, I forgot something. I'll be right back.” she tells Bobby.

Bobby turns to her and smiles as she makes her way back down the steps. When she reappears around the corner, she sees him standing at the top of the stairs smiling, with his hands in his pockets. “You didn't have to wait, baby. I could've met you at the car.”

Bobby grins as he reaches out for her. “No need. What did you forget?” he asks curiously.

Athena smiles and holds up her chain and owl pendant in her hand. “Ah.” Bobby says.

Just as they step to head out the door Athena fumbles and drops the pendant. Bobby chuckles at her. “Here, let me.” he says as he bends down to grab it.

“NO-” Athena's attempt is meaningless as Bobby bends to pick up the dropped pendant. As soon as he touches it, Bobby winces and jumps back

Athena squenches her face as she tends to Bobby's hand. “Are you ok?”

Bobby nods, holding his hand in pain. “Why did that hurt so bad?” he winces again.

Athena looks at him as she picks up her pendant and drops it in her purse. “Because I'm a Greek Goddess and that's my pendant. It burns the non-divine.”

Bobby bellows into laughter as he opens the door and walks out. “Well in that case, after you my goddess.”

Athena chuckles at him nervously as she exits the door. They walk down the driveway and get into his truck where the things for their picnic await.

The car ride was silent. Bobby refused to let Athena drive even though his hand was still in pain. They pulled into the parking lot of the park to see a mostly vacant field of flowers. Athena smiled as she rushed out of the car and into the field, leaving everything behind.

Bobby chuckled as he grabbed the food from the back of the truck and followed behind her. Once they found a spot to sit, they spread out the blanket and pulled out the food. Athena sat on the front of the blanket with Bobby sitting behind her, his legs around her, and the food to their side. Athena laid her head back on his shoulder as they ate their sandwiches.

“You know, I still don't understand how that hurt so badly.” Bobby remarked as he looked at his hand.

Athena praised mid bit and turned to look at him with a blank expression. “What?” he asked.

Athena opened her mouth, closing it without making a sound. “‘Thena?”

Athena blinked slowly. “Oh, you were serious weren't you?” Bobby asked.

Athena put down her sand which and nodded cautiously. “We've been together for so long, Athena. Why didn't you tell me?”

“I'm sorry-”

“That's so cool. I'm married to a Goddess.” Bobby said proudly.

Athena chuckled. “You're not mad?” she asked.

“No, there's probably plenty of reasons you didn't tell me.” He reached in front of him to take her hands. “I don't love you any differently.” he whispered in her ear.

Athena smiled and relaxed into his shoulder. “I expected you to have more of a reaction than that.”

“I mean, it's not surprising. Your name is Athena and everyone is terrified of you. Plus there's just this feeling when I'm around you. I don't know how to explain it.” Bobby struggled through his thoughts. “It's like I'm safe but not like a comfortable kind of safe, like I know nothing can actually happen to me.”

“Well at least I know you actually love me.” Athena teased.

“Of course I do.” Bobby chuckled.

Athena turned to him once again. “No, I mean in the context that no one can feel that feeling from me unless they're connected to me. And you can't be connected to me without that bond.”

“There's so much I have to learn.” Bobby said as he trailed into thought.

“You have no idea.” Athena remarked.

“Wait, is it true that you were born from your father's head?” Bobby blurted.

Athena laughed loudly as she reached for the crate of strawberries they brought with them.
