Cats are prone to being somewhere up high, someplace no one can reach them, where they can rest peacefully by themselves. Somewhere risky, not caring for their own safety, trusting in their ability to land on their feet. It’s a problem for most owners, having to get your cat down when they climb somewhere too high, too dangerous.
It’s a problem for class 1-1 of Fuurin, who’s captain also enjoys the high risk places.
They were patrolling the area, just the usual six of them of class 1-1. Tsugeura, Nirei, Kiryu, Suo, Sugishita, and of course Sakura. They had split up into groups of three to cover more ground in hopes to catch something faster if anything truly was happening.
Suo and Nirei were walking peacefully on the streets, taking small breaks every so often to call out for their grade captain who just so happened to be jumping roof to roof. It was a scare at first, when they all split up and then regrouped, only to find their dear friend Sakura up on the roof, dangling his legs as if he didn’t look ready to jump off.
“Suo-san..”
“Yes Nirei-kun?”
“Where’s Sakura-san..?”
Suo stopped walking forward as he slowly turned around only to not find their dearest dual haired coloured friend following behind. That was strange..he did enjoy taking his time, however he would never dare fall back this much.
“Suo-kun, Nire !! We’re done with our side !” Tsugeura shouted as his group ran over to them only to stop and look around.
“Where’s Sakura-chan? Bathroom break so suddenly?” Kiryu asked as he peeked behind Suo and Nirei only to not see anyone.
Suo gave a small sigh. “It appears we lost him..”
“Huhh ?! You lost Sakura ? How !” Tsugeura questioned as he ran a little back the way they originally came from.
“Sakura !! Hey man where are you ?” He shouted out.
“I’m not quite sure how..I could’ve sworn he was just behind us too..” Suo explained as his brows furrowed.
“M-me too ! We were all just chatting a little a go as well, there’s no way he could just disappear like that !!” Nirei explained further.
“Hm..Then where did he run off to ?” Kiryu asked though it was meant for himself.
Suddenly they saw a shadow come from up high, a rooftop nearby. They all quickly turned their heads, expecting for an enemy to drop by. However rather then an opponent, it was the very person they were all searching for.
“I checked everywhere nearby, it’s all clear here too.” He shouted, brushing off the worried and surprised looks everyone else was giving him.
“Sakura-san please get down from there ! Were you chasing a cat ?” Nirei questioned, looking panicked at the thought that Sakura could fall.
“I’ll get down in a second geez. Also why the heck would I be chasing a cat ?” He asked back before sitting down on the edge, dangling his feet off and looking ready to jump.
“Woah woah there Sakura-chan ! That’s a dangerous game you’re playing.” Kiryu exclaimed as he and the others rushed closer to the building.
“Dangerous ? Where ? I just said it was safe over here.”
‘Why was he so clueless..?’ They all unanimously thought.
“What Kiryu-kun meant was to get down in a less..risky way yeah?” Suo explained as he searched for some type of ladder.
“Exactly Sakura-san ! Jumping from there could result in some type of leg injury.” Nirei joined in on explaining.
“Unless your virtue is getting injured ? Wouldn’t be a good one however !” Tsugeura shouted out with his arms out.
“Put your damn arms down ?! I’m not some cat stuck up in a tree ! I can get down myself..” The other yelled as he once again looked ready to just go for it.
“Sakura-kun seriously please get down some other way !” Suo yelled out, now looking on edge.
Sakura froze as he watched all their expressions shift.
‘Why’d they look so scared..?’
“I’m telling you It’s perfectly fine. I’ve jumped from higher so let me be.”
“HIGHER ???” Nirei yelled out looking even more nervous.
“Yea, got a problem with that ?”
“Yes indeed. That’s not safe at all Sakura-kun. You can get seriously injured with one wrong move.”
“Well I haven’t in the past so I won’t now.”
“There’s no guarantee so once again, please get down another way.”
Sakura didn’t move for a little, he sat there staring at the others who looked ready to catch him at any given moment. He just groaned in annoyance before getting ready to stand up only for his hand to slip, resulting in him falling forward at the sudden push.
Everyone’s expression changed quickly, body frozen, clearly not expecting the other to fall. Nirei closed his eyes, afraid of the sight before him, waiting for some type of splat. Except it never came.
Nirei waited and waited only to be given more silence. Filled with anticipation he opened one eye, only to find Sugishita holding Sakura in his arms.
“Sakura-chan ! Are you injured ?” Kiryu yelled out first, breaking the silence as he rushed over towards Sugishita.
“I-..uh no I’m fine..” He said as he quickly turned red, realizing what exactly had happened.
“Tsk…be more careful next time..” Was all the taller man had said while carefully putting Sakura down.
“Yea..uhm..thanks..”
“Mhm..”
Sugishita then stepped back as Kiryu and Suo quickly filled in his place.
Suo began examining Sakura, looking for any type of injury the other could’ve sustained. At most there was a small scratch on his hand, yet nothing too dangerous.
“Sakura-chan please be more careful. That was a close call.” Kiryu said softly as he looked over at Suo who gave a thumbs up.
“No injuries besides a small cut. Good job Sugishita-kun.” Suo said with a smile.
Sugishita just turned his head, doing his best to ignore the look of approval that everyone else was giving him.
Suddenly snapping out of their trances, Nirei and Tsugeura ran over to the bi coloured hair boy, pulling him into a tight embrace.
“I saw your life flash before my eyes Sakura ! I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to catch you.” Tsugeura yelled out looking extremely apologetic.
Nirei had started crying as he held on tight to Sakura’s neck.
“I thought you were going to die !! That was so high up ! Never do that again !” Was all he got out though there were hiccups inbetween.
Sakura turned red at both their actions and words, doing his best to push them away though only Tsugeura budged.
“Shut up you both ?! My life wasn’t in danger, Sugishita obviously caught me and besides I could’ve landed myself anyways !!” He yelled out, trying to explain himself though no one really believed the last part.
“We still should’ve tried to catch you. Had it not been for Sugishita-kun, who knows what could’ve happened.” Suo shot back.
“I told you I would’ve landed it then ! I’ve jumped from higher so stop worrying.
.
.
and..it’s fine if you guys didn’t catch me..i would’ve been frozen in place too..” He said quietly, doing his best to look away.
Everyone else smiled at his words, Kiryu letting out a small chuckle.
Suddenly Sakura felt a hand on his shoulder, it being no one other then Suo.
“Thank you for understanding Sakura-kun. Regardless please do understand that even if you can do it or have done it before. The chances are never the same, so the result can change.”
“Exactly Sakura-san ! No one wants to see you hurt on the floor all because we let you just jump off !!”
“Tsk..I get it okay ? I’ll do it more safely next time..”
“Glad you understand Sakura-chan.”
After that they all headed back to school to report back though there really wasn’t much. Sakura did get a good lecture from Umemiya however about how he should take care of his body more because there’s others that care about his well-being. Sakura could only just shyly nod along, before running off to go hangout with the others.
Back to the present, Nirei and Suo called Sakura back so they could meet up with the others. Sakura in response started to climb down the building, deciding that it was too high for the others standards and he’d get one hell of a lecture if he even attempted to jump off.
The other two watched with a smile, their shoulders finally relaxing once they watched the other climb down. They weren’t sure what he deemed too high of a building and they weren’t trying to figure it out. His safety was more important then any type of research including stuff like that.
