Chapter Text
The sun beamed down on him. His face grew raw. He was definitely going to have a sun burn after today. They didn’t worry him as much as they would when he was younger. The skin peeling part of it satisfied him. Made him feel like a new man. Anything he did in his old skin was washed away. He wasn’t religious at all, but something about it felt holy. Like God had made a special way for him to repent. For his soul to be clean. No matter what. He was a new man every time. He’d done this enough times for it to be ritualistic. And every time, he’d think the same thing. God was helping him get clean. But, maybe this isn’t enough. Maybe he will never be clean again. Maybe he’s gone too far. And like every other time he’s been here, he rolls over and shifts his focus to who’s next to him.
Today, it’s a young girl. He’d spent the last few years getting close to her. He can’t tell if it makes him feel better or worse. Hopefully better, he wishes. He didn’t know her last name. All of that time together and he only ever called her Kim. Maybe he knew it at the beginning. He can’t remember. He would never admit it, but he doesn’t want to think about her. He also would never admit they grew close. And he grew even closer to the man at the bottom of the lake.
He carefully stuffed her into the bag he was laying on. The head was already in a different bag. If it wasn’t it would make his job a lot harder. This can be awfully messy sometimes.
