Chapter 1: A bat, dragon, and raven.

Chapter Text

Sneaking out of her bed chambers, a princess named Meleanor Draconia, her tail dragging on the ground. She quickly hid behind a wall upon hearing people approaching. “shushh! you're going to get us caught, dear tail!” she whispered, pulling her tail up to her chest. Once she got out of the castle, she made her way to the kingdom.

“Princess? Wait, was that..?” A peasant asked, taking a second glance. Princess Meleanor quickly snatched a silk to cover herself with to hide with. “Eek!”

Lady Meleanor..?” A boy, a raven fae, looked at her in shock, not expecting her to be in the kingdom. “What are you doing here?”

“Ah! Raverne! Great timing, give me your hood. I want to explore the forest past the gates.” Meleanor looked smug, her hand reaching out.

“...? And I should let you.. because..?” he asked, staring at her in doubt.

“I am your future queen, obviously.” she stood proudly at her statement. He let out a sigh and stripped his hood off of the fence it laid upon.

“Don’t rip it..”

“You dare doubt me, Raverne? Hpmh. Some friend you are.”

That’s not it! You just.. ripped my old shirt when trying to put it on..!” he immediately responded.

“.. Very well, I won’t rip it. Such cloth this is.. it's not even covering my horns.” she scoffed, “Would you like to accompany me on this trip?”

“I’m good.. thanks.. I heard there’s weird monsters out there..” He shivered, just thinking about what he’ll encounter.

She rolled her eyes and ran past the boy to the gates, she found herself on a path before she was under a willow tree. A very beautiful tree, only downside was the spiders but she could manage.

Pushing past all the vines and leaves, the young princess dragon explored the forest in her mothers kingdom. That's when she spotted another child. No taller than a.. A ten year old human child at best. His sword met her neck as soon as he heard her step on a stick.

"Who may you be? Ah, the.. princess." His bright crimson eye color looked cold.

".. Put your sword down, young soldier." She remained calm, her gaze never leaving him. "Are you always usually here training?"

".. So? It's better than those other faes making fun of how 'girly' I look trying to train like a ‘man’." He rolled his eyes, lowering his sword. “And besides, it’s the least I can do. The Senates will just laugh and mock me in my face, you see? I have to make them regret it.” he mumbled, looking away from the princess.

“You're quite short, but I’m aware you already know that, yes?”

Obviously, my lady.” He gripped tighter on his sword, slowly getting annoyed.

“You know you can’t touch cold iron, right? What is that sword made of?”

Silver.”

“Right.. you aren’t very.. bright..”

Maybe that should give you a sign. Leave at this once. People are most likely worried about you.”

“You just want me gone.” she pouted.

“I’m glad you noticed. Lady Meleanor, this isn’t a very safe place for you to be here, though.”

“I’m fine. What’s the worst that can happen?”

That brings us to the time now, Lady Meleanor and a bat fae who introduced himself as Lilia Vanrouge were currently running from a stray bull full speed. One of them was having fun while the other was rethinking their life choices that lead up to them meeting this person.

Chapter Text

“Lady Meleanor, come here!” Lilia yelled, grabbing onto a tree branch. “Come on!” He climbed inside the tree hole before reaching out for the princess. Then all of a sudden he saw wings sprout from her back. A beautiful color scheme of black, dark blue and green feathers, they lit up the entire bright azure sky. Very large, he would say, but.. he stared in awe. “.. ah.. those are so..” Beautiful.

Pfft! You should have seen your face! So worried about a dragon fae?” she snickered, pointing and laughing.

W-well your wings weren’t out! I just assumed you didn’t grow them yet.” he huffed, looking away. “Why couldn't you do that before?”

“I forgot that I could fly, oops.” She rubbed the back of her neck, her eyes darting away.

“Tsk. Don’t go around trying to mess with bulls and boars. You might get hurt and I’ll be responsible.” His eyes looked back before widening. “M-my lady?!” he yelped, seeing her extremely close to his own face.

“Would you like to be my royal knight?” she asked.

“Firstly, move. You have no survival instincts for a dragon.”

She pouted, smoke coming out of her nose. “I do. That bull animal just looked so tasty. It’s not my fault.”

“It is your fault!”

“Princess Meleanor! Where must that girl be?” A general knight scoffed, riding his horse alongside ten men.

“Siré, I found her! She is with.. that bat fae that the Queen brought in.” a knight yelled, grabbing Meleanor. “Don’t you dare do anything to our princess, or so help me Lilia Vanrouge.” he spat out, glaring at the young fae.

“We were having fun! Wait- Let me go right this instant!” Meleanor protested. Screeching loudly.

“My lady, you need to go home.” The general got off his horse and picked up Meleanor. “You're still a child, fifty-six years old..” he sighed. She kicked and whined while being dragged away back to the dark castle in the distance.

“Do something and get a treat to eat, Bat.” One of the soldiers tossed Lilia a bag full of gold coins.

“.. Only a fourty coins?? What am I supposed to do with this amount?! I can barely get any bread, Sir!” Lilia yelled after counting the coins.

“Stop complaining. Bread costs ten coins. Stop being so greedy.”

“Then I have thirty coins left!!”

“Not my problem.”

. .

. . .

In the kingdom, Meleanor looked at her people, children running and playing games as adults worked tiredly. She sighed and looked up at the ceiling. “Hpmh.. I didn’t even do much.” Her hand rested underneath her chin as she was carried away in a carriage.

Where on earth did you go?! Meleanor!!!! God this girl!” Her mother cried out, yanking the young girl from her seat. “You had me worried sick! You went off to that forest, no?!

“Mother, you're being too loud. I’m fifty-six.”

A child’s age! Not some grown woman! What if a human saw you?! What if you got hurt?!”

“Mother-! I’m almost a teen! And besides.. I met a boy. A very short boy at that.”

“A boy-?! Oh goodness no! You shall not interact with that boy!”

“His name is Lilia Vanrouge.” she twirled around in her dirty gown. Leaves are still sticking to her gown hem. “We had fun. He showed me how to make a flower crown!” Half truth. She actually threatened Lilia until he told her, but who needed to know that?

“A boy named.. Lilia? Ah, the new hire.”

“May I hangout with him?”

“.. Well, you’ll be safe with him.. he had great strength for a fae his age.”

“So I could hangout?!”

“After you study on how to be more lady-like.”

Tsk.” she pouted, looking away.

.

. .

. . .

“So.. there’s a boy in the forest..?” Raverne asked, walking with Meleanor to the forest the next day. “Are you sure?”

“Obviously, dumby!” She held his hand, walking through the forest. “There! The boy!”

Lilia swung his sword at Raverne’s neck. “Who is this, Lady Meleanor?” He glared at Raverne.

“E-eh?! What did I do?!” he yelped.

“This is Raverne ***** and we are all going to be friends!” She lowered his sword, throwing it away, sitting them down on a rock near a lake.

“.. Do I have to..?” Lilia sighed.

“Yes.”

“Meleano-” Raverne started.

“Befriend one another.”

Tsk.” Lilia looked away into the water reflection. Lilia ran his hand through the water, messing up the natural current slightly. “So.. what do you guys like to do..?”

“Is that.. Fae’s?” A voice came out from the trees, a young girl, also known as Princess Leia. Her brown hair falling on her face. “******! There’s fae's!"

“Mn?” A boy, who is also known as The Knight of the Dawn when he’s older.

“Ah, nice to meet you.” Meleanor stood up, looking at the human children.

“Yes indeed.” The boy shook Meleanor’s hand. Which also started to burn her hand from the iron gloves he was wearing.

She hissed and let go fast.

Now it was silent.

This is a story of a Bat fae, a Dragon fae, and a Raven fae. Three friends with the world against them.
