Just give me true love and understanding

Summary:

Jack can’t help his wolfish instincts when the full moon is so close.

Luckily Davey doesn’t mind all that much.

Title taken from Hey Lover by The Daughters Of Eve!!

Notes:

As the tags say, this is very self indulgent! If you know me, you know how much of a nerd I am when it comes to wolves. So why not mix two of my favorite things? :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

For any normal person living a normal life, coming home to your boyfriend wrestling his brother on the couch would be a concerning sight.

Davey however was neither a normal person, nor lived a normal life.

He watched as Race vaulted over the back of the couch, Jack quick on his heels. He landed clumsily on Race’s back, growling and snapping his teeth. In turn Race tried whipping his head around to nip at Jack, this caused Jack to press his teeth into the back of Race’s neck while letting out a low snarl.

“What could you two possibly be fighting about now?” Davey asked, scrubbing his hands down his face as he watched the two wallow all over each other. “Jackie here’s mad I won’t give ‘em the remote!” Race said before letting out a yelp when Jack tightened his grip, shaking his head lightly. Race let out a whine and tried his best to turn and nose at Jack’s lower jaw, a sign of defeat.

When he finally stopped wriggling around, Jack gave his head one final shake before releasing Race and standing up. He let out a snort and nudged Race in the stomach with his foot.

It wasn’t uncommon for two werewolves to have short tempers this close to the full moon, especially two littermates. It seemed the week leading up to the full moon consisted only of snapping jaws and bared teeth.

On the other hand, there were also the softer moments when they acted like total puppies.

Like the way Jack looks up from where Race is digging around the couch cushions for the remote he owes him (it must’ve gotten tossed around when the two started fighting). Jack gives Davey a sheepish grin, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides as he waits for Davey to address him. Due to his overpowering wolf-brain, he has a hard time communicating with others who aren’t werewolves when it’s this close to the full moon. He wants nothing more than to pull Davey in and shower him with his affection but he just can’t find the words to initiate it.

Davey’s heart melts at the sight, he can’t help but fawn over his boyfriend’s wolfish behavior. He steps closer and takes Jack’s face in his hands, leaning in and pressing his lips to the tip of the other’s nose.

Jack lets out a whine and snuffles closer, sniffing at Davey’s neck and lower jaw, taking in the scents of where he’s been and what he’s been doing. After his little inspection he moves on to peppering him with kisses and nips. Davey can’t help but giggle at the ticklish feeling of Jack nipping at his jaw.

Jack relishes in the sound of Davey’s light laughter, letting out a whine in response. This only causes Davey to laugh harder, taking Jack’s face in his hands once again.

“You are a mess.” Davey giggles, watching the way Jack’s nose scrunches up at the comment. “I’m jus’ happy to see ya” He huffs, glancing away to catch Race slipping out of the living room and into his bedroom, leaving the two alone.

“I’m happy to see you too.” Davey leans in and presses his lips to Jack’s. Jack is quick to melt into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Davey’s waist and pulling him impossibly closer.

Notes:

I hope you enjoyed!! I might write more little one-shots in this universe, I absolutely LOVE giving humans wolf traits and mannerisms XD
