Chapter Text

. 𖦹˙— ryo

It was snowing outside, the black streets sparkling with Christmas decorations. Children were playing snowball fights, families were still decorating, and girls were taking photos. It was a truly peaceful atmosphere, outside their house.

In the living room, Ryo struggled to lift a fallen Christmas tree. He looked at the broken decorations on the floor. He had carefully chosen and placed them all. Of course, they were ruined, as expected.

His mother was still muttering something in the kitchen. About how much money he'd paid for that tree, how he had done nothing but harm the family, and so on.Ryo was struggling to hold back tears as he swept up the broken glass on the floor. Because if he did, his mother would unleash her condescending words.

As if things weren't going badly enough, his father came home from work. Actually, four hours after his scheduled end time. Ryo turned his head towards him, trying to avoid eye contact. He was drunk, great.

As midnight approached, while everyone else was gathered around warm fireplaces playing card games or watching christmas movies like "home alone" with their families, Ryo's life was about to collapse around him.

His father was saying something, or rather, trying. His mother started muttering something louder now. Like,
"What did I do to deserve all this?" Ryo's heart started racing. Not from fear, but from anger. There was only one person here who wasn't getting what he deserved and that was Ryo.

His father walked with his feet tripping over each other. Ryo didn't even want to look at his face disgusting, he thought. As he started to approach him, Ryo was bracing himself for all possible scenarios.

His father leaned closer, a sickening grin on his face. This time, Ryo felt scared for real.Getting slapped in the face might have sounded a bit absurd, but he felt a little more relieved. There were other terrible scenarios that could have happened; this was nothing. He was used to it.

He could hear his mother's laughter. He felt his blood boiling. Yes, this had been going on for a long time. But everyone deserved to be happy on christmas. But look at him, in such a pathetic state. This was the last straw.

. 𖦹˙—sakuya

Hearing his mother's annoying voice again(dont get it wrong he loves his mother) Sakuya finally took off his airpods and tossed the switch to a far corner of the bed. After calling out "I'm coming!" to his mother, he adjusted his hair in the mirror and started going down the stairs.

When his little brother saw him, he started crawling towards him. Yes, even though there was a 16-year age difference between them, Sakuya loved him, when he wasn't crying. After stroking his soft, baby-scented hair, he picked him up. He walked towards the dining table. As always, it was surrounded by an absurdly excessive amount of decorations.

It had become a tradition of his mother's. An extravagant christmas. After putting his brother in his high chair, he tried to find the plate with his name on it. He didn't know why his name was written where he should have been sitting like a primary school child; his mother just liked those kinds of things.

Damn, there was enough food on the table to feed at least ten families. Most of it was food Sakuya didn't like; he's a picky eater.

Sakuya didn't even understand why his entire extended family was at their house either. And you could see the recurring theme in the environment. All the decorations, napkins, candles, even the clothes being worn were in the same color palette.

Actually, he wouldn't lie; the decor looked amazing. It must have been so good, in fact, that his cousins, whom he didn't particularly like, would most likely have already posted three stories about it.And they were still taking pictures. Sakuya giggled. It was silly.

The moment he reached for the warm bread on the plates, his mother slapped his hand and, with a terrifying look in her eyes, told him to put it back.He reluctantly rolled his eyes and left the bread alone.

His brother had already touched everything and gotten it all over himself, but their mother mumbled how sweet he was and gave him a piece of bread.

When Sakuya glanced at him, his brother held out the bread towards him.He wanted snatch it from his hand and desperately eat it, but the poor bread was covered in saliva and some unknown food.

As time went on, everyone started gathering around the table. Of course, his beloved (!) cousins decided to sit next to him. They started talking nonsense right next to his ear. "Dottore is so hot!!" who the heck was Dottore...he thought.

As the clock struck midnight, a commotion began. Countless fireworks outside, confetti inside the house... It's just a new year, folks. His little brother, probably frightened by everything, had started to cry.

And just like that, christmas break was over and it was time for school again.During this seemingly endlessly long christmas break, Ryo had made some new decisions. He no longer had the strength or the desire to continue like this. Since he also had to go to school, Ryo's part-time job choices were somewhat limited.

No, he definitely couldn't be a barista; he'd mess it up completely. And no, he didn't want to walk some rich kids dogs either. He was good with babies, so maybe...

And this is the beginning of his meeting with Sakuya
